  1. Live Like a Suicide original pressing

Appetite For Destruction, original banned cover and a couple of copies of the 2018 remaster

    Lies, uncensored artwork

UYI I and UYI II, both original and remastered

Spaghetti Incident, standard pressing and orange variant

    Live Era original pressing

Chinese, couple of EU pressings, couple of US pressings

A few variants of the GH release

All the records and singles included in the AFD boxset. All the records included in the UYI boxset.

I've got a fair few 12" singles and the majority of the original 7" singles, but not all.

Is The General going to be released in Hi-Rez formats? Not sure if this was mentioned already.

I genuinely do not understand the love Better gets. I don't know how anyone gets past those Mickey vocals.

Better? Mickey? on the studio version?!

I'm sure a 24bit version will appear on the likes of Qobuz upon release, hopefully!

has anyone actually asked him or found out exactly why he left? from what I remember the first we knew he was out was when they announced the 09 tour and that Dj ashba was the new guitarist for it in place of robin. it just shows that nugnr were never really a band. you dont put band members on contracts. you're in the band or you aint. for even finck to be a hired hand when he wrote most of the songs in the entire era and to be on the 01/02 tour and 06/07. Like he's a footballer just running down his contract to join a different club. it's ridiculous

He was pictured in the studio with NIN, if I recall correctly, before the release of Chinese and their socials announcing his return. Axl was asked about his status in the chats that December and I think was still under the impression he’d be involved with Guns

I must admit I never ever really got into the Rolling Stones. Aren’t there like 40 variants of the new album? Mental.

Now and Then has terrible artwork. Surely the Beatles could have done better than that?!

    Recently picked up:

    - Porcupine Tree - new live album on preorder

Yeah, the artwork for Now and Then was disappointing, not really befitting of the last single that wraps up their catalogue.

The Stones are notoriously greedy cunts, so it was to be expected that there would be unlimited amounts of variants for their die hard following to pick up from! That said, promotion for the album has been what it should be for an album from a big act and they're showing how it's done - their logo even made it onto Barcelona's football strip!

  5. The Paul Smith alternate artwork of Hackney Diamonds is going for £120+ on Discogs. Absolutely mental - it's my favoured artwork, but think I'll keep mine sealed going by how much it's jumped up since I was in Saudi. I picked up the Faces reissue of their catalogue from 2015. Out of print unfortunately but got it for £125 which is a steal. What a band. Rod divides opinion but vocally, he was up with the best in the 70's, especially the majority of his work with both Faces and solo. Have yet to get through them, but will hopefully spin one this evening. Ron Wood - what a man.

  6. I was completely oblivious to the Satan laughing crossover from War Pigs - suppose that is further fuel to the fire if anyone is still on the fence about Monsters not being the same song as Soul Monster/Leave Me Alone etc etc.

I've not listened to The General all that much, maybe a handful of times, but Monsters has been played regularly whenever I've been on the go. I think it's one of the best songs in the GNR catalogue and the bass line is top drawer - I'd have loved to have heard Tommy's efforts to see how they compare, as you can bet it'd have been every bit as good, but even still, delighted that a song of this standard is going to be gracing us officially at some point.

  7. To think it's practically half a record already officially released, it's pretty mental all things considered. I've not even attempted playing what we have back to back yet, I imagine it would be quite sonically jarring given the difference in mixing, but I do hope we get a cohesive package at some point soon, but I imagine it's most likely going to be continuing to drip feed these songs over the course of a few years and then the band looking at starting from scratch for a new album, sadly - I'll happily take whatever we're given though!

Oklahoma/Berlin and Zodiac will hopefully be enjoyed in the not too distant future. The Village Leaks are full of intriguing instrumentals that would have made a great follow up to Chinese had they been worked on - which is possible given the timeline of the Village sessions is from 2000/01.

  8. Was the vinyl exclusive comment not only from Italy's Universal store? This may have previously been mentioned on this thread, but it seemed there were many that jumped on this and took it as gospel. It's bad enough being drip fed these songs over a number of years, but it would have been disappointing had the music Axl labored over for decades were relegated to hidden/limited B sides that wouldn't get the widespread attention his efforts deserved.

I've been listening to that one a lot too. I'd love a version with Duff singing, or with Axl recording the vocals in his baritone voice and keeping the old harmonies. Or just give it back to Tommy so he can release it, I just need a final version somewhere.

I'd pass on Duff putting his stamp on it, but it's the sort of tune that would have showcased Axl's range perfectly. Tommy has commented to fans about trying to get the songs back during some of his shows, but we've not heard any more on that topic. Songwriting databases have him listed correctly as the sole writer of both Going Down and Ten Percenter and many speculate that this means he has the rights back - but his comments about attempting to get them back came after these database credits appeared if I recall correctly. It still lists GNR as the performer too. I guess time will tell!

  10. We're more than 10 years since hearing Going Down for the first time. I love the version that appeared among the Village Discs, but it didn't top the experience of listening to the fleshed out version for the very first time. Axl's backing vox have always been a favourite of mine. It's the Village version that mostly gets played in this house, but I threw on the original leak earlier and it's still a great listen. Songs of such quality shouldn't be stored away for decades.
