If I'm not mistaken, Axl (and Caram) mixed his vocals on Rock the Rock, too. It looks like Axl wants to mix his vocals on whatever he sings on himself (or have "his guy" do it). I wouldn't be surprised if the Michael Schenker/UFO (?) song he recorded vocals on is delayed for the same reason.

    Axl is gonna Axl.

I'd love to hear this track. Great song, epic line up. I suspect it might be a short while at least, not only because of Axl, but we've just had Mark Knofler release a single with a tonne of guest artists (inc Slash) for TCT - maybe it'll be in the next month or two? It's been laid down since 2017, so that's kinda in line with Axl's usual timeframe.

I picked something from each major era/album, but avoided the likes of Civil War, YCBM, Patience, Estranged & (maybe) Nightrain because I'd be surprised if even casual fans hadn't heard these.

Otherwise, it would be exactly those.

So weird....if they got him to do Appetite for probably the big box in 2018, then didn't like it and shelf'd it, why the fuck did they get him to do UYI years later too, to repeat the hoarding... also not to release....classic Guns memory lapse....*Oh Shit! We just wasted $$$....*Axl, remember we don't like that ATMOS shir*

Probably explains why they couldn't pay Kat...

I'm not the biggest fan of Atmos/360° mixes in general. I usually listened them once or twice and then end up listening the original stereo version instead. I like Atmos with movies but with music they seem bit gimmicky. More of an curiosity than the real deal.

Couldn't agree more. I haven't heard an Atmos mix that improves any song. They're kind of novelties to listen to, but I haven't found any that I prefer over OG or other alternative mixes.

Looked like a regular TS9. Saw a pic on IG.

Yeah, I'm sure I saw an Ibanez TS in there.

Don't @ me, but I really think he needs a boost like a Tube Screamer for his current low gain sound. If only he could get his old Illusions tone back...

Anyways, seems also like he'll be using that semi-hollow guitar that was posted a few months back. Good to know that Gibson will have more overpriced things to sell (and that I would 100% buy if I had the cash).

Updated the first post with this. Seems like the Magnatone guy was kinda right.

Yep, we'll have a Slash Gibson 335 next, and likely an Epiphone version too. Personally, in terms of semi-acoustics, I love the Epi Sheraton's with the mini humbuckers.

That was a pretty crazy time to be on the boards, i wasn't online at the time which was annoying though. I was on CD.com at that point so I would have been on that one if I had been on any, there's a lot of good info buried in those chats and a lot of info on unreleased stuff we got came from them. Thankfully people asked some pretty good questions.

    And then there was Madison...

Even if Sheila herself didn't use the word "rape", a lot of people recognized that was what she was describing even in 2016. Read the comments to the Daily Mail interview:

'He raped her then. Because that's what she's describing. No need to euphemize rape with "had sex with her."' (This comment has 332 upvotes, 31 downvotes.)

'Re: Axl Rose: Dear Daily Mail, Usually they call that scenario "rape", not "had sex".' (180 upvotes, 14 downvotes)

'I get tired of hearing about people who think saying "Sorry" after they have done something awful, makes it ok...' (286 upvotes, 30 downvotes)

'I'll never think of Axl Rose the same again.' (186 upvotes, 73 downvotes)

And so on. I think it's safe to say that the story did hurt his reputation and wasn't interpreted as a mere account of consensual sex by many/most readers. Also, Little Michelle has been accusing him of rape with that very word for years and he hasn't taken legal action against her either.

Shelia was likely told not to use the word rape, or the publishers edited it, unless she brought a legal case because it would otherwise be potentially libellous.

If there's evidence supporting the allegations, the most likely outcome is settlement out of court, so it's highly unlikely it goes to trial either way (if there's evidence debunking the allegations or there are legal holes in the lawsuit, the case will be dismissed). And It's a civil case - hence very different than a case where there would be criminal charges - so the unlikely scenario it went to trial wouldn't necessarily depend on the evidence (it would rather suggest that there wasn't enough evidence one way or the other).

    Gotcha. Thanks for that.

It seems like Axl is straight up saying the ONLY interaction he had with Sheila Kennedy is a fan picture. And the fact that no one else has come forward to say stuff like,"Oh yeah, I saw Sheila Kennedy and Axl having  sex in that hotel room," looks really good on Axl's part.  I remember someone saying like, "I saw Russell Brand having sex with a different Woman every day for a straight month." Which does not look good for Russell's recent/current sexual abuse allegations. Once again , if no one specifically says,"I saw Sheila and Axl having sex in that hotel room," it will look really good on Axl's part. 💡

It hasn't even got to court yet. If it gets there, it'll likely mean there is substantial evidence. I'd suggest that people won't be talking about it too openly as it could affect the trial (should there be one).

Yep...as fans we've only really had 5,6 tracks since '94 to get excited about as an official release that will be completely fresh to us...

We can't get excited like other "normal"  bands that announce a new single coming next week and then there's genuine excitement in the lead up to what it's gonna sound like, what direction have they gone in, etc...5 or 6 times in 30 years 😮 god darn.

Axl must think, for the product quantity released, he's been a damn lucky S.O.B to keep racking it in...

He lived very comfortably on royalties and then reunited with Slash when he knew he was on fumes - I think his luckiest period was managing to (mostly) sell out arenas with DJ in tow and Vegas. Given the demand for nostalgia acts (and sadly this is what GNR is now) and grown ups with lots of spare cash wanting to relive their youth - it's huge business. Definitely lucky, but he timed it right for the gravy train - I think for us fans, we're just a little disappointed that it came late for Axl's voice and it was at the sacrifice of CD II and maybe even III. There are perhaps a handful of bands could have done the same without releases, but I'm not sure any would have the same pull as Axl & Slash. Kiss being the obvious example.

Yep, I'll admit, I'm biased for Axl as a fan of Axl. Had the sexual lawsuit happened in say 2020, when I really didn't care about Axl yet, I would have been on her side, saying something like,"In 1988, Axl wasn't exactly very gentleman like and had a VERY bad Reputation! I believe Sheila! " But now that I'm a HUGE Axl Fan, I'm like,"Fuck Sheila. She chased Axl , not the other way around and Is just going after Axl because she wants to use him for the money! She's an opportunist and a LIAR! " What a difference my thoughts made from 2020 and today! I am so biased for Axl. 💡🤔

At least you recognise that. I dare say there are many more that do not and yet still take the same stance.

Gotta love the constant "call Izzy to help with writing" lmfao

I can see how that phone call would go:

"Hey Izzy, remember how we stiffed you on the tour deal, and you told us to go fuck ourselves? Well, it's time for you to repay the favour. How about you help write some songs that GNR Ltd will own, you might get some royalties but ya know, songs don't really sell these days so you won't make much. Don't worry about coming out on tour - we have a pretty great guitarist who actually kinda looks like you. Pretty sweet deal, right? Everyone wins."

Axl's actually REALLY calm now and lately. Extremely calm. Like family friendly calm. If you said,"His behaviour in the late 80's and early 90's, it would have made a lot more sense.

Ask the general public what their opinion is of Axl and you'll get a lot of 4 letter words. People remember Axl of the 90s and haven't really changed their minds. We see he has become more professional in recent years, but we have no understanding of how combustible he is behind the scenes.

Haha, no. It's a good song and most people won't care about the clipping.

99.99% of people won't even hear the clipping. And speaking to those who have heard it, most people won't even like the song!

I like The General (it's no Monsters though). I can just about hear the clipping now it's pointed out (annoyingly).

As for reputation - it won't affect a band with the stature of GNR. It's a dodged digital track. It's a big deal to us, but nothing in the grand scale of things.

He absolutely cares. Listen to how he talks about the SMKC stuff. Like insisting thenearly records were on tape for the sound, going with Dave Cobb because of hisnreputation and wanting to do things live etc.

He cares generally. But I'm guessing he treated these new GN'R songs more like session work. He came in, laid down his parts, then moved on

I think this is the nail on the head. Slash & Duff most likely did their bits and that was their input done. Sent over to Axl et al to mix. It's just the CD booklet all over again. Half arsed and ironically rushed at the end, quite likely due to procrastination rather than perfection.

I said it earlier in the thread, but I’m sort of done harping on what I wish they did with “The General” versus just enjoying the song for what it is. Obviously, that doesn’t mean people have to pretend to like it. I dig it.

Mostly, I wish this band would keep tracks like “The General” and “Absurd” for a full-length album or for a bonus disc EP to an accompanying album. They’d do themselves more favors releasing groovier, poppier songs that are more palatable for the majority of the fan base. “Perhaps” was pretty well received, with the harshest criticism probably being that it’s an “old Axl song.” Or from people who are in love with the locker leak. “Hard Skool” sounds like Guns N’ Roses.

Or, you know … maybe if there was more cohesion with their releases. The weirder or experimental stuff can be the B sides., released SAME TIME as the “lead” single. “The General” as a B side to “Monsters.” “Hard Skool” as a B side to “Perhaps.” “Absurd” as a B side to “Atlas Shrugged.”

Other than Hard Skool being a B Side, I completely agree. Hard Skool definitely had single and air time potential. Hard Skool, Perhaps & Monsters would be been a great selection of singles for an 8 track EP of CD leftovers. I haven't listened to Atlas enough to make an opinion on that.

Imagine if we had a follow-up album as artistically brilliant as the 2008 album (so CD2, call it 12-15 songs) but mixed and mastered as great as TSI.

Keep Buckethead and Robin in the tracks, and you have one of the greatest albums of all time right there.

As much as I like the Reunion versions, I can't help but wish for final versions with Bucket, Brain & Robin.

For music yes, for fashion not as much. You see GnR shirts pop up in a lot of stores you or me probably wouldn't shop at.  But there are a lot of people out there wearing GNR shirts because they like the logo, or the name or the style or it's a cool fit.

Yeah, I see your point and agree - kids have always worn t-shirts of bands they've probably never even listened to. But I'm not sure those same kids would go to the GNR website. They're more likely to pick it up in a commercial chain store.
