  1. The whole relationship with Beta is very bizarre. I always get the impression that he’s completely dependent on her
  2. I guess Duff announcing shows later in the year confirms that Guns is done for 2024 at least. I wonder will they come back next year? Also wonder whether I really want them to if touring and Monster is all they’ve got.
  3. Slash probably will work but more likely on a smkc album. At some point we’ll get the “We’re f*ckin back” tour with another NITL set and months of speculation on when they’ll play Monsters.
  4. Axl can release songs without Slash on lead guitar if he wants. But would Slash stay in Guns? I’m sure they’re all more mellow these days but I don’t think Slash would have that. He’d just leave and focus on other projects. And I think Axl needs Slash a lot more than Slash needs Axl these days.
  5. Whenever I see these arguments it always makes me sad that Axl just didn’t release this music 20 years ago with whoever the band was back then and just be done with it. Axl should just do brand new music with Slash that is closer to Slash’s style. For the Chinese stuff, just release it or can it. I think everyone but Axl and Sweersa are well over it by now.
  6. This is awesome. Much better than I expected. Love the guitar playing and the whole sound. Much more enjoyable to me than the old songs Guns are releasing.
  7. You can sign up now on his instagram to hear a clip of Oh Well. Sounds pretty cool
  8. This was a part of the setlist at a recent GNR show Guitar Solo, SCOM, NR, This I Love, Yesterdays, KOHD Thats probably 45 mins of ballads But this thread wasn’t really intended as a setlist bash. More just hopeful that they’ll do something very different next time they’re back.
  9. Fully agree and that’s exactly what I mean. Estranged is obviously a great song but it sucks the energy out of the show for sure. Especially where it’s placed in the set. Rocket Queen is a great song. Would love to hear it live one day without the jams and noodling.
  10. I saw SMKC last week and it was amazing how much energy the band had. Just 2 hours of straight up Rock. Then I watched Guns at the Whiskey in 1986 and was reminded that they were a great hard rock band with lots of attitude and energy at one point. And while I get the whole evolution thing, I’d love to see them go back to their roots for awhile at least. Leave the pianos and keyboards at home, play as a 5 piece, limit the show to 4 ballads, cut the songs over 7 mins, limit the guitar changes etc. Don’t drag songs out like KOHD. Even if the show is shorter, just keep the energy going. Id love to see that. And sure Axl did ACDC which is a similar vibe. Am I alone?
  11. Slash is too big to do theatre’s really. You’d have to do 4 or 5 nights in theatre to reach all the fans you get at even a 75% arena. But when you play bigger arenas, it can get a bit flat if lots of people don’t recognise the material. And believe it or not, most people don’t research a setlist before they buy a ticket. It’s a tough dilemma for sure.
  12. I remember going to see Velvet Revolver back in 05 and the crowd started chanting Guns N Roses
  13. I actually think it’s kinda cool and ballsy to play in a pretty big arena and play 7 or 8 songs off a new album. Wish Guns would take note But if he really wants positive reviews and to win over more casuals, it wouldn’t be any harm to throw them a bone.
  14. The 3 arena holds about 13 - 15k people. Big bands typically play there including the likes of Aerosmith and Maiden. Although it wasn’t sold out, it was fairly packed considering it was a solo guitarists show on a Thursday night. Maybe 8 - 10k were there and people seemed to be really into it around me. I will say though, while playing in a bigger arena like this, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to throw in something like SCOM and/or PC.
  15. Actually Slash could have been louder in the mix. I often find that these days. Maybe I just got used to his old loud UYI days. And I agree on the Guns songs. The venue last night is quite a big arena where big bands play. Certainly wouldn’t hurt to throw in SCOM or PC.
  16. Just a note, Avalon was played last night but it’s not on setlist fm.
  17. Yeah Slash was in top form as always. Dr Alibi, Too Far Gone, Don’t Damn Me and World on Fire were all particularly good. He did improvise the solo on Don’t Damn Me but I enjoyed it anyways.
  18. Great show tonight. Nothing new really, played Don’t Damn Me.
  19. I’ll be there tomorrow. Will let you all know if anything new is played. Wonder if they’ll do Perfect Crime
  20. It’s not really rock n roll to sit around watching YouTube videos and time stamping little inaccuracies. It’s also a bit bizarre to compare a video of Slash playing in his band, in their peak, in one of their career best performances to a quick cameo appearance at the Oscars where he flew in from Asia and probably had very limited time to actually prepare.
  21. After 9 years of reunion, they’ve never written together. It’s clear that Axl has no intention of releasing anything other than those leftovers from 20 odd years ago.
