  1. The amount of Axl nut-swinging by 2 people here in this thread in particular is absolutely insane... Seriously that kind of fan devotion and defense is downright scary..

Funny how all of Axl's bitching about litigation that he seems more then willing to want to go after this. Not to mention the Irving Azoff case, and the Dr Pepper thing...

so if you own something anyone can use it for profit? Ok cool!

I aint swinging myself I see the mans point, I also now see why he is so careful with the band name and imagery. At the end of the day though I don't care much really it is a battle fought between lawyers about something that does not involve me except for the fact that this likely destroys any chance of a cool game with the current line up :shrugs:

I highly doubt there will ever be a game featuring the current line up. They're just not that well known to the general public.

  2. I feel as though DJ is going to stick around for quite a while. The audiences love him, Axl and the band get on really well with him and DJ seems to be having an awsome time being in GN'R.

Personally I doubt he signed on the previso of new music, at the end of the day Guns is Axl's baby. If Axl doesn't want to write he wont. However, I feel the fact that DJ helped write two great albums in the form of Saints Of Los Angeles and The Heroin Diaries greatly contributed in him being picked for Guns. I feel as though Axl has a plan for the future regarding new music and thought that DJ could help realise that vision.

As others have said though, writing and releasing new music isn't that simple. The record company may insist that the other Chinese era stuff get put out first. In which case it will be quite a while before any stuff written from scratch appears.

As far as DJ or anyone else not liking 'sitting around' for a few years I think all of the current lineup know how Guns/Axl rolls now ie still a lot of old songs played, new material not released year in year out and some lengthy downtime now and then. They have other projects as well. The thing with Bucket leaving was that possibly he thought that theyd be emphasis on new songs live and that Chinese wouldn't take that long to make. I guess he wasn't to know. Now though I think its clear how nu GN'R rolls. The thing is though I'd love some new material written from scratch as live, this is the best GN'R lineup since before the 'split'.

  3. I doubt we'll see a new album for a while yet. My guess is after the tour finishes work may start on a new album of some sort. I think it would be unlikely them releasing an album during a tour. I guess that they'll carry on touring well into 2011 so 2012 is a good estimate for a new album. Would also be 4 years since Chinese and its not uncommon for that to be the kind of gap in between albums for bands.

I think there is at least another albums worth of material somewhere which technically speaking could be released now but if it is untouched stuff from the Bucket/Finck era Axl may not want to release it without getting the current lineup to add some finishing touches to it (like with CD) or may not want to release it and simply leave it in the vault. I think, as others have said, record companies may be apprehensive to finance him making a new album from scratch after CD so the next 'new' album may be stuff from the CD era. My preference is more stuff from the CD era (first anyway), whilst I'd love the current lineup to make something from scratch, Chinese was a masterpiece so if there's other great stuff in a similar vein from the time it would be great to hear it.

I also doubt we'll hear much on the album front. I think one of the problems with Chinese was playing the songs and talking about the album years before it surfaced meaning people felt as though they were waiting a long time for it. And then of course there were the criticisms over how long it took. Saying that though I guess one of the reasons the Chinese took so long is that Axl was rebuilding the band from scratch and Bucket leaving must have thrown a spanner in the works. With the current lineup seeming pretty stable I doubt the wait will be as long as it was for Chinese.

  4. Just got back in Cardiff. I'm knackered! Will post a full review later but needless to say the best damn night of my life. Reading was nothing compared to last night. Axl was singing great despite having a sore throat and he seemed in such a great mood. These guys are the best damn live act around. Reunion, who needs one? Lets just hope its not another four years until Guns come back over to the UK.

  5. There have been plenty of reunions where the hatred ran deeper than Axl's for Slash so I would not rule it out at some point....Off the top of my head there has been reunoins involving Gilmour and Waters, Gillan and Blackmore, Ozzy and Black Sabbath.....If they do a reunion unless they play all AFD/ Lies stuff they almost have to have Matt back to play the UYI stuff Yes?

Gilmour & Waters: Live 8 was only a one off playing four songs for charity. The recent reunion was again only three songs I think and Gilmour will be playing probably one song at one show on Waters' Wall tour. Any of them you could hardly call a full blown reunion show.

Gillan & Blackmore: The Deep Purple reunion was anything but smooth. After 'coming back' in 1984 Gillan was fired in '87. Gillan then came back in '93 and Blackmore eventually walked out of the tour before it was over.

Ozzy & Sabbath: Was fairly smooth but there was very little new material (a couple of songs I think). Compare that with how quickly they released new material when Dio returned.

I can't see GN'R getting back together. At the end of the day Axl has the name and can still sell out arenas so I doubt he sees the point.

  6. Duff isn't coming back any time soon. Doing a one off spur of the moment thing is very different to joining full time. I think after this one off thing people are jumping the gun. For one Duff has commitments with Velvet Revolver anyway and also if he did rejoin Guns he probably wouldn't be as in control as he has in VR.

Tommy has done great things for this band and it would be a shame to see him go just for the sake of having another classic lineup member in it. I also doubt the public would care that much, the public want a certain guitarist to rejoin this band and I don't think they really care about anyone else which seems a bit stupid. Whatever anyone says I think Tommy is a great asset to the band. He's been through a lot of tough times in this band but stayed I doubt other people would have done the same.

  7. Im gonna bet Duff will be there. Just like Izzy did in 06' by doing the UK tour...

I dont think so. With Izzy he negotiated a deal ($) with gnr management to play a certain number of shows, wheas with duff it was a complete 1 off beacuse they ran in to each other in a london hotel and were awesome enough to make something major happen.

Lightening wont strike twice, well not in this instance

Would have to say I agree on that front. You never know though.

  8. Wahoo! Two days to go. rock1

Can't wait, I wonder if a certain Mr. Mckagan will make an appearance? I highly doubt it but you never know. Also hope there are some of those shirts with a picture of all the current band members on it that someone mentioned in another thread.

  9. No. I doubt there will be a fully fledged reunion anytime soon if indeed ever. First off if Axl did anything with the old band it would take all of the attention off the new band and it would also make it look like that nu GN'R was merely some oddity that happened between the band 'splitting up' and getting back together. Secondly I can't see Slash and Axl sharing the stage together anytime soon, those feelings run too deep. The closest example of their relationship is that of David Gilmour and Roger Waters. It was twenty years from Waters leaving Pink Floyd to playing with them again at Live 8. Even then Gilmour didn't look too happy and the main reason for their set even happening was that Bob Geldof heavily persuaded Gilmour into doing it because of the cause. Now, 25 years on from Waters' original departure we've had another short set from Gilmour & Waters and Gilmour is guesting on one of the Wall shows for probably one song. I can expect something similar from GN'R. No full show but one relatively short set for charity and that's being really overly optermistic. I can't ever see them doing a full world tour and an album.

I could see Adler guesting at a show and maybe more guest spots from Izzy and Duff in the future but never from Slash.

  10. No, 'he' was referring to himself.

Just another quote: '‎1 hour late, played shit, Axl was out of tune and they were just generally wank. Definitely not worth £50 a ticket. It was like watching an innacurate covers band.'

I'm just passing it on, don't shoot the messenger. I'd post his comment if he'd praised the band and hailed it as the best show ever, it's only because I know him, I thought it relevant to post it.

At the end of the day, it still is just his opinion.

    Ali

Yeah, I'll wait until the YouTube footage emerges. At least the show ran smoothly.

  11. It's getting awfully tight now what with the shows being next week. I'm starting to worry seeing as I'm at uni now and will need the ticket to be forwarded to me and couldn't get it sent here originally as I didn't know where I was staying when I booked it. Hopefully it'll arrive in the next few days.

    Snap.

I just emailed the ticket agents to ask for details, if they don't answer I'll ring Wednesday morning because I need to have the tickets in my hand next Monday/Tuesday the latest.

Maybe you should do the same?

Yeah, ticket agents do usually leave it quite tight I think, probably to stop touting. But if its not here soon I definitely will ring them. I have to see GN'R! rock3
