  1. Did anyone else get pissed off at the way Green Day spoke of Dizzy as the members were being inducted into the RRHOF? IMO, they minimalized his role to make him sound as if his contributions to the band were worthless and that it could have literally been any swinging dick that could have gotten that lucky. It was definitely condescending and snide, imo. Did anyone else feel the same? I bet they wouldn't have been so smug if Dizzy was in attendance.

  2. This could actually be cool.

I'm wondering if he's going to give us some cryptic info on a possible release date? For some reason, I could see this being a possibility. In 2007, both him and Gilby Clarke were touring as the Starfuckers at a small nightclub in Orlando. I was probably less than 6 feet from Dizzy the whole night. In between songs, I asked him about the release date of Chinese Democracy and he said "soon" and then winked at me. He was right. It was nearly a year to the month later.

It would be cool if he offered up similar info in regard to the follow-up tomorrow night.

  3. If Axl called you and said "Tell me one (1) thing to do differently with Guns N' Roses, and I'll do it", what would you say? I think I would say "Get new music out there by any means necessary, be it officially released, have it leaked by someone in the band, play it live, whatever. I don't care how, just get the fans new music.

    What would you say?

Honestly? I don't think there's anything that I would change. Our favorite band is preparing to tour for the 6th consecutive career, plus they finally have a competent management team who goes to great lengths to ensure that the band's best interests are a priority. As a fan, it's hard to ask for anything more at the moment.

  4. I used to H A T E Breakdown. Somewhere around 10 years ago, something clicked and I just started liking it. I don't think I've ever gone from hating a song as much as I did to loving a song as much as I do with any other song I've ever heard.

Same. In my teens, I used to skip Breakdown every time it cam up in rotation. It wasn't until my late 20s that I started to appreciate the song for what it is. One of their finest, imo.

  5. I've always loved this song from day one and admired his brutal honesty. Every few months, for whatever reason, this same topic is revisited. I do believe there are people who may not like song as a whole, but I don't believe the majority dislike the song soley because he dropped the n-bomb or used the word f*ggot. That's just silly.

Let's be real. Most of us admired the fact that he had the balls to say what he did. I wouldn't change a damn thing and I don't believe the majority here would either, if you're being honest. The thought of being labeled a racist scares people. Period. That's why so many members "like the song, but" feel compelled to let everyone know that they don't approve of this or that. Fucking whatever.

I'd like to think if Axl had to do it all over, he would have said the exact same thing. This song is a great example of what made Axl such a badass at one point.

  6. I remember the day the album came out I bought 2 CD's and 2 vinyl copies. That cost me like $70.

I'll never understand how one can buy multiple copies of the same album without being obsessive. Maybe 2 max if you absolutely love it and want one on vinyl and one on CD, but other than that, just weird ...

Remember the LoveMyLifeLovemyWife guy? He bought something like 20 + copies of the album and posted all those pictures bragging about it. Honestly, the only thing that comes off to me is that you are a scary an/or lonely individual in the real world.

    [edit]

I remember when some fans were concerned that the stores were going to run out of copies due to the demand. Funny in hindsight.

  7. I'm not going to defend Axl's given choice of lyrics on that song. But I will say that I really like that song a lot, I just wish he would of choosen another way to express his discontent.

Honestly I'm suprised Axl has not revisited that song, replace those words and we have a great song. I would go as far as to say it's the best song on lies, or it could have been. He just should have changed 4 words.

Sorry, but I think that's absolute fucking bullshit. Society teaches you to believe that what he said was wrong. It's not. People are entitled to their thoughts and opinions, regardless of what they are. Actions are a different story. It's no secret that Axl was the small town white boy who felt this way due to various personal encounters and experiences. The guy comes from the sticks of Indiana to a big city like Los Angeles. If we're being honest, it's not all that unimaginable that he may have thought and felt the things that he did. He is entitled to these thoughts and free to express them. Anyone who says that he should replace certain words for it to be a great song is just afraid to admit - out of fear of being labeled a racist - that most of us feel certain thoughts or opinions at one time or another throughout our lives that many would view as hateful or not politically correct. Any one who claims otherwise is lying or full of shit. Take your choice.

Seriously ... fuck changing the lyrics. They are fine as is and represent a period of the man's life. Get over it. It's only been over 25 years.
