  1. Retarded? Check your GN'R quotes. Baz said we'll hear The General on the third Chinese Democracy album in 2012. That means the second Chinese D. album should be coming out soon since there's still a few more months in 2011. It's a sad day when you find out GNR fans are paid employees on a message board, happy to hear Estranged in concert but not smart enough to remember what Sebastian Bach said just a few short years ago.

People have said many things over the years, almost all of them didn't pan out.Experienced fans take everything with a pinch of salt, I suggest you do the same.

No. Axl told Sebastian that album three comes out next year. Album 2 wasn't spaced properly or it would have been released in 2010. It should -even though late- be released before years end.

    Ok lets try this again.

Axl and others have said many things that didn't go to plan.

So, just because with an album title "GNR Lies" Guns N' Roses admitted they don't tell the truth, doesn't mean it's okay to not release new songs. Where's Chinese Democracy 2? Axl's songs are his babies and he wants to protect them. Fine. But it's been like 15 years. At some point you have to let them out into the world and go to college. Where's Chinese Democracy 2?

  2. Nice thread. I think Estranged needs more love from us. We were praying for they to play this song since 2001. Now they are doing it.

More love? We've been loving Estranged since September 1991. Okay fine, Axl's songs are his children, but it's been a long time. He didn't show his kids for like 15 years. At some point you have to let them go off to college and let people see them. Where's Chinese Democracy 2?

  5. Maybe Axl will go for digital distribution next time around. It'll save of having screwed up booklets, and space in Best Buts warehouse(S)

That would actually probably be the best idea. If GNR on their website offered 14 new songs for sale or on I Tunes, it would help sell the tour, if in fact America is on the list of places for an extensive tour.

  6. I remember Axl saying, I think it was to Kurt Loder, "I'm not doing all this to keep it buried." Since 1999 Axl has been talking about a trilogy of albums. You have to almost not even think about it because it would be so exciting for GNR fans and even the fair weather fans. What I thought was interesting on the Eddie Trunk 2006 show was that Axl said, "We released that thing three times." He was talking about Appetite but could also have been referring to his plans for his Chinese D. trilogy.

  7. How many copies would Chinese D. 2 need to sell for CD 3 to come out the next year. Okay, Sebastian said 2012 is the third album and the end of the trilogy when The General is released. If people walked into Best Buy this year in the fall and saw a GNR album with the same Chinese Democracy logo, no part 2 listed, just Chinese Democracy with a picture of a grenade that says How Are You? I think they would snatch up that cd immediately. The Grenade cover is startling and exciting. Plus the bike cover has the pointed arrow sign moving out of the basket. The blood drops on the grenade make an arrow also. I picture the bike, the grenade and the painting of the guy pulling the bandana around his head as the third album cover. That would be my ideal trilogy of album covers. OMG it would be spectacular. But the question is how many albums would CD2 need to sell to put out that third album the year after. I think a year is a good enough time span. GNR could still be on tour. It happens in movies like The Matrix and even Avatar where the first movie is released and then several years later the two movies following are released the same or a year apart. I also think it would be a bold, cool move to not even title it part 2 or 3. It's like you could arrange them in whatever order you wanted. Here's Chinese Democracy AGAIN, only with a different cover and different songs. It would be so awesome. Also, Best Buy might have reduced the price, just to get Chinese D. part 1 out the door and sold to make room for part 2. It's all speculation but it's just my hope that the trilogy could be released a year apart or within the same year for the following two albums.

  8. Shania Twain's Come On Over is on the same list as Appetite as being one of the biggest selling albums of all time in America. After she made that album, I think she did one more and for a while that was it. Billy Joel is on the same list with his double great hits album. So is Garth Brooks with his double live album. Haven't heard anything new from Joel or Brooks for years. When a person has a product that has and continues to do well, what people tell you as an artist is: "You'll be competing with yourself if you put out an album. If you release something new it might jinks what's already selling." It's always something to look forward to. The Illusion albums came out twenty years ago this coming September. Chinese D. is the best album in my opinion but if we got some kind of update about future albums I'd be happy. DJ Ashba is saying Axl has three albums worth of material. That's great news. I can only hope Sebastian got some good information when he was told 2012 we would hear the song The General, although....tick tock, tick tock....as GNR fans get older and time goes by, we have even less time (sorry, THYME, LOL) to enjoy what we know will be future masterpiece albums.

  9. You can be inspired by someone but your only obsession should be with oxygen. You have to think about how offensive your interest could be to somebody if it isn't normal. And when I say normal I can't help but think of what happened to Mr. John Lennon. Distinguishing between a crazy person and a person that just really likes you is not something you should ask your hero to determine about you. It's better to keep your distance than to make your hero uncomfortable with your interest or presence. I've never been to a GN'R concert. I will probably never meet Axl Rose. The only way I'd meet him is if someone we both knew introduced us and I don't think we have any mutual friends.

As for the band GN'R: I'm really looking forward to any music that is ever released from that group. Rock on GN'R! And bring on some more Chinese Democracy songs!

  10. Thanks for posting that video. I always have to go back here to the past. That's okay. Maybe some things are a one time deal like the speech in that video. This is why Axl means something to people. This is why Axl means something to me. When Axl is retired someday and maybe just chilling in Malibu I hope I get the chance to write and mail him a hand written letter to tell him that he's not all alone. To tell him, somebody is thinking of him. In that letter I'm going to tell him that somebody was listening back in 91 and 92. Somebody heard what he was saying. I hope I get that chance someday. I don't know if I'm the only fan of Mr. Rose living in the same city he lives in. But it was a voice like his that inspired me to work hard enough to realize what he was saying in that video was true. And I could move from the east coat...all the way to Malibu. God bless you Mr. Rose.

  11. There will be a new GN'R album out either in December or January. Can't wait. That was cool of Ron and DJ Ashba to update with info. The cool thing is that all the news media sources didn't just post DJ Ashba's press release. They remembered Axl's comments about there being 3 albums with number 3 dropping in 2012 so they reminded everyone to keep a look out for a new album before the tour. I think Mr. Bob Dylan has been on the "Never Ending Tour" but most artists release an album to promote before they go on the road. Again, that was so cool of those guys to update with info. That's what everyone wants: the unreleased Chinese Democracy songs. Can't wait to hear Part 2 of the Chinese Democracy Trilogy.

  12. I know Axl knows who John Galt is because a song title he confirmed he wrote is called Atlas Shrugged. John Galt in the book Atlas Shrugged gives an amazing speech announcement basically flooring everyone within listening distance.

I was a little bit not happy that I hadn't heard anything from The Beastie Boys about their two albums Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 and 2. I like those guys. They're really good at what they do. What made me happy this past week was that if you go to BeastieBoys.com you read their big announcement that Hot Sauce Committee part 2 will be released next spring.

So who cares about Beastie Boys? Me. Because I like them. Should an artist only put out material if there is a big taco bell promotion working up rock writers into a frenzy? (Taco Bell gives out a free taco if you buy the new GNR album)

The point is this: It's about the fans. You don't worry about every person on planet earth liking you. After you've had a 20 year career, you don't worry about the people who say "So what. I'm a fairweather fan. I don't care anymore since every song isn't welcome to the jungle."

Axl doesn't have to talk to a single journalist if he doesn't want to. He can tour as long as he wants and make as much money as he wants touring. That's awesome. It makes me happy to see that guy doing his thing on stage all over the world.

But......when will he make that big announcement? The one about how Chinese Democracy is not finished yet. The one about how yeah, Sebastian Bach was right. The one about 2012 is the third album and obviously 2010 is the second album.

U2, R.E.M. and Beastie Boys: all of those groups in the past week announced plans for a spring 2011 album release. I'm really happy to hear about all those new albums. I think GNR was popular around the time all those bands were popular. If people want to hear from those bands enough that they're making a new album, then people would probably look forward to a new GNR album.

  13. Tommy, on Twitter, showed a picture of himself at the vatican. I took a few pictures in there too. I can relate to what he said about it having heavy vibes. It's really an amazing place. Keep up the good work Mr. Stinson.

    Chinese Democracy 2 in 2010?

  14. It's true...

Just like if NIN's The Fragile had been two albums, released separately. They would have sucked...Too unconsistant...

The Fragile, as a double album however, rocks.

But honnestly, I won't whine too much if they just release it lol Actually, I really do hope it gets released because I can't get enough Chinese Democracy.

Thanks for your response. I like Chinese Democracy more than The Fragile, even though The Fragile I think is really good.

Axl inspired me in a lot of ways. An example is that in 2008 I moved from Ohio to Malibu, CA. In 2008 when the Dr. Pepper promotion was announced I knew it was going to be that year. The two things I wanted was to have the opportunity to work in Malibu and get to finally have Chinese Democracy. Both things happened and I was so happy. Axl is a guy that I didn't get to hear from musically for such a long time and when I got Chinese Democracy it was like a letter from someone I really admired but I have to say that I feel like even though it's all the more special to hear somebody's new songs and love them because you haven't heard anything from them in such a long time, you have to expect that you'll never hear from them again and there is nothing more they will ever release musically. It's just what a true GN'R fan has to tell themselves given the history of silence from Mr. Rose.

Anyway, it would mean the world to find out Chinese Democracy 2 would be out soon. I'm happy GN'R is touring but if I could purchase a few things from the band it would be great if they released their best concert from the new GN'R lineup on DVD and also release Chinese Democracy 2.

  15. I'm of the opinion, and I'll use the two Velvet Revolver albums as an example, that releasing a double album all at one time makes it easier to appreciate an entire musical vision than releasing two albums years apart. It's difficult, as much as I like Contraband and Libertad to listen to both albums at one time because neither feel like a singular vision.

It was my hope and still is, if Axl says he thinks of Chinese Democracy as a double album, to be able to hear the rest of the Chinese Democracy session songs before years have gone by. What ends up happening is, you have one album you know very well and instead of listening to the artist's ENTIRE vision for the group of songs, because you've heard those 14 songs so many times, you move on to the next album and put on hold listening to the first 14 songs. It would be a good problem to have to figure out if only Chinese Democracy 2 was released this year.

I love Guns N' Roses. I don't have a problem with, in fact I love, the new GnR. But what is the time frame for Chinese Democracy 2? I realize the real money maker for an artist is touring and not releasing albums but what about fans who love albums and would even enjoy an update now and again?

Okay, here's the answer to all of it. I realize what it all means. If there's only 14 songs it means the band gave you less songs but worked harder on those 14 to make them even better as apposed to making 32 songs with a little bit less quality for each song. I can go with that line of thinking if I hadn't heard that there were other songs that have been worked on.

I'm looking forward to hearing Thyme, The General, Atlas Shrugged, Silkworms, Berlin.......etc. I do appreciate what I have with the first Chinese Democracy album. I love it. I'm listening to it right now. But if the other songs from Chinese Democracy really mean something, and I know they do because they mean the world to me and I haven't heard them, then can somebody give an update about what their status is?

  16. Right before they announce that the new album is coming - they should do something nice for the fans.

That way - they kick off the campaign with the fans in their corner.

Instead what we'll probably get is a bunch of denials - like when the Asian dates started trickling in.

That's a cool idea but as a fan, for me, I think Chinese D. 2 is enough for this year.

  17. Why is so hard to understand that Axl doesn`t like the press ??? MAN, IT'S HIS ALBUM. WE SHOULD JUST LISTEN AND SUPPORT IF WE WANT. If he doesn't want to promote, fuck him and everyone who don't like. Are we clear ?

Maybe you don't LIKE working at McDonalds, but you still get up every morning and start flipping those burgers. What a childish response to a suggestion.

I think it's pretty obvious that Axl isn't a big fan of the press, so I doubt any more albums will be heavily promoted.

Axl gave Kurt Loder some really great interviews before UYI came out. There wouldn't be anything cooler than seeing Axl on a late night talk show while Letterman holds up a copy of an album cover with a grenade on it!

but if you hate flipping the burgers... but still flipped the shit out of them 15 years ago, in fact, you flipped them so well that you became the owner of McDonalds for a few years and made enough $$$ to never work again...

then you started going to McDonalds again today but you don't really have to flip the burgers... you just got a solid office job that doesn't make as much as flipping the burgers. you wouldn't go flipping the burgers just for the extra cash would you now?

Extra cash? Come on dude, those AFD royalties can't sustain an entire GNR staff forever. I've seen that biggest selling music artists of all time list and some of those people on it have experienced financial trouble.

  19. Touring is essential to selling an album you've released. As we who live in America have seen, GN'R has been playing a lot of dates in a lot of places around the world. Europe is next and who knows, maybe Axl and company will do a tour of the U.S. Touring is the major factor on how to sell an album but what really generates buzz is.......... doing interviews. It's a way to promote. Not everyone is a die hard GN'R fan. Some people are casual fans. Maybe WTTJ is the only reason some people will go to a GNR show. The bottom line is in the touring department Axl is doing everything right.

Courtney Love just mentioned Axl on Howard Stern so I'll use her as an example. Her album just came out I think last week. She hit every major show. The View. Jimmy Kimmel, Letterman. She also got on the cover of SPIN magazine and did an interview.

I watched the Tokyo concert dvd's a few nights ago and couldn't help but understand what Axl is probably thinking. "How at this point in my career can I go out and convince people on talk shows if I haven't convinced them already?"

MY OPINION as to what GNR should do is pretty simple. Nearing the end of the Europe tour, they should make an announcement that the follow up sequel to Chinese Democracy will be out in two months. Along with that announcement they should release a U.S. schedule of tour dates. The week the follow up to Chinese D. is released, Axl and the boys should hit every talk show possible. Three major late night shows would be enough. The "Good Morning America" Grenade cover is the best possible album cover and it would also answer the question as to what was in the bike basket.

"Ask yourself what I would do to prostitute myself."

Well, that's what I would do.

  20. Does it inspire you at your job, relationships, etc?

    - Hell yeah.

I just think it's great and productive to not only be a fan of a rock band but also to use that inspiration in your daily life. I know Axl and the guys would say if you asked them something to the effect of: "Hey, thanks for loving GN'R as a band but go do something with the inspiration. Be the best person you can be!"
