Slash seems to really like and respect Gary Clark Jr as a player. maybe there will be more collaborations in the future, I can see that happening.

why would Frank lie about it though? Slash seems to be having a blast with the conspirators on this tour and the poster you're replying to is credible with some connections to the band.

is there actually posturing when it comes to Axl? idk. he seems to wear what he thinks is cool and appropriate for the occasion if it's on the stage, the look changes sometimes and off the stage he has a more casual look. it doesn't seem contrived to me, but what do I know.

the close to climaxing sex noises are a turn off for you iirc heh. I like the song too, the vocals I don't have an issue with, even if they're not exactly what you'd call traditionally good, especially from Duff, but I wouldn't change it personally. my favorite part of the song is Slash's leads with that tone

I thought it was a great pop track, the whole album really. the cover album was weak imho though.

noticed how Slsh basically did the same thing Santana did: made 1 album with guest singers of original material in 1999 (Supernatural) and another album with guest singers that was all covers (2010's Guitar Heaven) (one difference is there's an original instrumental on Slash's Orgie Of The Damned) Edit: santana's second guest singers album was rock covers while slash's is blues covers.

how about nothing we can do? that is the reality of the situation imo. don't worry about my real life, we are discussing a rock n' roll band. it is healthy to make the distinction. you can vote with your wallet, but that won't affect much in regards to new music and most ticket buying fans are casuals that want to hear the hits and go for nostalgia anyway.

idk it seems you still expect him to deliver like people who are not Axl release music. his last album was released 15 years ago, more than enough timet to adjust to the "new" reality that Gn'R is never going to operate like other bands. everything we get from here on out is a bonus imho. no matter what Axl still got unreleased or the potential of the current line up and will likely take years for anything more than a few tunes released to happen. you can whine about it and repeat yourself as much as you want, it still won't change a thing or you can be pleasently surprised if/when Gn'R releases more material. just my take on it.

if a person has been acting a certain way for 30 years, would you bet on them to dramatically change their ways or accept that this is probably, for whatever reason, how they choose to be/are? I don't think Axl is ever going to be prolific so what's the sensible thing to do here if not to accept it for what it is and lower your expectations?

some posters seems to think differently so in case it wasn't obvious to everyone, just shared my opinion on it. you'd think Axl is downright delusional going by some of the posts in this thread and I think he's not detached from reality as some here may like to think he is.

"this is a new song I wrote 20 years ago" introducing Absurd that one time. pretty sure Axl knows.

yeah I think both these performances are cool and Slash sounds great on both. it is what it is. he's not always on like he used to be imho, but even if you agree with that, what is Slash supposed to do? put his guitar down cause he's not as brilliant as he used to be or practice being more accurate when that's not what he wants to do? it's cool to disect music if that's what you want to do, but you can't change how a player sounds like. you always have a choice as a listener to accept it for what it is or just listen to Slash in the 80's/90's if his current playing bothers you so much.

I guess you meant theory with the harmonic minor. Slash knows basic theory and a bunch of scales. his technique improved compared to when he was younger. the way he plays now doesn't have much to do with what he knows imo, it's just less inspired and maybe has something to do with the fact that he's sober now like he talked about. it's an easy solution to play faster and more notes when you don't have a clear idea on how to continue your musical direction when you're soloing, which sometimes Slash does now. he doesn't lose direction all the time. I don't disagree that nowdays it's not as good as it was, he didn't stay at the level he was at his peak imo. I think his aim is to still be a melodic player but it doesn't always happen and he said that nowdays sometimes he rushes live from excitement because he's not drinking anymore. could be true or he just doesn't feel it as much anymore most of the time like he used to for whatever reason.

for what it's worth, I think it's a cool pic and the dude didn't ruin it imo.
