Damn I kinda feel sorry for him. Also idk but I felt like those interview dudes were low key mocking Rick

so the dude bought the music... got scammed by the dealer...

and if it was a joint buy... presumably they all shared the music... what was the point in him returning a USB stick. And why he even expose him self?

who in the end ended up with the original CDs?

and is this bloke on the forums?

    Yep. Dead on.

It's like the age old "no Slash shirts" rumor. I always thought "Oh come on, now that's complete bullshit!" until I saw it happen at the Chicago HoB show.

We were all standing in line and about 30 minutes before the doors opened, a couple of guys were sent out to scan the line for Slash shirts. They even had a guy turn his T Rex shirt inside out because it sort of looked like Slash.

If I hadn't seen it for myself, I never would have believed it. Anyways, the point is that I'm 100% certain Axl Rose never told anyone that Slash shirts shouldn't be allowed. Some dumb ass in his little circle of people probably took it upon themselves to make that rule.

it appears GNR aint the only band with a Tshirt obsession.

  3. Well, it's hard to distinguish Axl, from people who do stuff on Axls behalf.

It's like those 2 morons that go around claiming copyright infringement.

Same goes for people around Axl.

If Del or Beta come and say to some random bloke to do something... those guys think it probably came straight from the man him self.

And I wouldnt be surprised if most of the rumours are generated because of the Proxy-Axls. (No matter if their intent is good or bad)

  4. you are forgetting that slash got kicked out at Las Vegas 2002? show. So how was Axl expecting an apology from the guy?
if Axl had been in a bargaining mood back then, he wouldn't be kicking the guy out, or saying that he's up his ass.

I think if anything these leaks have proven that whatever happened in '02 that caused the 6-year delay was outside the music

Im talkin out of my ass... but if I were to guess, I'd say that Interscope stopped paying the studio time.

That would explain the 2002 tour, as a way to fund the album completion. VMA was probably a boost for negotiating a new contract with Interscope, as a proof that the band is still relevant.  in 2003 the album was probably finished again... and after that God only can guess.

Riad was my obsession back then. I searched for every single forum and mailing list and never found anything to back up this statement. I do remember people calling Riad as Oklahoma because of the misunderstood.

Saw it on lost rose.com back then. It had oklahoma on it

  7. wow! Shankler is so fkin raw! Sounds like Buckethead on steroids! The final version is much more "polite" sounding... but fk... do I prefer the raw sound of Shankler!

"Sorry" guitar, reminds me of Darth Wader... its like buckethead was going for a morbid imperial march theme!

Mustache sounds like Buff version of Lords of Karma by Satriani pwnsome!

For all we know the other CD songs probably had "rougher" vocals in earlier stages too, tho.

I'm not sure if most songs had any lyrics a lot sooner than 99. so I doubt there were "2-3" vocal variants. unfortunately there's no evidence to claim so.

I expected that Axl would go back to studio and rerecord his parts, after Baz had instructed him to do vocal training etc. Since a perfectionist would try to see what he can do with his new "technique"... but nothing came out of it.

  9. I know the purpose of rough mixes and rough previews, and I do those for my line of work as well. And I wouldnt comment if I didnt notice that other songs from the same seasions hadnt had the vocals updated up to 2008 release date.

And its not a stretch of the imagination to think that Axl considered this song vocally "Finished" as well. (none of the 99 leaks had a single vocal track updated in 9 years... one would think he'd redo those vocals just for shit and giggles after such a long time)

I had hoped that first 2 min TWAT vocals would improve as well in the final cd... but they remained the same. And there's something offputting about them as well - the voice is perfect, but the lyrics/music feel forced togather up to the "bound to see for my self" part (and I know its a shit thing to say... especially from a "Fan" but cant help to criticize)

and I think a good producer would have put emphasis on such things... and squeezed more out of a song. Hell... to be perfectly honest... I think every song on CD (except for scraped) had the potential to be "The best GNR song"... but  in many cases, production/arrangement failed to push the concept to its potential. And thats what producers are there for... to squeeze every last drop of the juice. And there's a lot of juice untapped... and even I as a laik see that.

its no wonder that for me the most flawless CD songs are the ones that had the simplest concepts: OMG, Madagascar, Sorry, Shackler, Chinese democracy, Catcher in the rye, Blues . These songs stuck to the basic Idea.  Others are using 2-3 different voices... 2-3 different themes... and for that, you need a good producer to pull off well, otherwise, the song looses integrity.

Was listening to "State of Grace" last night and Axl really does the song a disservice by singing the verses so lazily

Should have re-recorded those lines at some point

agreed. I feel like the kid in "emperors new clothes" every time I think how to cringe they are. And I feel like im the only one noticing the obvious.

Or just get someone else to sing it... or skip it all togather. But the vocals are like he has nasal infection

I feel like there is a difference between the powerful, clean vocals (used all over the album and the 2001-2002 tour) and what I understand to be 'Mickey'.

Pigeonholing Axl into one catagory is silly though, man. The man himself is very eclectic and is very capable of branching out into other areas.

raspy voice is the best part of his voice, and I'm suprised that he went with the clean but nasal sound on so many songs. it goes well with Madagascar and Blues. But TWAT and Prostitute could go well with rasp.

but on the other hand, choosing a clean voice for most Chinese Democracy songs, has integrity...if you consider what in hindsight were production priorities.

chinese democracy songs are far more lyric-driven, and put much more emphasis on story telling than on the whole picture.

While UYI and AFD had voice mesh with the instruments, the instruments are almost a backdrop for many of the CD songs. Notable exceptions from this rule are

3 songs: Shackler, Sorry and IRS, which have somewhat balanced vocals and instruments. The pacing of those songs is different to all other songs... and maybe thats why the homogenous sound was more successful.

since previous albums were less of a story (they had great lyrics... but sounded like a mesh of sounds, and lyrics are often had ambiguous meanings),...

while CD has been produced so you can focus on each instrument and vocal individually... and lyrics are far more explicit and literal (twat intro is an explicit story)...

so I guess the point was to understand the lyrics from the get-go...

I liked the old arrangement more

(english isnt my default language, so I relied more on the feel and energy of the song than lyrics when I first listen to them, and now, the lyrics are sometimes to much in my face)

unlike this: where vocals were like a magic sauce... and he could be singing about teletubies, or whatever, and I wouldnt care :D

I could get at my brother about that too. He was in a band years ago and wrote all the lyrics back then.

Plus, he's a Slash fan, so he could easily write something about Slash lol

I can do that for Me and my Elvis..

found it funny that the tune goes well  with "Me and my Axl", so thats how I hum the lyrics when its playing :D

Its cool to see that in order, thanks. Iirc there was one further post along the lines of 'Kids, drinking and FB dont go together' or something?

I also like the unsubstantiated claim that Duff threw him up against a wall when Pitman showed up for rehearsal. Which, on the off chance that its a true story, would suggest that Axl didnt fire him (since he showed up for practice) and that maybe Duff did.

    Why would duff do that?

  14. I know he had some rage tweet a while back. Can someone tell me what actually had happened with him.

Did he quit, was he kicked out,....

Also, were there any comments by any of the band members about his involvement in writing music and stuff.

All I know is he cowrote silkworms... But other than that any info is vague.
