It is strange but I don't like Axl in this interview. The China one caused much more effect on me and he looked and sounded much more natural. But that's just my opinion.

There's something about his posture and his speaking that doesn't look completely right to me. At times he seems out of breath and looks like he breaths through his mouth.

Maybe I feel it unnatural because it was recorded and edited while the other thing was not edited and more like a live thing.

He wasn't hyper in this one while on the China on, IMO, he was more like the Axl I know.

Only moment when he gets really excited and truly happy is the last question about AC/DC. He says he loves that Angus is his boss and will do whatever he wants him to do. Made me feel like if Axl could choose and permanently join AC/DC he would do it without hesitation, even if that meant quitting GNR.

That's exactly how I feel about this interview. They also look a tad wary and tense to me.

They played Goffertpark in 2006 which wasn't a relocation I think. In 2010, maybe they closed some seating areas as it was Gelredome XS (probably what you are referring to re 2012). In 2012 it was Ahoy from the beginning, no resize.

Anyway, I definitely think they will do the Netherlands. I know a lot of non-hardcore fans who already told me that if they come, they will definitely go to the show. Hopefully I was also a good ambassador when I met Richard Fortus in Chicago in July on the day in between the two shows and told him that I came all the way from the Netherlands just for the shows...

The Goffertpark had two locations for concerts - a big one and a small one. Ahoy Arena has a capacity for 15.000 but only 9000 tickets were sold in 2012, so they build up the stage more towards the center of the floor.

However, let's hope they will do the Netherlands! I'm trying to get people enthusiastic again about Guns! :D

    Netherlands should be 100% there.

Axl and Slash have performed there every time when they came with their solo bands to Europe.

I know... I live in the Netherlands. But Axl's band was not all that successful. In 2006 the band had to be relocated to a much smaller venue due to poor tickets sales, and in 2012 they had to resize the venue for the same reasons. Been there, seen it. That's what worries me: are promoters still interested? Except for some hardcore fans the reunion is not a hot item over here, yet... :(

What was your impression of NIN? All they had was Pretty Hate Machine out, they might as well have booked Pet Shop Boys as the opening act.

Quite honestly my memory of NIN is rather blurred - I can't remember all that much about it... I do remember Skid Row though... Funny, because I really became a NIN-fan later in time. I should've paid more attention, I guess...

  5. Wembley 91. Had this combined ticket: concert, bus, ferry. So I went with the bus from The Netherlands to Ostend in Belgium. Ferry to Dover - there was another bus waiting which brought us to London. Then Wembley. Then hotel. Next morning back the same way. I loved the show - I was blown away!! My first GnR concert and so many new songs.

Of course Izzy was still in, but I can't remember seeing him...smilie_girl_075-3.gif I was only focused on Axl, Slash and Duff...

Then I saw them 3 times in 92 ,and 4 times in 93 using the same options: combined bus/concert ticket. God, I so loved all those shows. Wish I could do it all over again... sigh. And yes, I was always front row at the railing.

  6. My Silver account is finished and I'd like to upgrade to Club Member. But it doesn't work for me. I wanted the upgrade without a T-shirt and it the info says, click here:

There is no "click here" to find, though. I couldn't make any other choice than to add the Upgrade to the cart to see if that worked, but I don't get directed to my Paypal account - I get an error message instead.

"There was an error processing the payment. Please try a different payment method or contact us for assistance."

I use Paypal on a daily bases so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong... :( Could you please help me out?

    - bits n' bobs dates: no world tour announcement but scraps of dates leaking out slowly so nobody can conceivably organise an itineraries and you have people selling tickets after new dates are leaked.

This is what irritates me most of all. I mean, I have a life and I work, and I guess we all do. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do some planning?

I was loaned this book to read in my early 20s by a colleague who was about 15 years or so older than me and I too found it a tough read, but me being 10 years older now I think I wanna give it another try.

Really want to track down close to new copies of Robert John and George Chin's photo books to add to my two versions of Reckless Road.

I gave it a few more tries, but I got stuck half way because my mind wanders off. Once was enough for me, I reckon. :D

  9. I absolutely like the first Mick Wall book the best. It's good. "Guns n' Roses - The most Dangerous Band in the World". It was written at that time and day I really like it. Mick was a huge Guns fan and I enjoyed the read. Bits and pieces are used in W.A.R. so I think there was no real need for the latter.

Love Robert John, George Chin, Marc Canter, and I like Mark Putterford. There are more books with great photos and excerpts of magazine articles. I got them all, but never got Slash's or Duff's book. Might get them eventually. I don't think I'm all that interested in Steven's book, though.

And quite frankly, I think Graig Duswalt's book is the biggest waist of paper. I found Danny Sugerman's Appetite for Destruction rather tough to read.

All we can do is hope. It could be more of the same, which would be very disappointing, but then they could use this as an opportunity to reinvigorate the band.

    I try to keep my expectations low, but my hopes are;

    • Overhaul the stage design. Something more fitting and create, rather than looking like someone in GNR gets a discount at the effects shop.
    • Axl is more engaged. He dumps the washed-up Elvis phase and has some spark to him.
    • I'd like them to pick the songs as they go, like the UYI era. Have a spontaneous more energised vibe about them, not the drudge and predictability of nuGNR.

    I don't think that's too much.

    This.
