  1. I say this with what Ringo calls "peace and love" - it is Slash for God sakes, there is no way they would release a new single in 2023, with Slash in the band for 7 years, with a song where the lead is from a dude who has been out of the band for 19 years The outro solo on TG is nothing really crucial to the melody, unlike the main solos to November Rain for example, its just Slash doing his thing and going crazy. And the studio version was probably him just laying down various takes of him going crazy on the solo and them picking the coolest sounding take anyway - it wasn't a solo Slash wrote down on paper and thought out ahead of time
  2. Hell yeah dude! I am out of likes but I am glad you got to hear The General's live debut and had a great time overall And before you leave here, if you can, get your butt to Canter's and get a pastrami reuben! Both for the GNR connection and because their reuben is amazing I am kicking myself for not asking for the day off work and not getting cheap nosebleeds lol I blew my immediate concert budget on the San Diego show's travel expenses, Sting at the Hollywood Bowl a few weeks ago, and then Tool tickets for next year lmao
  3. This can be totally inaccurate, but considering The Genreal was on the setlist when this leg started, I think at the very least they were planning on debuting it around the time of its official release date. Maybe the leaks inspired them to play it now to give the fans something now the cat's out of the bag, but considering by December they would be done touring until at least late next year if that, I think the original plan was to play The General before this leg's end. RIchard Fortus' comments about his sitar pedal being on his pedalboard both for PTU and for something we didn't know at the time to me confirms it at least was in the works for this leg at some point.
  4. It sounded decent on the videos here, sure it isn't like how he would have done it in 2010 but it still sounds pretty good to me overall
  5. Honestly 2023 for me is the best time to be a GNR fan since 2016, and before that like 2008-2010 when CD came out and the live shows were new and fresh Not only do we get Perhaps, The General, etc. we also are getting Pretty Tied Up, Bad Obsession, Anything Goes, and whatnot. Its just a way better feeling than even last year when it felt fairly stagnant beyond Hard School and Absurd being there
  6. Out of reactions for the day, but this is both a unique theory and very realistic too! The fact that both are registered together indicates they are connected thematically and as experiences. This theory would explain both the time contraints of the single release as well as the delay for the Perhaps vinyl in general
  7. Izzy's first GNR leak was in the gallery of an airplaine in public, right? Lol
  8. Honestly that sounds fun as hell, I would shell out extra bucks to get the Baz neighbor seat - both for him and the weed lol
  9. Oh man if Sebastion Bach was at this show he would probably be like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" right now
  10. Sure, I went to San Diego because at that point they hadn't announed LA dates, I had to work late tonight so I skipped tonight's show and THAT is when they play The General
  11. Tonight with The General only being played live does play into my theory of The General being on the Perhaps single and Monsters, part 2 of the saga being on like an Atlas single or something
  12. Guys omg I can't believe Buckethead went onstage to play HIS parts from The General leak!!!
  13. Its such a cool place to see shows! Saw Sting there a few weeks ago, its a really vibey place. Unfortunately the beauty of the venue is contrasted by the most chaotic parking lot second to only Dodger Stadium in its ability to raise blood pressure
  14. Sure the time I don't go to a GNR show near me that is the one they play Locomotive Glad they are still playing it to this day, when they first dusted it off I was afraid it was going to be a one-off Glad they still do Coma too, in San Diego last month that was an absolute beast live even more heavy than what I recall from 2016 live
  15. My interpretation is that "The General" could be a reference to the father in the narrative, like perhaps he ran the household more like a military general instead of like a father, hence the abusive nature of it all It would be interesting to hear how Axl went about writing the song, he very well could have seen the placeholder title and got the entire idea for the song's theme on that - in which case the song's title still fitting (or at least is no longer about Brain eating a popular chicken dish )
  16. I wonder if you turned off the visuals of the live streams tonight if certain members would claim it is Buckheadhead during Slash's solo spot lol
  17. Yeah I think if it was happening we would have had soundcheck rumblings like Perhaps and HS by now. I am guessing The General/Monsters will be not played this year since it is pushed back to December for its release
  18. On the leak that we got a few days ago? To my ears that is 100% Slash, his wah and his particular tone when in shred mode in the end there
  19. Dude you couldn't even make out that Slash is on these leaked recordings, but now the barely-audible cell phone leak is clear enough for you to consider the guitar parts better
  20. I like it, I like the heavy chorus parts and the bridge section that is actually kind of reminiscent to me of like Massive Attack/90s trip-hop. I don't know if I would consider it like the best GNR singular song ever or anything, but its creepy and cool and goes really well paired with Monsters
  21. Why will we only get Monsters when speficially The General is listed on the vinyl? Lol what makes you that positive?
  22. So Monsters is The General and not Soul Monster, even though Monsters has the words "soul" and "monster" in the lyrics?
