  1. RHCP were the first example to come to mind because I saw them earlier this year, and Black Summer definitely got the biggest reaction out of the new songs they played. But GNR don't have to release WTTJ 2.0 or anything epic. Just a decent, catchy song. Perhaps is probably the best radio single out of the songs we've heard, it's catchy enough and the hey-hey's are a classic Axl-ism. SOYL got a lot of airplay here when it was released, I could see Perhaps being just as popular if it's mixed well and has a decent solo. But they'd have to operate like a professional band, and we know that's not gonna happen.
  2. Yea, a new single isn't gonna fill stadiums, but it helps keep things fresh and gives the impression that GNR are a real band. I still hear Black Summer regularly on the radio, and when I saw the Chili Peppers earlier this year it got a good crowd response. I think GNR could do similar with Perhaps. If they released a single with a video, maybe a live performance, and promoted it like professionals, it would at least get casual fans talking.
  3. I think late 1988 was the only time they did it somewhat regularly, then some random 2012-13 shows. It's a good opener though.
  4. GNR haven't played in Canada since 2017 and those shows are selling poorly, too. Fact is, they're charging more for a worse show. Casual fans don't live in this weird bubble where Axl "doesn't sound too bad for a guy in his 60s". His voice has deteriorated, they've released nothing but old songs and overpriced box sets, stripped the stage show right down, and they're charging a lot more than 2017. It shouldn't be surprising that most fans will either wait until they heavily discount the tickets, or spend their money on a better show.
  5. Got tickets to see The Struts in November
  6. Well duh. Why would I spend 3-4X the money when tickets go on sale, if they're gonna be heavily discounted a week before the show? I got cheap-ish seats for the Vancouver show but I'm keeping an eye on the Seattle show. If I can get a pit ticket for somewhere between $100-200 a few days before the show, I'll pull the trigger. But I'm definitely not gonna pay the almost $500 price they're asking for pit tickets right now.
  7. You know how every few months, someone will post evader's version of The General thinking it's a real leak? This project almost guarantees another decade of new fans posting "Oklahoma with vocals!", "Zodiac with vocals!", etc.
  8. Adding staples to the set that fit Axl's natural voice was a great decision, I'd been hoping for Bad Obsession, Down On The Farm and Pretty Tied Up for ages. Only other deep cuts they should've brought back were You Ain't The First and the slow You're Crazy, but maybe we'll see those later in the year or next year. Overall this was Axl's best tour since 2017. It seems kind of insulting to the European fans not to release Perhaps, though. They soundchecked it at several shows and it seems ready to be played live, if not released, so they should've given those fans something new. I'm a bit more hyped for the Vancouver show now than when I initially bought the ticket. Hopefully I'll hear one or two new songs at that show.
  9. I don't care what name it's released under, but studio versions of Wichita Lineman, The Seeker, Walk All Over You, Marseilles, etc. with Axl and Slash would be fucking awesome.
  10. I'd love to see Pretty Tied Up or the slow You're Crazy come back as openers, and hear ISE later in the set (like after November Rain, to kick the pace of the show back up.)
  11. It was kiwiguns that said that, not sure how you quoted me... but of course Axl is the hold up on new music.
  12. They could've self-financed the recording, pressing and promotion of a new album (and an accompanying documentary if they wanted to) after just the April 2016 shows. It's absolutely ridiculous to say they've been touring this long just so they can do things independently. Nobody is "throwing millions" at studio time, most of the parts are already recorded (assuming all they intend to release is CD-era songs, like Slash said) and they've all got home studios anyway. From the 2021 singles it seems like they have their own label and can in fact release music when they want to, and have Universal handle the distribution.

  14. It's not though. I realize that when the song leaked everyone jumped to that conclusion, myself included, but it became obvious that it's not Brian. It's almost definitely Robin. What actually makes you think it's Brian? He initially mentioned working on "2 and a half or 3 songs", which were solos on Atlas, Catcher and likely just some rhythm parts on Rhiad. It was confirmed by Tommy, who taught him the Rhiad chords. Perhaps also sounds a lot closer to Robin's playing on The Blues than Brian's solos on the other songs.
  15. Why do people still think it's Brian May on Perhaps?
  16. The SMKC tour starts in January so this will probably come out after. I really hope he does at least a small tour in support of this album with someone other than Myles, though.
  17. Quick Song I thought he might have just copied a Pele post when I read that There could be a version of PRL with vocals, the song was mentioned back in 2001, but that doesn't mean we'll hear it in this lifetime. Same with stuff like TIL '92, YCBM AFD era demo, etc. I have no expectation of ever hearing those recordings but they probably exist...
  18. It's limited to a few thousand copies and has artwork that's easier to find for cheaper.... it might be worth $100 if you hold onto it for a decade. Still seems like a rip off to me.
  19. 6/6/14 show, pretty sure it was during Nightrain, DJ hopped off the stage to play in front of people at the rail, some guy tried to slap him (might've actually clipped his nose, he got pretty close) and was yelling about how he's not as good as Slash. The guy was a total douchebag, and DJ was pissed.
  20. Like I said, Gilby was good at his role and I have nothing against him, but DJ wasn't as bad as people here make it seem (for the most part). DJ wrote solos with the band, did remixes, designed some of the merch from what I remember, and got good reactions from the crowds when I saw that lineup (except for one incident at a 2014 show). I liked the first Sixx AM album and enjoyed them when I went to Cruefest, and Beautiful Creatures had a couple good songs. For better or worse, he fit the 09-14 era well. Gilby on the other hand just doesn't do anything for me. He's not bad, but I'll usually skip his intros if I'm listening to a live show, and his solo albums aren't for me. Not that Duff, Izzy, etc. don't put out bland solo albums, but Gilby is bland even compared to those. Of course, 92-93 was a better era overall than 09-14, but my vote still goes for Gilby.
