  1. We need to shape the questions in a way to avoid Axl's meaningless TMS-Interview-Style answers.

    1. Axl, when are we going to hear new music? This can be answered like "don't know" or "within the near future" like downliner said. We don't want that. I think it could be reformulated to "Axl, do you have any plans on releasing, playing or recording new music anytime soon?" or something like that.

    2. Axl, you mentioned an autobiography the last time we spoke to you, do you plan on releasing that? That's a fine question but I think we could encourage him to release it, like "Axl, since you mentioned an autobiography last time we spoke to you, we have been dying to hear your thoughts, your side of the story and what goes on in your creative mind. Do you plan on releasing that?"

    3. Axl, do you still intend to release Chinese Democracy II... or have you shifted mentally towards a record capturing the talents of the current line-up? Excellent question but maybe we should specify what we mean by "Chinese Democracy II" like "Axl, do you plan on releasing the other songs written previously to Chinese Democracy's release or do you think a new album would consist on material written by the current line-up?"

    4. Axl, will you ever debut new material live again or did Chinese Democracy sour that idea? Not sure we should treat Chinese Democracy in a negative way like that. Maybe it should be formulated like "Axl, will you ever debut new material live again or will we only hear new songs after an album release?"

!5. Axl, GNR has always released new music by way of albums, would you ever consider releasing new songs individually? This one's fine as it is, IMO.

Yes this is how to phrase them! As Axll always tends to be vague in his answers e.g. with "soon" or "maybe" keep in mind every question has to be totally specific and straight to the point.

  2. Ron's recent interview was surprising. He didn't say what the problem was. If it was a label problem would he have said it? So then is Axl the problem? Axl said on Trunk interview that the band was firing on all cyclinders so Why doesn't Axl want to go into the studio with these guys? Even if he has writer's block then just sitting down with these guys or going into the studio and hearing them all throw out ideas could get rid of that and get him inspired again but if he's not willing to be in the studio at the same time and at least try then how can he ever even know if he can get over writer's block? If that's what it is! Matt Sorum once said that when he was in the band that Axl said he considered they had 5 good lines written in 5 years! He sounds like perfectionism taken to such extremes, if we all were to do that we'd never get anything done hence the problem with Axl sadly it seems!

  3. This is def an album that reveals more each time you listen. Played it again lately and really felt the emotion in Axl's voice. The way he phrases and colours the words to add expression just make it uniquely him and the music is so epic and expressive esp There was a time and This I love. I've started to appreciate the album even more. Axl is such a unique talent. I hope he makes more music but it doesn't look like anytime for whatever reason!

  4. Ritz 88 that performance hands sown solidified Axl as the greatest performer of his generation! I watched it again tonight and I got teary eyed in thinking what happened to Axl in the years after coz he was just so passionate and electrifying and he lost some of that ove r the years. I saw him last year and he was great though. Axl was just a riveting performer, his energy, passion, expression is on a par with Janis Joplin! I don't get why people aren't falling at his feet. Axl in his prime outperformed all his contemporaries and nobody today holds a candle to him yet all the media and some fans talk about is what an asshole and douche! Do you guys think Axl is praised enough for his abilities as a performer?

  5. Does anyone know if the Melbourne concert is an all standing outdoor thing or can you get seats? Thanks!

The front section is 25 rows of seats which is separated from the general admission which is the gill behind.

I can understand if someone has seen him when he was younger and more energy and better vocals but they obvipously can't acept that Axl ages and changes just like everone. I find performers much more interesting inn their older years when they been around and experienced life and interesting stories to tell.

I don't understand what you mean by that. At least I don't understand it because it makes no sense in relation to Axl. Yes you're right about older artists evolving and bringing that wealth of life experience to their work and yes it can be a fantastic thing but to do that you actually have to release new material. I mean how can you say that you think this performance was all the better because of all the additional life experience Axl's had and all the interesting stories he's got to tell when he tells exactly none of those stories and the vast majority of the set is made up of songs that are over 20 years old? Axl may well have a plethora of new and interesting stories and experiences to share but until we get to hear some of it then the only thing we see as evidence of his advancing years is the decline in quality of performances. :shrugs:

I'm talking about The way Axl sings some of the songs in particular Patience, his voice has a richness and depth to it htat he didn't have in his younger years. I keep saying I wish he would sing in his natural voice all the time coz he sounds amazing esp at Bridge school benefit in amazing vocal in vid here! http://youtu.be/4uhm9aTNKqU

  6. No offense, but how do you know yours is a "more honest" review than others?

    Ali

    >This is a review from someone who is mad at Axl, doubt he was even there. And if he was, it was biased. I am apathetic about Axl and old GNR, and he sounds fine and plays three hours shows. I have no idea what people want from him.

Thanks for the review. Your take seems much closer to reality than some of the other reports.

i see, i'ts so much closer to your reality.

D'awwwwww! You guys are just hilarious really y'are! The dude attends the show which I'm guessing none of you did and writes a review which seems to tally pretty well with the press reviews and videos we've seen so far and just because he's not slobbering all over Axl's nutsack you accuse him of making it all up. I mean I can't see how you can even argue with certain points there to be honest (well I can because it's Gunzen, Ali and the little boy whose balls haven't dropped yet). He compared it unfavourably with the 2010 shows which seems to be something of a bone of contention amongst you but it's pretty well accepted that 2009/10 was the best Axl's sounded in years and anybody with ears knows that he's not been back on that kinda form since. If you rated the 2010 show at an 8 or a 9 then why is it giving a biased and innacurate review to mark this as a 6 when it's clearly inferior (worse voice, shorter setlist etc) to anybody not permanently clamped to Axl's nutsack? :shrugs:

Clearly his rock peers, journalists and fans who bash him have never seen him live before!

Do you really think that's the case or do you think that in a lot of cases it may be because they have seen him live before when he was much better?

I can understand if someone has seen him when he was younger and more energy and better vocals but they obvipously can't acept that Axl ages and changes just like everone. I find performers much more interesting inn their older years when they been around and experienced life and interesting stories to tell. I think there's a real beauty in that and that was very much evident in Axl now and at the Dublin concert.

  7. Hi I understand that may be your experience of the concert. I had a completely different one. I saw Axl last May when I lived in Dublin and I really didn't know what to expect but he was the real deal and more. When anyone talks about stage presence and sincerity in performance Axl is first thing I think about. I, like lot of fans was angry and disappointed it with Axl when he didn't attend RARHF. I really wanted to see him accept award coz he deserved to be praised and honored after years of bad press etc.. (some of his own doing but anyway!) However seeing him live completely changed my mind-he's a total showman, powerful and looked fragile at times when he was singing and it was heartbreaking! It just looked like he really cared about putting on a good show. The mickey mouse voice was not audible at all! I atch don't understand how people can bash him anymore after seeing him in concert as he's total rock legend. Clearly his rock peers, journalists and fans who bash him have never seen him live before!

  8. It's great that Axl did this and that there's finally something new to talk about! Axl is always quite quiet and soft spoken in person as compared to his larger than life stage persona! He does seem so much happier now. I really though the whole his RRHOF refusal etc.. drama would really bring him down but he seems in a better place than ever! He has so much charisma and presence everytime I see him on TV or signing autographs, I really vhanged my mind bout Axl when saw him in concert. he's the real deal and one of the greatest performers. What I mostly remember was how much stage presence he had that it was quite incredible! I've seen loads of legendary performers and better shows all round than him I suppose but he had more of a dominating presence. It was like a huge force and I didn't notice anyone on stage except him! Slash and the old GNR don't even have his presence. Weird! Anyone else find this?! So amazing!

  9. I never understood why people disliked Dizzy's piano work on UYI. It gives it very a Stonesy vibe and gives it a little different flavor than the previous releases, nothing wrong with that. Plus the outro on Locomotive is awesome

I think Axl's greatest strength on the piano is his ability to compose on it. He has an ability to create songs with tremendous beauty and great structure even if they aren't "complicated" or hard to play. He has a great sense of melody. Though NR, Estranged and TIL are pretty impressive compositions.

Also have to give credit to Dizzy for The Blues though; absolutely beautiful piano work on that song.

    This!

  10. Like everyone here I'd love to hear new music form Axl and the band but I just can't see it happening as it would've already by now. In 2011 Axl was off the road for nealy the whole year and he didn't write with the band. If he didn't then with all that free time then it's unlikely ever? I'm not being pessinistic just realistic. If Axl feels he is still trying to live up to the old Gnr legacy then releasing more music over the years would've curbed that criticism that and reinforced this new band as a force in the media and fans eyes. I don't get it but I think it's due to Axl's mental problems and fear of criticism. Who knows. I know this is all common sense and been sais before! Alot of the reason why people dismiss the new band over the years is bacause the lack of output(14 songs in 20 years). If he had released more music at least people can't dismiss him as a productive musician. Who releases a perfect album? There are legendary musicians who still release music even tho it doesn't compare to their earlier work e.g MJ, Bruce Springsteen etc.. Axl needs to stop the O.C.D and just at least release the rest of the CD tracks and then start collabing with the new band. It's great that Ron at least acknowledges what the fans want. Hopefully they'll get thru to Axl one day. As Glow Inc says the fans of current band are starving for music and that's an understatemnent! Anyway rant over from desperate fan haha.
