I listened to Call of the Wild again and its better than I remembered actually. WoF still sucks though.

Driving Rain is a much better song with a much cooler riff imo.

Speak for yourself. I rank all four of those songs and would take them over at least half of the tracks that made Chinese Democracy.

I don't like any of their opening tracks. Apocalyptic Love was decent but far from the best on the album, World on Fire is weak Call of the Wild meh and The River is Rising is the worst track on 4 imho.

It's hilarious that folks think that Evaders mix will be anything like what the song will be. He had a Silkworms mix too back in the day, which sounded absolutely nothing like what Absurd turned out to be. You do know Evader isn't a band member don't you?

Where did this late October release date come from exactly? Is that the release date of the vinyl? Because if that's all we're going by, it doesn't mean they won't put it out on streaming before that. The tour dates wrap up at the end of October, so I'm sure they'll want to perform it on this tour before it ends, leading me to believe they put it on streaming sooner than we think.

I just wish they'd released the whole lot together though. Considering how small the Guns catalogue is, wouldn't it have felt better to Axl to group Hard Skool, Absurd, Perhaps, The General and Atlas together and have another EP to add to their discography?

Anyone else still digging this album? I like all SMKC albums to varying degrees, but 4 is probably the only one I can play front to back without skipping a song. Funnily enough, the only song I don't enjoy that much is The River Is Rising. I always thinks Slash seems to choose weak tracks to start his albums.

Slashs ego wouldn't allow him to play someone else's solo note for note. Even if Axl said "can't you play it like Robin does?" something tells me Slash would just be like Joey was when Pheobe was trying to show him how to speak French.

I love all three, but then I pretty much love 99% of their catalogue, hence why GNR are my favourite band.

With The General announced as the b-side, I think it's safe to say no new album is coming. Best case scenario is Atlas+Soul Monster in 2024. And that's it, I think. Unless they actually do the unthinkable and record actual new music.

Honestly haven't been able to stop playing this today. I purposefully deleted the leaks after hearing them all 5-6 times, anticipating they may ge5 a proper release one day, so I'm enjoying this so much right now.

Slash may have something to say about the use of the words "good old".... 😄

Hearing this properly mixed and mastered is a joy and a reminder of why this shitshow of a band are still my favourite after all these years.
