  1. I've honestly listened to these songs for arguments sake and have to say they're not good at all. They're practically everything about a guitar player you don't want. You don't want your guitar player to write songs. You want him to play the guitar.

I think other thing. i want a guitar player who writes good hard rock songs with Axl Rose :)

I hear Bumblefoot songs, are OK but its not my style, i preffer other member to compose.

Let's compare this to the defense case for Ashba in his thread lol.

Im a rare man! haha i prefer Ashba songs !

No problem you're entitled to your own opinion, BBF could probably write radio rock and he'll need to adapt his songwriting for GNR if he ever gets a chance, I wouldn't mind if Ashba was part of the whole process and not the sole songwriter working with Axl.

Yes, he used to write quite a few fun rock songs, which I really like, but do not sound GnR-ish, but I think he's hitting the GnR kinda similar songwriting on this new album and the 11' singles. The way he reworked that There's A Kind of Hush and Bernadette as well as Invisible, Catfight, Father and Let Your Voice Be Heard would all work as GnR songs with Axl vocals and input. In fact he wanted Axl to sing Catfight but Axl was probably too busy complaining about Slash "leaving him".

  2. So far I've seen ChiDem, WTTJ, ISE, Brownstone, Estranged, Catcher, SCOM, YCBM, Catcher, NR, Don't Cry, Civil War, Patience, KOHD, Nightrain, and Paradise City

First of all, you did a phenominal job Rockfuel. The sound is sublime and the video is great. Just excellent work!

Second of all, I was expecting the worst but Axl even sounds pretty great at times. Nothing has made me really cringe and so far I think Brownstone and November Rain may be the weakest of what I have seen. It isn't 2010 or his best 2011-2012 show but it defininetly isn't terrible. Its even great at times.

What did you think of Estranged?

Honestly, I was prepared for a travesty so I was really happy with it. Pretty comparable with all versions since 2011 and I think the high voice works for the song. Wasn't perfect but I am quite happy with it. Only major issue is DJ's one bum note during his solo in it

Same here, really. The instrumental is lovely.

  3. Seems pretty clear it was technical difficulties. Robin got pissed because he couldn't hear himself, even though he tried to explain since long before.

It was Ron, yes, and yes, he also played the final riff but sounded out of place

I was kinda surprised because he did not have time to learn his parts on the new songs, let alone Robin's parts so he just improvised over it.

Maddy from this show had the best ending ever.

Oh, I have to say - Rich had always done a poor job at tempting Bucket's solo here. The solo is not bad, but by no means as good as Bucket's. However, his wah wah pedal effect is greatly exaggerated and the reberb/echo/whatever tries too hard to impress but sounds, yes, exaggerated and takes away from the original solo instead of making it better.

I agree with everything. And yeah, this Madagascar ending was fucking amazing. And his voice back then.. just wow.

Considering that you pointed me out years ago the technical part of what I'm talking about, I'm glad you agree with me!

Wow!!! Robin had a sudden attack of 80´s Metal Bands trashing guitars on stage. I feel for Axl. He wanted so badly to put that behind him. And here comes Robin with that attitude. :rofl-lol:

But it wasnt for show, like Ashba. He was really pissed. It's confirmed that the few times he did this there were technical problems that weren't fixed and he got frustrated.

  4. BBF is a smart guy.

He wouldn't give a ultimatum to Axl ... that would be the end of his job in GN'R.

You can't give a ultimatum to Axl Rose.

You are wrong, believe me - if he wants to, if he's had enough of Axl's lack of interest, he will do it.

...He might even have done that already for all we know. Everyone in the band, management and crew got to know about his countdown and hints since the South American tour, that's a given. They all have twitter, facebook and friends/fans willing to tell them what's going on.

  5. Live Forever - I hear bits from Ballad of Death and Mi amor there. And La Bella Vita. Everything he does you know you've heard it somewhere else. I mean, not only he is too repetitive, his 'vocabulary' is pretty limited. He's got a few licks that he'll repeat until he dies. He will play the similar sounding notes when playing lead all the time, the pick tapping, the similar sounding bends over and over... I mean, I've never heard someone as repetitive as him. He tricks you, he makes you believe that he's better than what he actually is so I'm pretty sure that's why Axl got him. His Sixx: A.M. riffing/rhythm work sounds pretty much similar to most known or unknown Hard Rock or Metal-wannabe bands out there. Nothing is different, nothing is good enough to stand out. I'm not saying that everything is awful, he sounds decent and even good at times, but he's just another guitarist that can appeal to emo teenagers due to his stupid look and "look at me, I'm a badass emo" attitute.

    That was excellent.

Listened to a few tracks off Hermit, it's great too... Gonna have to buy some albums now.. My poor bank account :(

I love his tone here. Much better than his live tone. Oh, and get his new album, it'll be out this year :)

Hermit - http://goo.gl/UrFMvG I love the solo. One of my favorites, just like quite a few of his solos in this album. The album is great, and really song-oriented, unlike his first album. The album is grunge with refined guitar soloing.

Download Hermit off the web, the album is out of print and the record label doesn't seem to be too interested in re-release it, so...

If you can't find it let me know and I'll upload for you.

Judging from what he's saying and the small live clips avaliable, the next album will be his most "normal" album to date. The one he's reaching what he wanted since the very beginning, so I'd wait a few months as it'll be out this year.

But Dash is probably my favorite right now for a few reasons. He explained the meaning of the song which made me like it much more.

"Dash" I missed a close family member's funeral while on tour. Not the first time. I was told of the meaningful words that were said. One thing that struck me was how the headstone will have the date of birth, and the date of death... but it's the little 'dash' in-between the two dates that really matters. That dash represents everything that happens in-between those two dates, a person's entire life. In the end, everything we are, everything we care about, is just a 'dash'. We should respect that little line between the numbers, and make it a good one. Like Lennon said about life happening while we're off making plans, I think life is what passes by pointlessly when we concern ourselves with the wrong things. The little battles we wage against each other, those are the markers that life passes by in-between. I don't want to die and have that dash consist of wasted moments, bad choices and regrets. I'm making the effort to keep the poison out. This is the only chance.

  8. BC had some decent songs, I liked some of them. None that caught my attention, they were very generic mainstream rock songs. Still, they were cool and DJ had cool riffs and decent solos, but he never even tried to stand out. All of the solos had 'safe notes' - they sound good, but you know you've listened to those a million times already. He takes no risk whatsoever, just a bunch of simple melodic notes put together. I'll give it another listen soon.

  9. It will be called The Legend of Guns: An Axl Between SWAGS. Or The Legend of Ashba: The #Demented Collection. Maybe The Legend of Axl: A Top Hat to the Past? Possibly The Legend of the Less Bloated One: Telling Jokes For a Laugh (Seems To Be in a Good Mood Deluxe Edition; comes with a toy Fernando or toy Beta). I like the last one better
