Slash could "lure" Axl in to record by having Dave Grohl play drums on the track or something lol:lol:I'm not in the -Axl is unlikely to be on the album- group, I definitely think the chance is much higher than people think, 50/50 to me. Also didn't GNR cover Parisienne Walkways back in the club days? I somehow recall that being thrown around in this forum somewhere, maybe it was just a rumour.

I'm kinda hoping for Josh Freese again 🤞

I wonder if part of the reason Brain was on tour with them in 2022 was because Slash was working on this album? I'd love to hear what Brain and Slash sound like on an actual new song.

I don't think they ever did Parisienne Walkways, but there's a few Moore/Lynott songs I think they'd sound great on...

My guess is if Axl is on it at all then in my estimation it would 99% be a cover, like Wichita, Walk All Over You or some other song he loves. Can't see him really being excited recording vocals for a new Slash solo song.

I'd be happy if Axl was just playing piano... I hope there's at least 1 or 2 instrumental songs on this album, Slash was doing some nice bluesy solo spots a few years ago. I'd love a studio version of Wichita and I don't care whether it's released by GNR or Slash solo, it would be great. I always thought Parisienne Walkways would be a perfect fit for Axl and Slash to cover...

You mean that Oklahoma could end up being sung by Duff?

From what I understand, this Duff song, Amen, is a demo he wrote but has lyrics, so all it would need from Axl would be the vocals and it all depends on whether Axl would be willing to get into the studio and do that.

Maybe Oklahoma only has one verse, and that will be Axl's contribution to the song, since I don't see him recording new vocals. :P

Ahh that's better your you again, at a certain point you gotta stick with your avatar.

Comparing it to Civil War is a mistake because it gives people a bar that the song has to live up to. I expect we may hear it as one of his solo tracks at some point & it will be a pretty big clue as to how a 'new album' is going if we do tbh.

I just can't believe that will ever happen. It's more likely I think that we could get demos or work in prog mixes of stuff they work on for gnr leaked, but an actual album release of new material i just don't see happening ever.

I'm pretty sure we'll hear it in a few years on one of Duff's solo albums...

Now that we have at least one song name that could in theory be on a new album in Amen I have to wonder how wise it is to put names out there publicly for songs we may not hear for years if at all. Obviously when you get leaks that are actually named like State Of Grace that's different thing, but knowing about The General for years for example probably helped build it into something that could never live up to the expectations of some. I guess I'd rather know than not know.

If anything, the mistake was Duff calling it the 'sequel to Civil War'. But I don't think it really makes a difference because now, almost none of us actually expect this song to be finished and released.

Imagine we finally hear the lyrics/vocals for Oklahoma, and after 3 decades it's been re-worked into a Duff song that still only has one verse from Axl...

Yes but I think it was better as Soul Monster with Buckethead.

I would spend a stupid amount of money on a box set with all the CD era songs up to around 2010. All the demos have been better than the official versions. At the very least, Hardschool and Monsters were a bit dumbed down, but who knows when that actually happened... assuming they really did use the existing drums, and didn't re-structure the songs.

I've been saying all along that it's absolutely singable live. I used to jam it with my band and sang it while playing the riff, too. Feeling vindicated, lol.

Todd generally gets a song or two to just do whatever he wants. Similar to Duff's songs with GNR. So it's actually quite likely that this was Todd's decision and not Slash's. He's had some out there song choices as I recall.

It was probably Slash... I'm sure someone here has the video, but he was playing it at a GNR soundcheck a year or two ago, and Duff goes 'what was that?'

I agree with you but I think you’re contradicting yourself a bit, on one hand you understand it’s a throw away song but you think they could invest in serious animation. Well if the song it’s a throw out it makes senso not to waste too much money on it.

I'm surprised they're doing more than a live video or lyric video, but if it's gonna have a story then they should do better than using AI. One step forward, two steps back - they finally do a video with an actual concept, but in the laziest way possible.

To be fair, the Ritz show was filmed for release with a director and high end cameras and everything. The Selects are basically just live screen rips. And despite that, they have been pretty well mixed. Fortus is always nice and audible.

Some of the selects were in mono ffs  But that's not really the point, of course the Ritz was better, it's a great release and was praised on here. Most selects seemed half-assed and got a mixed response. My point was that when the band releases something good, the responses are positive.

Despite some oversensitive people thinking this place is full of haterz, the criticism of using AI is valid.

Are we sure that all this is just random AI generated stuff and not part of a concept (even if it's a bad one) realized with the help of AI?

I assume, based on the subject of the lyrics, it's supposed to look sort of chaotic or frantic. But like many things made by AI, the details are sloppy. The clip they posted actually looks like it could be a good concept, but the execution is what it is :shrugs:

Of course the reactions to live proshots of the band in their prime will get better reactions than recent live proshots. That doesn't say anything about the quality of the releases though.

I was specifically talking about the quality of the releases - of course people will prefer the band in it's prime, but the blu ray was very well done, and the selects looked and sounded like they were quickly thrown together with little care. That's the difference.

Even with Perhaps, it's not the best music video or anything, but it's well done. Anything 'created' by AI shows how little they care.

Bitch about it as long as you want when it‘s released an you certainly know what the fuck you are bitching about. That‘s the point. It‘s a goddamn 20 sec clip that tells us nothing.
AI? I don‘t give a fuck. Why should I care if it’s AI when the result is something I enjoy.

Like I said earlier, maybe the video will be mostly live footage - I hope it is. I can't really judge it until they release the full thing. But Creative Works posting about it makes it seem like it'll be heavy on AI animation, and the clip we've seen looks like what I'd expect from shitty, cheap AI. Did you not notice literally any details like extra limbs, parts of the characters constantly changing, etc? Of course you didn't notice, but just keep calling anyone who points out very obvious flaws 'whiners'.

The band can absolutely afford to produce better stuff than that, and of course a cheap video for a b-side song isn't a big deal. But if they release shit, then people will bitch about it.

Well, the reaction to The Ritz 91 wasn't all positive when it was announced and the YCBM video was released. I remember a few people being certain (or considering it a serious possibility) that the whole blu-ray would be edited like the video (which they also thought was compiled from different shows)

Yea, I remember that wild 'theory' when YCBM was released lol. But there weren't many people who thought that, and it wasn't confirmed like the AI animation. So, not really the same thing.

Maybe the video will be mostly live shots, which would be nice. But Creative Works posting about it makes me doubt that's the case. I have low expectations but of course I can't really judge the video until I see it.

    I expect at least one.

I gotta say I'm looking forward to this album more than anything Slash has done since Ain't Life Grand. Maybe it's because I'm not a huge fan of Myles voice (i'm sure he will be on at least one song though) but the the idea of who the other singers could be interests me & I wanna hear him do something more blues focused. There is also the tiny chance that Axl may be on it......tiny tiny chance. He should give Reece a song, she got pipes.

I've been saying for years now that the most interesting thing Slash could do would be a blues album, or another album with guest singers. This is by far the most excited I've been for one of his albums in at least a decade. An Axl collab would be great of course, even if he's just playing piano on an instrumental.

It'll be really interesting to see who's on the album, but also who tours for it. I hope he does at least one tour for it without Myles...
