  1. The clean voice didn't really "come out of nowhere" in '01-02. On Anxious Disease he was definitely getting closer to the "CD" voice but still had some classic Axl tone, then the CD voice was all over Live Era in '99... I always kinda believed the rumor that the label rejected an album in 2010, but I think sometime between trying to cancel the tour on twitter and the last show in Abu Dhabi, he basically said 'fuck it', and after the shows in December didn't really sing or take care of his voice for the next 10 months, resulting in the Rio disaster. And his voice was already getting thinne
  2. Probably... or at least all the songs with vocals. No, but I don't think that really "exists" in the way people think it does. It's probably either mostly instrumental or has scratch vocals. I think it was Dave Abbruzzese who talked about playing AFD in full (this would've been before the CD sessions really started) and Axl only sang half the lines, in half voice. And since Axl referred to AFD '99 as something to basically just get the band used to those songs, I would imagine it wouldn't have "full" vocals. That's just my guess, though. But there was an instrumental versio
  3. Even at the lowest points of the CD years (2013-14) there was still at least some indication that Axl wanted to release music. That has not been the case in the NITL era. After watching them squander all the momentum they had 5 years ago, this feels worse than any inactive periods in the CD era.
  4. It is truly an album meant to be experienced in a sensory deprivation chamber. He was so ahead of his time that his new age methods weren't appreciated until he reached old age. As Axl would say - better late than never!
  5. This is only true if you're under the influence of psilocybin in a dimly lit room (<200 lumens) that has been blessed by shamanic ritual within the last 71 minutes. The orbital paths of Jupiter and Saturn are only relevant if you listen to the track outside the Chinese month of April. Otherwise, the noise gate could be at 4.87db and you'd never be able to tell! My point was that Carlos had soul and feeling in his playing. Gary is a technical virtuoso but his playing is emotionless. And as everyone knows, feelings > facts. Fact.
  6. Gary Sunshine is an impressive player but he just didn't fit with Guns N' Roses. His sound was just plinky plonky technical wankery. That's when the band really became an Axl solo project.
  7. Insiders have confirmed that legendary GNR guitarist Carlos Booy has returned to the band and has ghostwritten at least 3 albums worth of material, including lyrics. There is serious debate within the GNR camp about whether or not to include CD2 as the fourth disc in the upcoming quintuple album. Duff, Richard and Melissa are all in favor of including CD2, while Slash, Frank and Dizzy prefer the original plan of The Spaghetti Incident 2 being the fourth disc. Nobody has heard from Axl in the last 10 months and they are afraid to wake him from his hibernation, so the issue is expected to b
  8. At best, they'll only release one more album, so they may as well go big or go home. 10-disc box set or bust. (The 11-disc special edition set will contain the CD remix album, and the 12-disc Ultimate Collectors Edition™ will contain the remix album and a partially* edited recording of Axl's phone call to Slash in 2015) *heavily
  9. ITW needs a Kanye West remix and a music video that follows the story of Estranged. But this time, when Axl jumps into the ocean, all the dolphins are skeletons. Melissa rises from the water to play a sweet, sweet sub-bass solo. 12" maxi single with 4 alternate remixes coming soon to an offline retailer near you. Get the tour-exclusive quadruple album at the all-new-show this winter.
  10. Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars tribute to Little Richard at the Grammys... Anderson kills it on the drums as usual, and Bruno sounds great singing some classic rock. Their 'Silk Sonic' performance was great too but the Little Richard tribute was incredible.
  11. Yea we're on the same page. It's a rarity for bands to use recordings from previous members but not entirely unheard of. With GNR, it wouldn't surprise me at all if new material was frankensteined together using Richards guitar part from 2002, Brains drum track from 2001 with Franks overdubs from 2007. vocals from 1999-2006, etc. Slash will play most, if not all of the lead parts, but would anyone really be surprised if Paul or Robin's rhythm tracks ended up being used? I mean the rhythm part on TWAT was pieced together from like 6 different guitar players, and I imagine some of the 'new'
  12. You're right that CD is one-of-a-kind in how it was layered and pieced together, but generally, it's not uncommon for artists to hold onto songs for a few years, and then release them with minimal or zero re-recordings. If GNR release an album in the future (lol) I'd bet at least some, if not most of the vocals will be 15-20 years old... and I would actually hope the drum tracks are that old, too
  13. This is definitely true... there wasn't much interaction at the shows I've seen post-2012, but the shows in 2010-2011 he interacted and reacted to the crowd a lot more, especially at the "dolphin incident" show
  14. Yea there was definitely a sharp decline from 2012-14, and the 2011 tour only happened because Axl lost a lawsuit, it was definitely a commercial low-point. Rio and especially Bridge School were the final nails in the coffin as far as most casual fans were concerned.
  15. They were really hit or miss in North America, in some cities they'd sell 15-20,000 tickets and in others they'd be lucky to sell 5,000 tickets. More often than not, they sold less than 10,000 tickets. Most of the European shows in 2006-10 sold between 10-20,000 tickets though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Democracy_Tour
  16. From wiki: Chinese Democracy won an IFPI European Platinum Award, having sold more than one million copies in Europe,[300][301] and had sold 2.6 million units worldwide by February 2009, according to Universal Music. 5 mil worldwide since its release isn't that much of a stretch, but I don't know where to find the total sales figures.
  17. I was mostly joking, but it also wouldn't really surprise me if Axl was that petty... I mean they didn't even include the Ritz show in the AFD box, even though they showed it at a release party I would also guess that they're in no hurry to give Matt any money or attention after reading his book...
  18. It would probably involve giving money and publicity to "former employees" so... the classic recordings will rot in the vault forever.
