  1. If Guns N' Roses has meant something to you, what areas of your life does the music inspire? An example would be, if you're going thru a rough work day, do you think of GN'R as an inspiration to be the best person you can be at your job?

    Interested to hear your thoughts.

  2. I've met him recently, and he is NOT what some fuckers are trying to make him look like.....

Pleasant, cool, and he LISTENS TO YOU when you talk......

Thanks for all the cool stories and comments. Axl is probably a really cool guy to know.

  3. I'm on it like sticky old bubblegum on a pavement!!! rock3

Dude, I respect you and all but if you win and carry on like that, I have a feeling the gunners will tell you the party is in some room and you'll find yourself alone in a storage room with their amps.

  4. So first Bumble posted this on his Twitter account:

I want to do something special for the South Americans. Hmmmm.... will give you more information later tonight...

about 11 hours ago via web

    Then he posted this:

My gift to the S. Americans... enjoy! http://www.baldfreak.com/contest.html

Bumblefoot's “Be My Guest” South America Contest

Win tickets as Bumblefoot's guest on the South American Guns N' Roses tour!

That's a really cool idea and invite from that guy.

  5. I hope it's not fake but if it is it's too bad instead of creating new music and touring, artists have to spend time shutting down rumors that don't benefit anybody.

  6. Whenever I read that BOOM all I picture is the cover of Chinese D. 2 with the How Are You Grenade. (Look at that picture. There is one thing the bike cover of Chinese D. has in common with the Grenade cover. On each is an arrow. One is the road sign. The other is made from what appears to be blood droplets forming an arrow. Both are directing us right)

Anyway, I agree with what you're saying. I will be a happy guy on the day I can hear tracks like Seven, The General, Oklahoma, and Thyme.

This wouldn't surprise me either----but then again neither would another extended wait.

For me, the justification that this could be true, and we could see the followup album drop pretty quick comes down to two things:

    1.Axl didn't spend 15 years working on just the tracks we have now---that's for damn sure. If I had to bet, I would bet that there are quite a few songs including some of the best he's ever done in quite advanced stages of completion (based on the chats, and information that has trickled to us over the years I think this is a no brainer)---{side note 2- now just b/c Axl has a bunch of great songs in advanced stages of completion, doesn't mean a damn thing, cuz he could decide he wants to move in an entirely different direction or what ever.......only thing that's for sure is nothing's for sure}

2.We all know Axl does things on his time table, when he's ready, and that recent article lending speculation to the fact that Axl's working on the follow up to CD, and has something to prove, while the writer was definitely coming off sensationalistic and coattail riding in some respects-----it also sounds plausible---from the standpoint that Axl no doubt wants to be the best, and is known for extending a "grand gesture" or two at times (Secret gigs, 2 album release of the illusions, live discussion with the fans, etc etc etc etc all grand & unexpected).....given the amount of buzz and positive press, etc etc perhaps his ultimate plan is to ride that wave and gain momentum then drop the followup and BOOM

    GNR's back @ number 1.

    Pure speculation & conjecture?-----YES. Plausible & Possible?----YES! Likely?----Not so much.

But I wouldn't count it outside the realm of possibility either. :D

  7. We can only dream :D

Then again, Axl DID once say that he had enough material for a double album, so working on it is a possibility. But FINISHING it? No way in Hell.

He could quite easily be adding some vocal parts and mixing the second half of the Chinese Democracy sessions. Releasing the second half of CD before the US leg of the tour would be a good idea.

If Axl releases Chinese D. 2 this year, he can bring all of his shoes over and I'll shine them. He can even tell me to go get my shine box (like in Goodfellas) and I won't get mad.

  8. Do you guys think Axl's finishing up CD II in New York right now? This article from the New York times mentions something about Axl working on another album. http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/music/new_york_hottest_party_boy_H44lJMpys5ISi02a7jB7hM

Dr. Pepper didn't make the right offer.

If Axl puts CD2 out before the end of the year I'll wash as many of his cars as he can fit in my driveway.

  9. I don't expect to ever meet Axl but if he ever went to an autograph signing in LA and I had thirty seconds, I'd just say I really appreciate and have been entertained by his musical works. I think 30 seconds would be the right amount of time because after that I'd probably be speechless. Anyway, if Dexter ever reads this: Thanks man!

  10. Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have met Axl and if so what is he like? Also, do you think Axl or GN'R would ever do any in store autographs at a record store? There is a cool record store on Sunset called Amoeba Music in LA that I know would love to have them.

  11. I know I'll probably get shit for this, but I thought it would be nice to have a thread without all the negativity and the OMGZ REUNION and GNR educator crap. Disagree with me if you want, but I believe this is an exciting time to be a fan of this band, original line-up be damned.

So, here are some positive things that I'd like to point out:

    - The Asian tour introduced the world to the new and improved GN'R, the one that is determined to take over the world. Lots of positive reviews, Axl seemed like he had a good time, fun was had by all.

    - The Canadian tour was amazing and gave us many 2.5 hour sets, a lot of fun pictures, youtube vids, tweets from Axl and the rest of the band, and a lot to look forward to in the future.

    - Many dates on the South American tour are sold out, and we all know how much they love GNR over there.

    - Axl seems to be having a good time, he's out and about in New York playing surprise shows and hanging out with Baz, giving us novel-length tweets and showing us what's happening in his world a little bit.

So many cool things have happened this year and it's only February. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Cool thoughts. I'm always thinking about how cool it would be to buy new GN'R albums because of what Axl said as early as 1999 about having multiple albums. Chinese D. 2 is what I'd like more than anything. A concert unless recorded and seen again happens and then is over. An album is on tape and can be heard forever. Axl is here and giving us his best and I'm very excited to see what the future holds for GN'R.

Axl Rose & Scarlett Johansson pingpong pals

Axl Rose and Scarlett Johansson sure are spending a lot of time in the same places. The aging rocker and sultry actress were spotted at an after-hours spot in NoHo a week ago Wednesday, the Box on Thursday, and the Boom Boom Room on Sunday until 3 a.m. On Tuesday of this week, after the curtain of "A View From the Bridge," Johansson was seen playing pingpong with Rose at SPiN. "They were laughing the whole time," says a spy. "They looked like they were having fun." The Guns N' Roses frontman later turned up solo at celebrity haunt Avenue. A different source said, "He swaggered in wearing jeans and an unbuttoned T-shirt, showing off his chest, and wearing lots of bracelets and rings. He had a pingpong paddle in his hand . . . He was in a good mood drinking vodka . . . He even danced on the table for a while." Johansson's new husband,Ryan Reynolds, is in New Orleans filming "Green Lantern."

    ,

That was a fun read. Thanks for posting. Now I want to go watch Lost in Translation.

  13. I want more piano, and something unique like a xylophone.

I love the xylophone as an instrument but I think GNR would only use it in a subtle way on maybe one part of a song although if Axl recoded an entire song with an xylophone you know it would be good. There's actually a part in Chinese D. the song that underneath the guitars you can hear an instrument that actually sounds like an electronic xylophone and it reminds me of another classic song by The Boss. In Born to Run the song there is the same kind of sound. Hard to explain.

Even if Axl is just too commited to some of the stuff in his alleged vault to scrap it entirely, he should let the new guys re-recolrd a version is he is intent on keeping it.

We don't need another album of people out of the band for 5 years.

as long as the music is good, i'm not concerned with how old it is or if a couple of the guys it features have moved on to different things.

As long as the music is good is right on dude.

  14. Lets say all the unreleased music was put to one side and this lineup wrote a totally new album. How different would it sound? Similar to Chinese? More straight up rock? A lot of the people who wrote CD are gone now. Frank is a more straight up rock kinda drummer, Ashba has more of a 'Slash-type vibe'. Are we moving away from the industrial\metal vibe Finck brought in? The more experimental edge from Bucket and Brain?

I think we'd see more of a straight up rock album, but Bumblefoot and Pitman could see some more interesting sounds blended in.

I'm not saying it would sound like Appetite or that I don't want to hear the other stuff(because I really want to hear what else is out there, love CD) but I would be interested to hear your thoughts. What would this lineup sound like purely on it's own?

No. I like how Chinese D. has the Exile on Main Street grit along with the polished OK Computer sound. I, and I know a lot of other people, look forward to Chinese D. 2. Why would you set aside your songs and start over? November Rain was there for AFD but GNR didn't throw it away. They knew it was good and just gave it more time and then released it.

  15. I thought maybe I was the only one who misses the feeling of the anticipation of Chinese. But like its been said, i feel like we are only half way thru the journey. I hope with the touring that the band is doing and how it just seems like Axl is having a blast and I honestly never thought he be this happy, least to me, he seems as happy as ever. Maybe with the weight off his shoulders, him and the band being in good spirits, he will release another album. Chinese Democracy was a great album to me, the songs really mean alot me and in a way, feel like they were written about me and my life. Even tho its not, but thats the magic that this band has on me. Much like a relationship, this band has its ups and downs with me and has changed and saved my life more times than I can count. Chinese Democracy kinda reminds me of a time of maturing. With rock n roll. If we got such a great album this time around, just image what the next one is going to be like.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm right there with you in hoping there's a part 2 to Chinese D. It's really the best. I've said this before but my only concern for Chinese D. 2 if there is one is that the sound mastering and volume level is exactly like Chinese D. part 1. There is never a reason to worry about the actual music if it's coming from Axl because you know he won't release it unless it's good. That's my only thought about what I would want in terms of a recording sound.

  16. I feel like I'm only just getting into CD now, right now it's like how AFD was back then, everytime I listen I'm blown away. I even like TIL now. With the possibilty of more to come I definitely wouldn't say no, especially if that's how it was meant to be.

I really like your line of thinking about Chinese D. Tonight I listened to Madagascar, TIL and Prostitute. I love the album of course but I wanted to hear the finale and those three songs do it for me.

Part of me thinks it was really great when Use Your Illusion came out because we got two albums at the same time but now I think I'm just excited with the HOPE that there could be more albums. I'm still hoping this will be Axl's Lord of the Rings trilogy. If it happens I'm thrilled. If it doesn't though it's okay because I never expected Chinese D. part 1 would see the light of day or at least that I'd be here to get it. I'm just happy that for me, Chinese D. has only improved as I listen to it.

I find myself listening to 3 or 4 packs from CD quite often. It seems like I'm into different songs every other week. I've been really into Sorry ever since the Montreal and Toronto shows. That song kicked my ass live.

It's just like Use Your Illusion. If I know I have time I prefer to listen to every song on both I and II. I usually try to listen to all of Chinese D. but if I don't have time I think of the last three tracks as almost one epic song.

  17. Don't get me wrong, I think GNR are the best ever, but thats just my opinion.... I never listen to the Stones or Zep . Thats for my parents

The top 3 best bands in terms of judging the overall quality of their albums would be:

    1. The Beatles

    2. Guns N' Roses

    3. The Clash

  18. I feel like I'm only just getting into CD now, right now it's like how AFD was back then, everytime I listen I'm blown away. I even like TIL now. With the possibilty of more to come I definitely wouldn't say no, especially if that's how it was meant to be.

  19. He also said that the package, in terms of the album, is delivered, in how view, when there is a tour behind it and promotion such as videos and singles are released.

At this point then it is time to abort that plan, because the album is dead. There are going to be no more singles. The first 2 couldn't get a lick of airplay, yet 14 months later a new single is going to magically take hold? Not going to happen.

The problem with Axl and his handlers is you can't create a HTGTH world of pretend in the real world. Just wishing it would be doesn't make it so.

He waited too long to show any interest in this album after it was released to ever hope to do anything constructive with it. That is reality.

Whether it is the first CD tour with the album out or not is irrelevant, because having been on 2 CD tours already he watered down the impact a CD tour would have as touring on the album name and playing half of it live to most people constitutes a tour in support of the album.

Pretending those tours didn't happen doesn't erase them, and outside of a few songs on the normal set list (not that one marathon show) people have already pretty much seen the same CD show in 06.

It is this same naivete that saw them release a pair of singles last year (one that had been played live 7 years earlier) and the other that had been circulating around the net for 2.5 years in almost identical final form (the Better leak) and pretending that it wasn't going to have an impact on their success as singles.

They weren't official releases, but it doesn't mean that people hadn't already heard them in many cases. Just slapping the "official" label on them didn't change a thing. They were still old songs that weren't fresh and weren't generating excitement.

Much the same way this tour is just a retread of the same 06 tour, and is not going to generate the type of excitement in markets they hit in 06 as it would with a new album of songs that they hadn't spent a ton of time playing live with a new single on the radio people actually cared about.

Billy Corgan is a songwriter who's work I really enjoy. He has updated his fans with info about his new 44 song album he's releasing one song at a time in the next few years. Billy Corgan has mentioned a lot of details to his fan base and it's really great to see a rock star that actually deserves fans by keeping them posted on what's in store. Here's the point: As nice as it is getting so much musical material from other bands we love. As nice as it is getting updates about the musical goings on from bands we love. We still, at least all of us here, go back to GN'R and care about their music and one of the reasons is "the not knowing." It is always a mystery what is happening from one year to the next.

  20. I'd hope that they don't call the next album Chinese Democracy 2...

I have mixed feelings about this. In one sense, they ARE songs that were recorded during the Chinese Democracy sessions. Also, it would justify them going out on the 3rd "Chinese Democracy World Tour" since 2002.

On the other hand, that name has a certain negative stigma about it that this band might want to get rid of. A different title for the next album might seem like a fresh start to some of the more lukewarm and out of the loop fans, aka the majority.

To be honest, they can call it "Clown Farts" and I'd still buy the damn thing. I just wanna hear it.

The Clash was a band that released double and triple albums. Actually Bill Price, the guy who engineered Sandinista! also worked on the Illusion albums. Anyway, even though a lot of bands release a double album one time and then go back to releasing single albums, it would be nice to see GN'R follow in the footsteps of a band like The Clash that put out a big group of songs under the same title.

  21. Hey guys, I noticed on the Iron Man 2 trailer, the logo lettering is:

    IRON 2 MAN

The 2 is out front a little bit but it's in the middle. It seems like Chinese D. 2 would be even more interesting looking like this on the album cover:

    Chinese 2 Democracy.

Interested to hear your thoughts about this.
