Axl has his own Website now
SoulMonster replied to kingcanyon's topic in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
The research is already done. There are still many, many thing that we don't know about the band or about Axl, but we shouldn't go around being ignorant about the stuff that is well documented. -

Well, if you read a bit more you would know more. Here's Axl himself talking about why he didn't do press and how it had to do with his belief that the press was out to get him and protect Slash: (35) 28. AUGUST 2008-FEBRUARY 2009: CHINESE DEMOCRACY IS RELEASED - Page 2 (a-4-d.com) And here's about Axl deliberately keeping out of the spotlight and that he did have an aversion to promoting himself: (35) 23. JANUARY 2001-NOVEMBER 2002: RICHARD REPLACES PAUL, TOURING STARTS (a-4-d.com) The latter point about Axl not having an interest in self-promotion or celebrity status is also exemplified with Sebastian Bach talking about how Axl would paid big money to not be part of celebrity shows on tv, in contrast to Bach. -

He has had no problems sharing personal things from his life previously. But after 1991 only under controlled situations. He stopped doing press not so much because he didn't want to share, but because he thought media was against him and wouldn't give him a fair chance. And he doesn't have a particular interest in growing his celebrity status, so he avoids press for promoting himself. An autobiography wouldn't really be opposed to any of this. -
No, he mentioned that at least as early as March 2009. You can check it out yourself here: (35) Chinese Democracy (a-4-d.com)

I never consider a band that is not mainly a solo effort to be a solo band. If it is collaborative effort where more than one person is heavily involved in the creative process, then I consider it a band effort and it is not a solo thingy. So Slash 2010 album was a solo effort (with brought in musicians), the Conspirators thing is a band effort. Chinese Democracy was a band effort, not one person doing 80% of the work. -

But it wasn't "all his material and ideas". Brain and Josh and Robin and Dizzy and Bucket, etc, came up with a lot of those ideas. Just compare Sorry from Village Leaks to the final version or Shackler's. They were the same songs before Axl had any input (as far as we know). If Axl had written then songs with input from session musicians, then yes, it would be a solo effort. But this was the case of band members all bringing in ideas for songs in a collaborative environment. And yes, Axl eventually had the final say, but that is also not that different from many other bands. -

You thinking about that Elvis Prestley song he made a cover of and that track about the devil that he did all on his own? Because that Chinese Democracy material was not solo songs but collaborative efforts. -

Because whoever got the job to make this first draft of the text content is not a hardcore fan and just google for content. -

I think the quotes are AI generated and whoever added text to the webpage found it and thought it was genuine. Again, the text on the webpage doesn't seem to be in it's final version. -

I didn't say that quote specifically is fake. But the overall feeling I get when reading the quotes is that they are fake. I actually believe that whoever set up the webpage simply searched for Axl Rose quotes and added one from the page. The text on the webpage looks half finished, just look at the bio page where only Appetite is mentioned. I am sure Axl would have said something about Chinese Democracy, too. -

The quotes sound very fake to me. -
Because people are interested even when they don't. You mentioned Bon Jovi and this reminded me of a quite from Jon Bon Jovi regarding Axl back in the early 2000s when Axl did nothing at all still was hugely popular: So we can complain however much we want to, whether his strategy is deliberate or not, he has managed to keep GN'R popular and interesting despite doing very little to please the fans. Maybe because he is inaccessible and mysterious.

Axl Sued For Sexual Assault
SoulMonster replied to downzy's topic in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
It came from Alan Niven, and although he dislikes Axl with a passion he probably wouldn't make up a negative quote from Slash about Axl (only used it for all it's worth). Alan Niven: I mean, there's a curly-head friend of mine who pointed out recently it takes eight of them to keep Axl happy and moving. But I would make the observation that he's just done two years of very substantial touring. So you have to tip your hat to Team Brazil for getting that done. Well done. Yeah, Slash apparently said Team Brazil needed 8 guys to keep Axl happy on tour, where's the rest of the team when shits needs to get done? -

Maybe that was more inconvenient to them than using both his hands to balance the bags and then Beta using one of her free hands to cover both their heads from the rain? You know, like what normal people would do. I consider myself a strong enough man and I often use both my hands when carrying more than one bag, actually, I almost always use both my hands for that. People complaining about Beta shielding Axl while he carried bags is probably one of the stupidest thing fans have taken issue with here for a long time. Or hey, to be a proper gentleman Axl should carry both the bags himself (of course, a lady shouldn't have to carry stuff, not even umbrellas), lifted his head backward so he looked straight up, opened his mouth wide, and then jammed the umbrella handle down his throat making him into the equivalent of a human parasol. That way Beta wouldn't have to do anything at all. Of course, he would have to use his feet to find his path back home, he couldn't see anything when looking straight up, searching for the pathway and avoiding the trees and grass, because he couldn't dare ask Beta to help him with directions. She is there just for companionship. -

Sure, but that would mean she would have to carry the bags. Remember, Axl got his hands full carrying stuff?
