I may be in the minority but I always like Slash's extended talkbox solo in that tune, ever since I first heard it on Live Era

I would pick Steven because personally when he performed at Dodger Stadium in 2016 if you closed your eyes it sounded JUST like the old days, I feel the different in drumming would make more of a sonic difference than rhythm guitar that is barely audible next to Slash anyways

I do find it amusing Tommy still seems totally non-impressed with Buckethead personally to say the least lol

I am just wondering past like 2001 how many *final* usable master vocal takes were recorded and how much of CD2 was reliant on those vocals done years ago

It really makes the Angel Down cameo Axl did a crazy thing, the dude potentially barely recorded new vocals after the early 2000s yet randomly did 3 amazing sounding vocal takes just spur of the moment for Sebastion Bach's album

It wouldn't be a GNR forum if GNR fans didn't purposefully call unidentified clips other songs with such certainty I think that clip has been called nearly every unreleased Village sessions demo at this point, as has The General lol

Slash and Duff are currently in the band and Pretty Tied Up and Bad Obsession are in the setlist We are only some hot pants, a 20 minute drum solo, and a Tracy and Roberta away from 1992

One thing I just realized, besides Anything Goes most of the different songs brought in highlight Axl's lower range - perhaps the whole vocal debacle during the last leg meant he wanted some songs that he could sing lower to give him some vocal breaks for the songs with his high range? Bad Obsession, Pretty Tied Up, Down on the Farm, etc.

Just dropped in to check in on the set, wow way more changes than I thought! Its been 7 years so way overdue, but I am happy to see so many differences already in the first half I cannot wait to hear a vid of PTU

I am all for critiquing GNR's lack of productivity but I am not sure if I agree with this. To me, if someone buys a ticket to a show because of some vague comment about new music that hasn't actually come to fruition yet in hopes that said new music will be played at their specific show - unless the tour is advertised as being for promoting a new album specifically, that seems more like gambling with low odds and being angry that your gamble didn't work out in your favor, rather than being short changed

Fiona Apple actually pushed the release date for her last album up to much earlier because she decided that giving people music to enjoy was meaningful to her during the height of the lockdowns. COVID has not stopped those who truly, and honestly do want to put out music and even if it did it sure wouldn't still be the case in 2023 when everyone else but GNR has figured out how to do it

I definitely still hear the original singer within the blend, the tech has a bit of ways to go before both that as well as the uncanny valley vibes sort of go away It is one of those ideas where, it is neat for a few seconds but other than that I end up more scared for future singers trying to make a living than I am impressed by the technology lol

What exactly does "same level" mean though, if I may ask? If part of your definition of it is worthiness/greatness based on their cultural impact, it doesn't matter how artistic or great a rock album made post-2000 is, rock music is not the most influential cultural style currently and so trying to find an album that can do the same exact big things as older albums from an older business model, older time, and older trends is a pointless game IMHO There are tons of great albums being made nowadays in my opinion. For me I don't look for anything to measure against older music, I just enjoy the music that speaks to me and I like listening to. And in that respect there is so much great rock music out there being made still that I enjoy alongside Zeppelin and all the classics

I just still after all this time don't get why Axl is not more proactive in putting music out there. Like clearly after the whole Chinese debacle, with this reunion being filled with people (Slash and Duff) who are absolute workhorses outside of GNR, it is clear to me what the common demoninator would be as to the lack of action I doubt a record label would infinitely delay the first comeback album of one of the biggest rock bands' reunions. So for Axl is it perfectionism? Fear of the material not being recieved well? Just not wanting the stress anymore and just wanting to travel the world and tour?

Thanks for posting that, Adler does sound great still like it is crazy how he can invoke the same vibe with that drum groove that really makes it feel Appetite-esque. I don't know what I find more of a shame, that he hasn't done more with GNR since the reunion or that his projects usually just are GNR cover bands and he never found the right band of creatives post-GNR

Josh is a great drummer and I think he will be a great fit in keeping Foo Fighters as a tight sounding unit for sure - the dude is such a chameleon when it comes to fitting in various projects The Foo Fighters are such a mixed thing for me - when a song clicks with me I think they are fantastic (All My Life, Monkey Wrench, Walk, etc.) but a lot of it sounds kind of samey to me when I put on a full album. Their last album was pretty decent though

I do think there is some truth to that, especially like I remember even Axl himself during the online forum chats of 2008 was asked how much material was in the vault and I believe he said something along the lines of "not as much as Sebastion Bach thinks there is" or something such as that (if anyone remembers or has the exact quote let me know!) I was not even in total disagreement with Pele either, the dude just going at it in a very aggressively insistent manner lol

Crazy to think that if DJ is to be believed, there is an alternate reality where after Slash's solo set, DJ later on would come on stage for his solo spot and play Ballad of Death every night

From what I have seen, Dodger Stadium 2016 was hard to beat - great vocal display by Axl, was my first time seing them with Slash, and Steven Adler came onstage for a couple numbers and killed it From recordings from the past, Felt Forum 1988 has long since been my favorite from the classic era

The problem will be when the AI tech gets to really mimic the human condition. You would tell it to write a GNR song and it will spend 12 years adding and removing layers before actually producing anything

Marc Maron I think would be a good pick. He is way less batshit crazy than Joe especially regarding the last few years of the world lol and I think would vibe with Axl way more on a musical level since he actually has some musical knowledge (his interview with Slash was great because they were nerding out on guitar stuff so much for example)

Only if it is either paired with one of these, ideally all: 1. After new material comes out / major setlist shakeups 2. Izzy and Steven joining GNR for a limited run residency at the Sphere 3. Axl returning to 2016 forum Like, I don't know if I would be interested in a Sphere residency with only like revamped visuals and stage design for the Sphere, I would want something substantial from the band that really would set the shows apart musically from the past 7 years

Maybe they removed the watermark because even they in reteospect don't want to seem directly associated with the mix of this video lol
