  1. This happens to be Mrs. Money's favorite GN'R song.  I don't mind it but wish it didn't have the Casio SK-5 sampling keyboard chorus sounds at the lead-in to the first verse or the synth effects at the end.  Otherwise, I think it adds a nice variation to the album.  If you're listening to TSI in order though, I think it would sound better somewhere in the middle of the album.

  2. Hi everyone.  It's been awhile.  Who's fired up about the South America tour?  I'm trying to figure out how to get down there for a show or two.

I know for a fact that the tour routing initially looked different and the Texas dates were supposed to happen at the beginning of the tour.  I saw texas shows on the schedule immediately after Mexico City.  I think there was a couple weeks in between.  There were a few other changes that had to happen along the way.  ACDC was not in play in February/ early March when they had tentative holds on football stadiums around the country.  They quickly made the changes to accommodate this opportunity for Axl.  I think we'll all agree here that ACDC ended up becoming the ultimate tour promotion for Guns N' Roses.  Axl delivered and received a lot of great press where the press legitimized him as one of the all-time great singers who can still perform at a high level.  This will definitely help ticket sales as they tour across the globe and possibly next Fall when they bring the tour back to the States barring no major incident.

I kind of find it hard to believe that Angus would plot a firing of Brian with so few shows left.

  3. keep in mind that this tour has a payroll of nearly $300,000 per month, $550,000 in hotel expenses, $110,000 in per diem, and so forth. This doesn't count truck and bus rental, airfare, fuel costs, band member salaries, and more. It is quite possible that it would take 25% of the income to cover all of this. If all of this income is dispersed through a management company controlled by Axl, a 50% cut seems plausible.

What song, FP money? If that's your point then you're absolutely right, just don't forget to add to it the fact that of all the people in the world to play on drums for the song, izzy got Matt Sorum. Matt Sorum. Who knew those two were even speaking for years..?!?!

Matt thought that he would be a part of it and is upset with Slash and Duff for not lobbying to get him in.

So...Axl's gonna sing "Money Talks" with AC/DC?

I wish.  I love that song.

Izzy matters to hardcore fans. Not to the 40k people showing up night after night. This is a fan forum debate. Nobody outside of here has a personal or emotional stake in it other than the band members. And I seriously doubt  Slash and Duff want to compensate Izzy.

To some extent, I agree with you, but... GNR are one of the rare bands where you knew all of the players.  Most fans during that time couldn't tell you who the guitarist in White Lion was but they could name all 5 guys in GNR.  Especially many of the people who can actually afford the high ticket prices - they were invested in this band at some point in their younger years and could probably tell you the name of every band member.  It is being marketed as a reunion tour so many of these people are hoping to see Izzy.

  6. I have an honest question for you real musicians out there.

What kind of texture are Mr Reed and Melissa laying down in the background for some of these songs that don't require keyboards?  What are they adding to Outtagetme me, for example? I've seen several rock bands use keyboard players on tour  for a few songs and the keyboardists don't stay on stage the whole time pretending to play like it seems that these two do.

    I don't quite understand  it

Why only an Arena if they come to Miami?  They sold out in Orlando in a stadium and Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Metro is at least as big as Orlando/Tampa.  Miami has a ton of South American immigrants so I would think that would add demand also based on the crowds they draw in South America.  Also, Joe Robbie Stadium (now renovated and yet to be renamed again) was the first stadium in North America that GNR ever headlined in (as far as I can tell).  I would imagine that had the stadium not been under construction, it would have been a date this summer.

Because they would tour arenas with arena stages and not the one off stadium stage. They would have played Miami in the first place had the stadium not been closed for renovations.

Thank you for the Amy scoop!

Now that you're here: how old is Amy and is Bailey her stepfather as well?

    :devilshades:

I don't know the specifics on their family.  I think I heard somewhere that the stepfather adopted Axl and his sister and I'm not sure about his brother.  The only thing I really know is that Slash said in his book that the elaborate themed after show parties they planned on the UYI tour were stupid and nobody attended them.

  9. Hard to say what will happen after this tour finishes next summer.  As of now, it seems that we'll get the big shows in SA this fall, Australia/Asia in January - March, Europe/ UK in the Summer.

If they come back to North America with this tour, we're probably going to get cities like this in the fall.

    ARENAS:

    Canada:

    Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver

    US:

Portland, Sacramento, Los Angeles (Staples Center this time), Salt Lake City, Denver, San Antonio or Austin, St. Louis (big media deal will be made of this), Miami, Charlotte, Birmingham, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Louisville

What do you think was the best show you've seen this tour?

Nashville, by far.  I thought Axl's voice was best - the crowd energy was great.

I loved the excitement in Mexico City and the Mexican fans were very cool.  The ones around me kept asking me if I was going to vote for Mr. Trump.  In that environment, I think I may have gotten trampled if I told them that "we were going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it", so I kind of ignored those questions.  Seriously, I had a blast in the CDMX.  I felt that the band still seemed a little off though and Axl's voice wasn't nearly as good as Nashville.

Most fun - Vegas, but that's because the strip felt like a big GNR convention.

    Worst - Kansas City

  11. The Seeker must go.

It really kills the encore along with the ever so sloppy Paradise City.  I loved the show last night but that ending is rough.  I hope for the people of South America that they consider re-working this part of the show.

Another thing, watching KOHD from home can be a bit of a snoozer.  Last night, I actually enjoyed it for the first time in awhile in a live setting.

I'll be in Orlando tomorrow and New Orleans on Sunday if any of you want to meet up.  New Orleans may be my last show for awhile but I'm pleased to say that I attended more GNR concerts than Steven Adler this year so far.
