All of this detective information is enough for me to be convinced they are the same. Let alone that the titles "Soul Monster" and "Monsters" are quite literally almost the same...

Not an early demo cause it's Slash playing on them but we don't know if this is what we'll be getting. Most probably a better quality mix version.
Follow up…is the best source to listen to on YouTube?
-
Do we know yet if these are what we’ll be getting in December or an early demo?
-
Is YouTube the source of these leaks? IMEI is there a “better” version out there?

Lol yeah he was all “fuck those guys” when he recorded most these vocals they now play under. I don’t think anyone could predict this bands history
I got into the band around 2006 and I never imagined Slash would be playing again with Axl. We all know the quote… “not in this lifetime”

Just imagine if you could go back to 1999 or whenever the original demo was recorded and put together and tell Axl “I come from the future, and I’m here to tell you that you’ll release this song in 2023 with Slash and Duff on it.”
It’s just crazy to think what roller coaster the band has been through over the years.

What’s Perhaps (2003)?
Guessing that's a typo and he meant 2023.
Also if anyone is wondering what the Curly Shuffle bit is, it's from this video (start at around 35:55):

Had to turn it off in the first minute. I think I had a seizure.

If they’re fake, can’t the links just be posted here?

If you listen really really closely in the “extras” track for Shackler’s from the RB multis, you can make out a buried guitar solo in the mix. I think that’s the bucket one we should have gotten...

nono, only 2. 2013 (electric with BBF guitar and Axl bg vocals) and 2019 (acoustic with Tommy only).
you might find some "2013 version without BBF guitar" but that one is fake, made by removing the BBF guitar channel and mirroring the other channel - creating a fake stereo song (technically dual mono track). but that one is "fanmade" (and I remember that back in 2018 that one really "leaked", but was proven to be a fake, created the way I described).
Ahh!! Okay that makes sense. I do remember that now. I discarded it due to the fact that it was just a simple Audacity edit

No worries. hard to keep track of everything these days!
The one from last year is exactly the same as the 2013 one except just a few lead guitar licks are missing. You’re not missing much.
Hmm, interesting. First I heard of that version. I do have the 2013 version that was "remastered" or mixed so that the guitar track wasn't isolated. But I don't consider that an actual leak, just a remaster/remix.

ugh, my bad. of course that older GD leaked in 2013, NOT in 2018.
So...3 versions then? I've only heard 2 (one from 2013 and then one from a few days ago).

what do you mean by "real"?
I know of 2 versions of Going Down (one from last year, one from a few days ago). It sounds like the one mentioned in this thread is a third version?
-
Was it determined that this one was real?

yes, I can, but it's a hard job. I have some notes and my guesses, based on ID3 tags left in the leaked files - but I got informed that those might be wrong, so... the text below is just my guess and not really neccessarily close to truth
anyway, sheet updated again and reworked at many places, reorganized for even better chronological flow, and the "1998-2001 leaks" have been temporarily placed right below the Village discs tracklists, until we have confirmed which of the tracks they match.
====
Prostitute v2 says Track 5 which likely matches Track 5 at Rough Mixes 1
Catcher says Track 2 on the same disc as IRS, which is completely wrong. it probably is in fact Track 7 from Rough Mixes 1
Silkworms only exists as Track 10 at Rough Mixes 1
IRS says Track 6, which might be the Track 6 from Rough Mixes 3
Jackie Chan/HS must be Track 7 from Rough Mixes 3Going Down is probably Tommy Demo #2 from the Robin/Tommy demo disc, at least according to 3$P
The Blues is Track 9, which might be Track 9 from New Brain Drums CD, labeled 9. "The Blues"-Old Josh Drums, or less likely Track 9 from Rough Mixes 1
Chinese Josh is I think Track 7 from New Brain Drums CD, labeled as 7. "Chinese Democracy"-Old Josh Drums
Rhiad says Track 11 which might again be 11. "Rhiad"-Old Josh Drums from New Brain Drums CDProstitute v3 says Track 3, which might be 3. "Prostitute" from New Brain Drum Remixes with Axl CD
TWAT says Track 1 so it might be either Track 1 from the TWAT disc 1 (Rough Mixes of New Brain Drums), or Track 1 from the TWAT disc 2 (Brain Drum Remix With Snare Sample From Silkworms), less likely Track 2 from Rough Mixes 1
Chinese Stew might be Track 4 at Chinese Democracy disc, labeled 4. Guitars up 2.5 dB, Drums at Regular Level

The old TWAT leak from DJ Razz is hard to guess - common sense says it should be Track 2 from Rough Mixes 1, but the track length doesn't match.
Same with old Catcher leak from 2006 - we only know of one version that is on the discs, but the old leak sounds like even older version or alternate take - it's missing some additional guitar for example. It's impossible to tell which of the two Catchers come from the Village discs, until the discs leak.
IRS from DJ Razz has been made redundant because it was replaced by the exact same IRS now but with massively better quality.
Old "Checkmate" leak has first been made redundant by the original Hardschool leak, and now those two were made redundant by the more recent Hardschool ("Jackie Chan") which has slightly better quality. The 3 "2001 leaks" reportedly also come from late 2000 or so, and TWAT has been made redundant by the last wave of leaks, because they are the exact identical track but in a little better quality.
The 3 "BBF guitar demos" also reportedly come from late 2000, but it's impossible to match them to any of the known tracks in this lot
This is fantastic - thank you for putting this together and being so detailed. Helps me remember what has happened, especially in the 2000s.
-
@zombux do you think you could match up the leaks from last week with the sessions CDs you added? I guess we still don't know much about them...

Can someone post a list of what exactly has leaked since yesterday? I realize Hard School leaked over the weekend, and then there was a ~1 min clip of snippets from various songs, but it sounds like a bunch more came out yesterday??

Ok, I compared them now, one to one. Bass sounds different in this 6.6mb version and when all instruments and vocals are playing sound is a lot less trashy and messy.
However, there are some differences in the frequencies. For most part they look very simmiliar but in a few moments a little bit different. Looks like the one in 5,5mb version has less high frequencies. Weird.I compared them as well, the waveforms look identical (once you match them up, since one is shorter than the other). At first I thought they sounded different, but the more I analyzed them and listened, I think it was just placebo. I think they are identical.
EDIT: Also, it's higher in file size because it has an album art embedded in in the id3v2 tag.

Pretty sure he's talking about the snippet that was posted with Atlas/the other '99 demos.
Nevermind, to my ears, it is a bit higher quality. The drums are a bit more balanced and it doesn't clip as much.

Different leak, the hard school of August 24th is more compressed
Are we talking about a "new" version that has some weird-ass album artwork, that is also 192kbps?

there's also a better quality HS.
I don't think it's actually any better quality than what we got over the weekend.

Can't believe I finally heard this after 13 years. Never thought I'd see the day. Sure it's rough and not final, but I'll take it!

Wow...this remake/remix is phenomenal. Dare I say, better than the original??
Didn't love that Bring It Back Home mashup. Would love to hear the Voodoo & Evader take on that one myself.
