Regardless of what versions people buy, I hope everyone here has learned not to pay full price for GNR box sets. They've discounted the AFD box yet again because they still haven't sold them all.
https://gnrmerch.com/collections/music/products/appetite-for-destruction-locked-n-loaded-box-set
Super deluxe version is down to $50.
I'll wait till the UYI vinyl box is down to $200-250 before I consider buying it.
Sold out now

^Thank you!
I think I'll hold off on those for a bit. I still have to carefully pick and choose what I'm going to get upon release!

The Japanese CD's have some bonus tracks from Tokyo '92.
ah ok. Is there a listing I can see?
-
I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly but which country has alternate bonus tracks?

So they’ve remixed the whole song but can’t even be bothered to explain the question on all of our minds:
Why was it necessary to dive directly through the fucking wedding cake?!
From what I read, it was Axl's idea. Just a "hey, jump through the cake!" I think it was meant to be funny

True enough….apart from it ‘just being GNR’ I can’t think why else they want to dodge including them? Hell - just include a download card for folk to use - lots of folk have this stuff as it’s widely out there but not everyone is as savvy with looking.
One thing I always found odd - why the demo of Ain’t Going Down sounded so flat and hissy compared to the other tracks found on the various bootlegs which were supposedly cut around the same time…the other tracks sounded almost identical to the final album versions….a cleaned up version of that AGD would be awesome.
I'm guessing people that they don't work with anymore has stuff that they could have used. Alan Niven comes to mind. He's passed out a lot of stuff over the years.

Preordered the 2 disc sets today. I can’t financially justify buying the ultra deluxe box right now, but if the MP3s are cheap enough from Amazon or iTunes, I’ll buy them from there.
i couldn't do mp3. I'd have to go the full flac-hd deal.

Anyone else hear any crackling in the left channel. I hear it the loudest at the start of the song.

Yeah especially when Axl would pair it with that like tiny vest thing, idk what it is called if it is called anything in particular lol. But the outfit he wore at the start of the Tokyo DVD
you mean the baseball catcher's vest?

And remember, ABSURD and Hardskool are already too old for a new record.
I dunno. Heaven's door was released in 1990 on the Days of Thunder soundtrack (but in an alternate mixed form). Civil War was also previously released the year earlier.

I was wondering why a Fan on here called Axl Uncle Axl. I had never heard of a Fan calling him Uncle Axl and I found that strange, now I understand the Uncle Axl reference. 😃
I'm not Axl. I promise! 😏
Yeah, it ended up being really weird

I remember on a now deleted Guns N'Roses Fan Website, the Fans kept calling Axl Dexter, saying stuff like," Did Dexter black out his Appetite For Destruction Cross Tattoo? Did Dexter think the weird Cornrows he did to his hair looked good on him?" I l, having absolutely no idea why these Fans were calling Axl Dexter said something like,"Why are you guys calling Axl Dexter? This is even worse than Fans who call him Axel!" The responses were something like," Axl went on multiple Guns N'Roses Fan Websites and used the name Dexter as a screen name . Also, Dexter was the name of one of Axl's Cats who is now deceased." That made a lot of sense....
I dunno. He referred to himself as "Uncle Axl" in a concert animated video in 2001 and fans called him that for years

I don't know if anyone has looked/found this but the Super Deluxe is $202 at Target

Probably looking for something more lively and less stock than your typical live performance clip, I'd guess a video like this gets more eyes than a standalone camera staring at the stage
So then that's what we should expect from the blu-ray?

Uhh..hold on but since when does that seem unlikely. And especially when he knows it's being filmed? That they included film footage from other shows, of which there are like 2-3 only, is a dumb conspiracy theory lol. What would even actually be the point of mixing in footage from other shows, when you have footage of the entire show where it was played, I don't understand peoples logic sometimes.
Not a conspiracy, just trying to figure out why one performance audio clip is being used over footage of various clips with wardrobe changes from band members, different guitars etc. when the performance of the same song with the same audio is being included in the box set as part of a single show.

Maybe for the people to get an idea of the cool footage that the full show contains?
nah, I don't think so. It's all footage from various shows. The blu-ray is just from one night. Unless Axl was really committed to multiple outfit changes at one show.
-
I don't get it. Why use a clip show from various performances but use full performance audio from a specific show to promote a box set where it's advertised that you can see the full un-interrupted show from the night the audio was recorded?
What's wrong with just pulling the performance from the show and posting that?

Can't wait to see the video tomorrow. Hopefully it is edited sensibly and NOT like a music video.
you mean like a live performance or not a "music video' like It's So Easy was?

This. Why would they not release it in 4K now?
I hope it turns out to get a release in some streaming service.
It's sourced from a 4K and down to a 2K for the blu-ray. I should look really nice but I agree, a 4K disk is much needed.

I know you mean in perfect quality but...we already have a great (compared to an audience recording) version of that concert.
Houston '92 is a concert that is somehow missing here but was professionally recorded (better than the normal soundboards) and has been traded around in circles. As was London '91, especially for video release. Not sure why that wasn't one of the concerts picked for a 4K release.
They still were using videotape back then. The only thing that could be close to a 4k conversion is film

The UYI albums cannot be celebrated without the legendary UYI Tour. That is what made GNR so interesting during this time period. Unlock the vault already. Release the "Perfect Crime" documentary already.
Was the documentary ever finished or is it just a pile of footage?
UYI boxset will be released 11/11/22. In Slash We Trust. * Now available *
