This is actually a fair point that I don't think I have seen mentioned before.

A lot of the Illusions were Appetite left overs.  YCBM, don't cry, knockin, back off, etc.

I guess ths big difference is different people who are in the band now wrote those songs and people want to see what the current band can do.

But the best leftover never released was "Crash Diet" and "Bring it Back Home", but they say they are not actually GNR songs, but West Arkeen songs.

I think you'll find that your analogy was a bit shit and I poked holes in it. If you can't handle "negative" or "arrogant" responses maybe you should stop commenting🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

You're just stupid as the guy that liked your reply.

There's a way to disagree, but you sound and act stupid, imature and arrogant with everyone in this forum. I can take it. People can take it.

But you don't come off as cool, you're just embarrasing yourself, kiddo.

Haven't heard the demo but the guitars make it sound like GNR. What's the problem with that?

The guitars sound thicker, meaner, I think the demo version is way better, give it a try!

Well... no, You could be mine is an officially released song and that's how all of us heard it. HardSkool from the village sessions was a leak of version of the song from 1999. So in one instance you had the final version of a song presented by the band, and in the other you have HardSkool which was not finished. If a fan hears a leak and decides "this is the superior version", I'm sorry but boofuckinghoo! BUT at least you have the other version to listen to whenever you want.

As always, your lack of proper interpretation is astounding, being English your first language I really don't know what to say to you, other than that you just come off as arrogant, always invalidating everyone's opinion in this forum.

Do I care to explain myself to you? But here we go: I made an analogy, a non-real comparison, about the feelling (which is individual and unquestionable) I HAVE, when listening to a sub-new-version of a old song like Hard Skool. We got used to that song for years, as it was, and to listen to an official and so different version feels (again an individual perception as I'm talking only about myself) odd.

Congrats for being the owner of the forum.

I’m curious as to what happen there myself

Caram did a beautiful job on CD (even Absurd is solid) but Hard Skool is just so LOUD. The least dynamic range on any gnr track.

Was Caram the producer? To me the song has a feel of: Do it. Do it now. Forget it. I don't care. Release it now.

The new guitars on Hard Skool and the lack of that slow intro is what bugs me, but maybe the songs have that effect in many of us is because they leaked many years before, we've got used to these songs, and they are just old songs. It's like rerecording You Could Be Mine with different guitars.

WHAT WAS THE LOGIC TO RELEASE SILKWORMS?

I don’t know and would say none. Obviously, Axl surely has his reasons, but from my POV, it’s the worst song out of those, apart from EOY.

WHAT WAS THE LOGIC TO NOT RELEASE THE REMIX ALBUM?

Actually, I don’t know what exactly you mean. "The" Remix Album? And release when? There’s no CD anniversary yet, and the last thing they should do now that they’re back together is release some Axl’s past solo remix.

WHAT WAS THE LOGIC TO HAVE A 7 YEAR TOUR WITH NO NEW ALBUM?

Yeah, tell me about it. Initially, it was hopeful and exciting, and then they turned it into this crude money-maker.

WHAT WAS THE LOGIC TO BUTCHER HARD SKOOL?

That’s... like... your opinion, man. I dig this version, but I dislike the sound. Sounds like a demo.

I know these were more like rhetorical questions on your part, but what the hell. Btw: what's with all the CAPS? You come off as a lunatic. ;)

There's an alternative / remixed Chinese Democracy album version, remember "Blood In The Water" or "Better Gone"? It is the remix for "Prostitute" and "Better".

They shelved the project, but the entire album was remixed to alternate versions, like Marilyn Manson did with "Smell Like Children".

The caps were on purpose, find some sense of humor on you, man.

The song is cool, but there's zero logic in releasing it now as the third single - after two songs from 1999 that we've already received. Nothing would say "we have no creative potential any longer" more than this. And even if some of the casuals weren't aware of the history of these songs, the journalists would surely point it out in the press, especially now that they seem to be getting more critical towards the lengthy tour.

WHAT WAS THE LOGIC TO RELEASE SILKWORMS?

WHAT WAS THE LOGIC TO NOT RELEASE THE REMIX ALBUM?

WHAT WAS THE LOGIC TO HAVE A 7 YEAR TOUR WITH NO NEW ALBUM?

WHAT WAS THE LOGIC TO BUTCHER HARD SKOOL?

This band has no logib whatsoever. :violin:

You are misunderstanding me. The question was Axl of 2022.

And as for Axl/DC, Axl was in much, much, much different vocal condition at that time. He wouldn't manage the same today in his current condition. In the studio he could probably do vocal takes that sound great and maybe sound as rich as those AC/DC songs.

I bet it is a conscious decision and he can rasp it! But the next record will be like Chinese Democracy, with minimum rasp so he can emulate it live on tour.

I liked the leaked version of Oh My God with Bucket's wacky guitar during the chorus. I hope they keep that high in the mix as it was in that demo on the next official release, presumably with Slash and Duff on it.

We know there was interest since that song leaked with Bumble's parts, and I believe it also appeared as an alt with the NITL on a setlist.

Axl said a remix exists that wasn't taken too seriously, but it's possible that remix is not the reworked OMG that leaked since it didn't match Axl's description of it having a wilder guitar intro and lots of new vocals.

Don't get me wrong, I like OMG verry fucking much, I'm just worried that they'll butcher the song as they did with HS and SW.

They were better off the way they were.

  9. 2 hours ago, Sweersa said:

I could easily see re-worked OMG and Atlas being the next singles.

    In 2023.

Then in 2024 we may get actual "new" songs.

OMG being reworked would be more of a anomally than Silkworms being released as Absurd.

But I agree that they might release it next, with no intro and Duff's punk bass kicking it off.

I've heard it said that the amount of clean vocals on Chinese Democracy was a conscious decision on Axl's part to fit some of the songs and likely because his voice in general went through sime changes after 1993. There's songs with minimal or no rasp on Chinese but then there's some with a good amount like the title track, Better, Shackler's Revenge, and the intro to Street of Dreams. It was clear he still easily had the rasp but he used it more selectively.

It is conscious and to fit what we would / is doing and will do live on tours. With a full on rasp he'd never be able to perform through a 3 hour-set every night as he does for the past 7 years.

Is he able to rasp like 1992/1993 full on during an entire concert? Sure, look what he did during 10 dates with ACDC, but those were sparsed and only one hour and 1/2 long.

I know the vocals for the next songs are recorded. The question wasn't about that, it was asking if he could rasp on a new song and the answer is yes, proven also by Gold coast when he out of nowhere slipped into rasp mode for Civil war.

Of course he can rasp on any given song. Didn't you hear what he did at the AC/DC concerts?

He just chooses not to rasp so he can perform every night for 3 hours and 7 years.

You should know that by now.

You guys, I’m starting to get a little concerned here, because there are only four Fridays left before the end of 2023.

Be concerned when we reach this same time of the year in 2061, then we'll have only two months before the ginger turns 100.

I bet my ass that then the third generation of TEAM BRAZIL will release the vault as they did with Prince, only for us to find out that there was only one song left there, tha McDaddy one.

If a new album somehow happens does it feature much rasp from Axl or will it be mostly clean sounding vocals? Pulling off some limited rasp even in a studio setting seemed possible around 2016-17 but it feels like we'd get vocals that are just a polished version of what he currently does live.

On Chi Dem there's minimal to no rasp, and I bet most people didn't even noticed.

    35 minutes ago, Tom2112 said:

Nah he'd layer a bunch and do multiple takes in order to get the rasp... if that was the sound he wanted. Rock the rock is a good example of how he might go about producing that sound

The 99 vocals are already recorded.

    yooooo

what if James Cameron and Guns n' Roses are magically linked through the thought of pure delusion. a hidden law of the universe?

i think we might need to consider the James Cameron factor.

    Look at his filmography.

    Year     Title
    1982     Piranha II: The Spawning
    1984     The Terminator
    1986     Aliens
    1989     The Abyss
    1991     Terminator 2: Judgment Day
    1994     True Lies
    1997     Titanic
    2009     Avatar
2022    Avatar: The Way of Water

And look at the release years of Guns N' Roses.

    Appetite for Destruction - 1987
    G N' R Lies - 1988
    Use Your Illusions - 1991
    "The Spaghetti Incident?" - 1993
    Chinese Democracy -  2008

Notice anything? A Guns N' Roses release is always within one year away from a James Cameron release.

    Appetite for Destruction 1987 / Aliens 1986
    G N' R Lies 1988 / The Abyss 1989
Use Your Illusions 1991 / Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1991
"The Spaghetti Incident?" 1993 / True Lies 1994
    Chinese Democracy  2008 / Avatar 2009

James Cameron is finally releasing Avatar 2 this year, 2022. Maybe through the hidden James Cameron factor, the laws of the universe will allow Guns N Roses to release a new album in 2023! :headbang:

But notice that not every Cameron film has a GnR release nearby, only some of them do. Apparently Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 have been filmed back to back. The more James Cameron films there are, according to the James Cameron factor, the more release window opportunities there are for GnR! :P There's a chance the new album could correspond with Avatar 3, instead of Avatar 2.

    WHAT?????

I'm sorry, but you went too far there!

Give me that acid drop! Sounds good!

In my opinion, they definitely improved Absurd and made Hard Skool worse. But it doesn't matter to me at all, I still have the version from the Village leaks so it is all good.

I kindda feel the opposite, I was used to Silkworms with the lyrics and all.

And I think the guitars are missing something or some notes in HS (maybe is the mix).

    I don't know.

This. The whole point of releasing those two turds for singles was that it was a sign of things to come. To show that it was possible for them to release new music, but that it would just be in chunks so they could release some of it faster. It's an optimistic approach if you actually follow through with it.

I could understand it if they had actually re-recorded these shit songs instead. At least to give them a more organic feel. But pasting parts and compressing everything together means we should've gotten CD2 and CD3 by now, if we're going to go by these shitty standards.

The worst part is that the demo versions of both songs (silkworms with fast drums and the "what can I do with a bitch like you") were very good, the hardskool intro, the guitar mix, it was crazy good.

How on earth they've managed to butcher two songs, and Axl being the crazy perfectionist that he is allowing that or wanting that to be released.

    1 minute ago, SoulMonster said:

In my opinion, I can look forward to more reworked CD songs. And that is pretty good.

But expect them to butcher and mess up songs that were "great" as they did with Absurd and Hardskool.

yeah doesnt help the gnr situation i totally agree but i wish it did... idk if i can swallow the whole axl being axl for very much longer either... i mean these guys probably arent as competitive as they once were but surely they dont enjoy being outdone this bad ?

Oh they do! They were outdone long ago my friend! And they don't care!

Gotta say, the Vegas show almost makes the Tokyo 92 show pointless for me. They have virtually the same setlist except for swapping Pretty Tied Up and Yesterdays, but Vegas had a much better sounding Axl voice and some better performances

And a more awake crowd! But I think it goes for the tradition for band to release japan stuff.
