  1. GNR's plan for new music being Slash and Duff re-working anything that already has a 20 year old vocal track on it sounds to me like they're trying to work around Axl's present day voice.
  2. And in that Bugs Bunny cartoon, crazy as that sentence was to just type. Maybe he can still bring it in small doses or in the studio but he's sounded how he sounds live long enough now that it's just what I expect.
  3. I said this in the show thread but I've been Team AXL for 20 years and I'm as pro-Axl in anything he does as a person can be.... But his voice is what it is. It's been like this for years and we're constantly telling ourselves it'll get better but it doesn't. And their efforts towards new music have been to use whatever already has a 20 year old Axl vocal track on it.
  4. I love Axl. I was Team Axl for 20 years. I'm still Team Axl. I happen to be wearing a GNR shirt with Axl alone on it as I type this. But there's a lot of evidence piling up that his voice is gone. The way he sounds live more often than not, the fact that their Plan A for new music is to rework songs that already have his vocal track from 20 years ago on it... I didn't think he sounded great on Hard Skool but he didn't sound any worse than he does a lot of times these days.
  5. It wouldn't be a practical use of time or money but hearing what Slash and Duff bring to these songs makes me want to hear their take on Chinese Democracy.
  6. When you pre-order do they charge you right away or charge you when it's about to ship?
  7. I like Hard Skool. Absurd was alright. But is Axl's voice shot or something? Because it seems like whatever they record or release it has to already have an Axl vocal track on it.
  8. My guess is everything but Axl's vocals are new, so I guess Frank.
  9. I didn't like it when I first brought it up on my phone, I think because I was used to the demo version I had been listening to for a year or so. But when I played it loud in my car, I love it. Slash and Duff just add an energy to these songs that wasn't there in the demos.
  10. There's too much good stuff there for one album, probably not enough for two full albums. I mean, aside from trashing My World I really wouldn't change anything. Plus at this point it seemed like everyone had their own songs they wanted to get in there.
  11. They could be teasing it for later? I mean, they just released ABSURD, releasing a new song now would be fast for any band, let alone this one. Someone on Twitter or whatever it was saying Axl told them Hard Skool is coming out soon while the band soundchecks it like they've done numerous times doesn't mean it was meant to be released tonight like people assumed.
  12. I've said it before but I would be stunned if they were going to introduce a potential timebomb like Alder to what was already a potentially fragile situation starting out. Guest appearances here and there, okay, but being a regular part of the band on every show seems unlikely.
  13. In general it feels like there's some compromises being made so Axl/Duff/Slash can all get along so my guess is they'd prefer Matt but not enough to insist on it if Axl didn't.
  14. Cheesy as it sounds, I think he just wanted his friends back.
  15. With how difficult it is to get Axl to release music for whatever reasons and it appearing that the music they're working on now are leftover CD tracks that Slash and Druff re-work while using Axl's vocals from 20 years ago....I'd say the next album is the last. Maybe it's Axl's voice, maybe he just has nothing left to say....but Slash and Duff working on CD leftover feels like that's all there's left to squeeze out of GNR as far as new music goes.
  16. Overall, no, but with CD I'd rather they just get the album out there before basically all of it is either played live, released as a single or leaked. I loved CD but by the time it actually came out I'd already heard all but maybe 4 songs.
  17. Well you're a pleasant one aren't you? I just thought it was odd to introduce their upcoming single in somewhat of a self-deprecating way and Axl's past, say, 25 years show that he's hesitant to release new music because he doesn't seem to think anything is good enough until it's been tinkered with until it's perfect.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if Axl wouldn't release Absurd until it was played live and he saw how it went over. I mean, he even made a crack before they played it about it being 'absurd' they're even trying it. Odd way to introduce you're new single.
  19. I think Axl's said in the past that there were some songs he saw potential in and wanted to work on but Slash wanted them as is and for Axl to just sing them. Didn't he say "Fall to Pieces" was one of them?
  20. It's from Duff's book. He said what made dealing with Axl more frustrating was that he actually agreed with him a lot of times musically. He thought Slash's stuff was too bluesy for GNR too and sided with Axl there.
  21. It took them 20 years to figure it out but if Axl sings Slash songs and Slash works on Axl songs it seems like everyone gets along and things run smoothy.
  22. Apparently Duff didn't like Slash's material for GNR either.
  23. In his book, Duff said that when he got sober Axl was really supportive and they actually hung out doing sober activities so their relationship seemed good. But he became frustrated with Axl wanting to work at night, if he wanted to work at all, and how the band just wasn't going anywhere. It seems like he would have stayed if anything was actually happening but it wasn't so he moved on. There didn't seem to be any hard feelings at the time.
  24. It sounds exactly like it did live, no surprises there. Is that just Axl vocal tracks from 20 years ago though?
