How Guns N' Roses Used AI to Create Wild New Music Video 'The General'

Design studio Creative Works London turned to Stable Diffusion to create the Guns N' Roses video’s unsettling, dreamlike visuals.

So this article confirms Fernando pushed for this crap.
These guys are still acting and talking about the whole thing like it's something outstanding and out of this world.

I have nothing against them, only about the their unprofessional way of responding to negative reactions.

This website where this was posted is some cryptobro website by the way. Not surprising.
"Demystifying Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the decentralized web. Follow us for clear crypto news and explainers."

"About six weeks into production the band manager sent him a link to generative AI competition"

Fernando: Yo, here's the Peter Gabriel AI thing. Make it like that

    CWL: Yes sure

Fernando: So... now that we do AI, please revise the quotation from USD 50,000 to USD 2,000.

Anyone else here get the feeling that even IF they write and record a brand new album, with the NITL lineup, that perhaps a majority here will complain anyway about how:

-It's nowhere near as good as AFD or UYI

-It sounds old school compared to CD

-It would have sounded SOOOO much better with BH and/or Finck.

I am not sure there really is any pleasing the majority of the fanbase here, short of AFD II, which would also probably be criticised for it's lack of innovation.

An a NewGnr nostalgia fan, I say no. I for one, don't think that way. You cannot just conclude the majority's opinion using this thread as your fact.

This Music Video was garbage. The vibe you see is not limited to MyGnr forum. It's everywhere, from youtube comments to instagram to twitter to the word on the streets and in Hard Rock Cafe!

Needless to say Perhaps didn't get the same negative reaction, same with Ritz 91, Axl+Carrie Underwood, Axl/DC and so on. I would go as far as saying that Rock The Rock didn't get as much backlash as this stinky piece of AI.

This thing, sir, was wrong on many aspects.

    Nothing is happening.

Management contracted some cheap ass generation fuck all startup, then somebody typed in "the music group guns n' roses" + "skeletons" + "children" + "boys" + "dystopian urban landscape" + "night" + "neon colors" + "inspired by the movie Blade Runner" and then clicked on "morph with live footage" and "auto edit".

The result is the "music video" of The General.

There is nothing to "get" or understand. There is no direction, no cinematography, no acting, no storyboard, let alone a story or message to begin with. It's just what happens when people on very bad drugs living in their own bubbles are doing their thing totally disconnected from the outside world and their audience, hence their (in case of GNR non existent) reaction to the majority of initial reactions. They might have gotten the "artificial" part, but as far as "intelligence" goes they got a hell of a lot of living to do.

I said it before, just think of what Michael Jackson would have done with AI technology. You don't have to be a fan of his to understand how far off the rails this band and their entourage of coked out yes men have already gone.

I'm actually a little offended by contractors telling me I don't "get" a band I have already followed, recommended and supported 30+ years ago while the majority of those Starbucks hipsters were still shitting their diapers. I'm even more offended by the band not telling them to shut the fuck up. If anyone is in the position to tell people they don't get it, it's GNR not their coked out payroll people obviously not getting it themselves in the first place.

Couldn't agree more. This text is gold my friend. ♥️

Look at the time, money, and effort, that went into Rammstein’s Deutschland, it’s more epic and expensive than any video Guns N Roses ever did at the height of the MTV era and it came out 4 years ago (It currently has 351M views). Do you think they made it just for shits and giggles?

So you just said what DoMw94 was trying to explain lol  👇

People who want a video generally want more than this. It ain't happening these days.

A music video for a song that's been out over a month?

Only in GNR world could that count as "something special".

Well I don't have an issue with a music video being released a long time after the song. Estranged music video was released more than two years after UYI's. But that video was a multi million dollar cinematic production, not a lazy effort. It had elevated the song for fans much higher than perceived initially in 91 and added to its greatness.

Even I kind of like the General as a song. It has grown well on me personally. And I really don't want a lame music video to ruin my imagination about it.
