I read it too.
Actually neither of them was at a no way out situation. Most had parents that weren't that unsupportive (even Axl said his parents kept on trying to talk him into going to college and studying, not to mention Slash who was always on good terms with his folks). All of them could get some decent jobs and just work, we're talking USA here, not some 3-rd world country. Whatever they did was more a matter of choice, maybe a choice made in a more than usually difficult situation but still not a necessity. Also, what seems extraordinarily digusting or unimaginable for one doesn't have to be so for others, especially if those others are rebellious kids, pretending to be really bad, drunk and drugged and surrounding themselves with people who are morally very "liberated" like hookers, strippers, drug dealers, women dealers and God knows who else. I guess whatever they did was more because it was a more convenient option at that moment than because they were so desperate. Still, it neither disgusts or dissapoints me at all. Nor do I condemn them for that. Whatever. It was their lives and their choices and I never expected to find saints in Guns N'Roses.
Beautifully put!
And as for those saying that truck driver incident was a legit reason for Axl to despise gay people - really? It's as if I would hate all heterosexual men for having been in similar situations. If I did, most of you would definitely give me a hard time about it.

wow you so just threw out - slash locomotive angus - fuck ya!
Haha yes But I think it goes: guest, guest's hit - yes. Guest, deep cut from concert band - yes. Guest, deep cut from guest - not optimal

I agree that it is a treat having Angus show up, insane to complain about it. It doesn't take anything away from the show and either way, you never know what you sign up for when buying a ticket. "I was expecting 27 songs and got 26, this is not acceptable!!"?! However it IS kind of odd playing Riff Raff. Just imagine Slash showing up at an AC/DC show and ripping right into Locomotive. Such a meh moment for the crowd compared to what could be! The Guns crowd would likely be euphoric to You Shook Me.

I had a blast, was completely blown away and perhaps lost it a bit (sorry to those around). Civil War a real highlight. The show did however go on for one or two songs too many, by the time they pulled out Patience when I was expecting PC I was not exactly thrilled. However I would have been had they excluded a couple of covers before that.
Axl does really sound better in person, people are genuinely impressed by his voice but I can also agree it doesn't sound right when recorded. Perhaps that specific falsetto tone is blurred out when you are there and instead you only hear his power and that he is singing in tune. Generally people on social media seem to be blown away but it does however bother me that they feel the right to mock Axl's physical appearance. He doesn't look anything like he did back in the day but he does not look worse that the average middle aged concert goer and he has got huge charisma. Saying the show was better with your eyes closed because of his appearance is just mean, his energy is amazing. And saying "I wanted to marry him back in the day but not anymore, lol" when you are overweight and bloated yourself? I can promise you the feeling is mutual.

Such a crappy headline in Sweden's biggest paper. The concert gets 4/5 but the headline reads "Axl's voice needs oxygen at the end" which is only referring to the review of This I Love (all songs are reviewed). On the contrary the same reviewer pointed out in the review of Copenhagen that Axl didn't even seem to be the least tired at the end of PC. On top of that it also says something like "click to see which songs only got 1/5"

Started to get really excited after having felt like lennon for a while now!
Any chance we'll be hearing OTGM or have they stopped alternating?
Also, what are the chances of New Rose again? Prefer it over Attitude

It's like you said. He's been doing just enough to keep this afloat. All that bogs me is the drop in quality from 2016. I mean, AC/DC aside, look at this:
Wow, that's actually really good. You're telling me I'm not getting that tonight (have been avoiding clips on purpose)? At least I hope it's perceived close to that when you're there in person!

What the hell is Fortus doing with Izzy's part of the solo? Nobody is interested in his shredding, stick to the original vibe ffs! Other than that it looked like a solid performance, Axl's vocal performance is ok even if I can see why some people wouldn't like the falsetto (he's getting universal praise from the press who has been mocking him for years so how bad can it be live?). He also seems to put in that deeper rasp at times which I love and didn't think he had in him anymore (don't care much for the AC/DC rasp personally).
Over all I just can't get over the feeling that Axl recorded all these cool vocals that weren't natural for him when he was young and now he is paying the price. It sounds like it hurts. His deeper clean voice is great and the most pleasant to listen to but of course he wouldn't have stuck out from the crowd back in the day with just that.

Anyone planning om going to the afterparty at Cafe Opera? I want to, unless I'm too tired after the show, but I honestly have no idea of how to get there. Any pointers?
It's very central and right next to the hotel that they're staying at. Do you know where that is? In any case it's within walking distance from the central station

Thanks mate sound advice there is a direct bus 185SEK return if brought online
Ive just been reading about the horror taxi prices YOU have too argree a price before travel or end up getting rinsed,,,,,, £££££££
From what you say train or bus would take same time due to change at Central st
The Hotel is few yards from Fridhemplam so i guess Bus it is
Once again thanks
Bus will do great but if you want to take a taxi just make sure to go with one of the companies I listed. There is a perfectly organized system outside terminal 5 with specific lines for each of the big companies (marked by signs) and one or some lines for the rest. You won't miss it and just ask for the price before you get in. Around 500 SEK is reasonable.

I'd say the options are fairly equal. If there is a direct Flygbussarna bus that is probably both the cheapest and quickest option (I'd guess 119 SEK, 45 mins), however it's not the main Flygbussarna bus line so perhaps it doesn't depart as often.
Arlanda express + bus 1 is also doable. The train is 270 sek or something and it's around 20 minutes to the central station. Bus 1 is close by and only 5-10 minutes to Fridhemsplan but I guess you have to find the bus stop, which is not that easy because it's not really a bus station but just a small stop on a street close by, and also I am not sure how you pay when you are new in town. You might have to download an app or buy a card at a convenience store.
Taxis have fixed prices from about 470 to 530 SEK from Arlanda to central Stockholm so if you are two people that is cheaper and of course easier. The ride should be 35-50 mins depending on traffic. Just make sure to ONLY use well known companies like Taxi Stockholm, Kurir or 020. Tourists are known to be ripped off by less serious drivers and unfortunately you have to pay (I have heard horror stories about 9000 SEK but at least 2000 SEK is common).

So yeah, after all my bitching I caved and got London tickets anyway. I'M A HYPOCRITE AND I DON'T CARE. WELCOME TO THE FUCKIN' JUNGLE BABAYYYY!!!
I'm a victim of consumerism...
I don't know if consumerism means spending money you earn on things you truly enjoy, rather than buying material things just for the sake of buying things.. you're all good!
Anyways at least for Sweden I found the prices very affordable. It seems prices here were the lowest, which is perplexing considering price levels are generally very high compared to most of Europe AND the show sold out in minutes, so there is no doubt they could've charged twice as much...

I'll be in the golden circle! Out of curiosity, those of you traveling from other countries, where are you from?

I thought I read about some connection between Sharon and Axl during the "lost years". Strange that he never met Ozzy then.

The contrast between Steven and Izzy is startling.
Steven has turned up for his guest spots and acted with dignity, making many fans (and presumably himself) happy in the process. Had things gone to plan, he very well might have got to do some AFD30 shows next year.
Izzy has sat at home petulantly tweeting and writing songs about money and contracts, throwing said AFD30 shows into doubt.
Until Izzy gets that chip off his shoulder, I'm no longer that fussed about seeing him back because he obviously only cares about one thing. Maybe the same could be said of Axl, Slash and Duff, but at least they're not stupid enough to admit they're only playing for the 'loot'.
Any reunion of the AFD line up was always going to be a short term thing. There's only so far you can take one album.
Well to be completely fair, not getting an equal share represents more than just money. It represents what they think of his value on many levels and it is also about respect.
That said, I think there is good reason to pay Izzy less. Not Fortus levels, but a bit less.

I see Duff gets bashed here all of a sudden. I believe in terms of live shows and press he is more valuable than Izzy. He is more well known because he was one of three originals who remained through the huge UYI tour, when GNR was plastered all over magazines and TV. He was also always more visible and energetic onstage and he has always done a lot of press.
Since the GNR heyday he has had success with VR, released books and generally remained in the limelight. He is also know both as a hard worker, reliable, a mediator, and everybody's friend. He also stayed in the partnership this whole time.
Both in terms of PR and marketing and pulling the weight behind the scenes and on stage Duff is a great asset. And that is not taking anything away from Izzy.

Something I noticed was that Axl didn't contact Duff about Slash's number but asked Fernando to find it instead. And when he talks about the dinner with Slash he says "and then we hung out just a week later or so", or something along those lines, to Duff. It struck me because everyone seem to assume that Duff worked hard to get Axl to talk to Slash again but the way Axl describes it, it seems like he didn't have Duff in mind when it happened and he even talks about them hanging out as an event similar to the dinner with Slash.

Just watched the thing after reading here about Axl's demeanor. He just seemed nervous to me, and then at the end they mentioned that it was time to go on stage. Either he was just nervous about the interview or he was nervous and tense because it was just before the show, most likely both. He would probably have been more relaxed if it was after the show. I wouldn't read anything into it.

Yeah piss off the press, mostly when they're big sharks like LA Times...Dumb move, band reps, dumb move
Yeah, of course this is worse press than any review no matter the opinion in it. And now they are getting a review from a pissed off journalist regardless. Way to go. It's sad that "they" are still pulling this shit.

Does it strike you that maybe he likes "This I Love" and enjoys playing it, and doesn't _want_ or _care_ to play "Slither"?
Honestly I find that unlikely. He was never a fan of the piano ballads and I think he made some derogatory remarks about This I Love back in the day. Instead of spending like a fourth of the shows playing ballads he never liked (and the additions since UYI are arguably of lower quality), I am sure he wouldn't mind playing one of his biggest accomplishments outside GNR once in a while.

I'm not a big Steven fan but if this was it that is kind of disappointing. Two lesser known songs mid set at two shows in smaller markets. It's all so random, like throwing him a minimal bone. If this is it it's kind of obvious Axl didn't want him there. Maybe this is why the setlist doesn't rotate except for when it comes to CD songs and that no songs from other members are played. Slash got Adler and Coma, Axl got the rest of what he wanted. Isn't even a random cover like The Seeker something Axl picked out with NuGNR?

Well, that’s not really fair. He suffered from pancreatitis in 2013 along with several other healt issues. He was pressured for years by the management and his entourage to keep touring at an insane pace although he hated it because of anxiety (he didn’t even like performing), depression and physical pain, and he was on lots of pain killers to cope. He then annnouced his retirement from touring in 2016, much to the dislike of people around him - there was a lot of fame and fortune involved which everybody seemed to enjoy except him. Through the years he seemed more and more depressed, pressured, weak, almost a walking skeleton due to his health issues..
All this is followed very closely in a recent documentary that seemed almost like an obituary even though he was still alive when it was released. Nobody knows the cause of death yet but painkiller OD or suiciude seem to be everybody’s guess. Either way he did not party himself to death - he was obviously unhappy and in physical pain.
