  1. Yes, they're probably my favorite band. I really like all of their albums, including the first three ones and One Hot Minute. I'm also looking forward to their new album, Josh got way better and confident since the start of IWY tour and seems like Rick Rubin won't be working with them, so I'm expecting something really interesting.

  2. New leaks from Californication sessions, two unreleased songs and a lot of demos, Mommasan:

John played a bit of Tellin' A Lie during Don't Forget Me outro live at Slane Castle 2003, 4:15:

There's a lot of stuff on this channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/RHCPtv6/videos

Looks like more songs will leak over the next few days/weeks, like the Greatest Hits sessions stuff, probably including studio versions of Mini-Epic (Kill For Your Country), Rolling Sly Stone and Leverage Of Space. There's also a song called Circle Of The Noose that was recorded for their second album with Dave Navarro and it was dropped when Dave left and Frusciante came back.

  3. Some news about the next album:
Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has spoken about the band's new album, revealing that work has begun on "28 or 30 songs".

Speaking to Noise 11, Klinghoffer revealed that the Chili Peppers have been working in the studio despite not yet having a producer on board.

"The Chili Peppers are working every day writing,” said Klinghoffer. "We have produced a more elaborate demo stage into the writing, at least more than the band has before. Flea owns a really great studio now. I’ve been recording and writing with the Chili Peppers every day."

Klinghoffer added, "We've written musically 30 songs now. We sort of did this last time, which was my first album. We piled a shitload of stuff on Anthony and he actually came through. He wrote lyrics to 50 songs in the end. We recorded 50 last time. We released an extra 17 that didn’t go on the album. We are conscious to not do that again but we are already up to 28 or 30 songs."

Should Rick Rubin not join the project, it will mark the group's first album without their long-time producer since 'Mother's Milk', which was released in 1989. “That is sort of up in the air still," said Klinghoffer. "Normally he becomes involved in the arranging process but he hasn’t yet been which is good for me. I like it the way we are doing it so far. There has not been an official producer named yet so in the absence of that you never know what could happen."

In May, drummer Chad Smith revealed that the band had been working on a new album. "This is my favourite time, being creative, coming up with ideas," said Smith. "You go there at 11 o'clock with something that wasn't a piece of music, everyone collaborates on something, three hours later you've got something that's a piece of music that wasn't there before."

PS: Rubin didn't produce Mother's Milk, BSSM was his first work with them.

If Rick really stays out, I'll expect something really interesting and different from previous releases. Looking forward to listen to this stuff.

  4. Seeing your avatar image made me remember something. Didn't Buckethead audition to be with the band awhile back? After Frusciante left for the first time? Now that would have been something to hear.

Yeah. I think Flea said they couldn't really groove with him.

Exactly, he did an audition around '92-'93:

    12) Did Buckethead audition for the Red Hot Chili Peppers?

Yes. One journalists account reported that the lead singer picked Buckethead up at the airport and found out that Buckethead had not heard any of their tunes. The audition proceeded anyway, and Buckethead played in his inimitable fashion (i.e., robot dance, hyper-metal licks etc...) and when he finished the band applauded raucously. Flea confirmed that they auditioned BH saying that he was "sweet and normal" but they wanted someone "...who could also kick a groove."

Such a shame, they could be great together.

  5. Last week I listened to I'm With You and it was great, it's really a grower. Anyway Open/Close, Strange Man and Long Progression should've been on the album instead of Annie Wants A Baby, Police Station and Dance, Dance, Dance. I think the next album will be way better than IWY, Josh improved a lot and got more confident since the beginning of the tour judging by his live performances, solos and jams. He'll never be as good as John, but I like him.

  6. Yeah, I love RHCP, they're for sure one of my favorite bands. And I also appreciate every album released until the moment, One Hot Minute is underrated IMO.

Have you guys heard about the new leaks? Some demos/rough mixes from Californication and By The Way:

    Californication (Early Version):

Fall Water (By The Way Sessions):

There's more stuff on that channel.

That Cali demo is completely different from the final version, here's a quote from AK's book about the song creation:

"Back in the studio, things were going well, but the one song that was so important to me was less important to everybody else. That was "Californication." Every time I'd bring it up, everyone would go, "we've got twenty-five other songs recorded. We don't need antoher one." "No, we have to have this." I urged. "This is the anchor of the whole record. It's as good a lyric as I've written in a long time. It has to be a song." I was not letting go. I kept telling John we had to finish it. Meanwhile, the session was winding down and we had only a few days of basic track recording left. In the last moments of recording, John came running into the studio with his new thirty-thousand-dollar ($30k) White Falcon hollow-body guitar. He said, "I've got it! I've got 'Californication'!" He sat down and plucked this incredibly spare yet haunting combination of notes. It was so different from any other approach that we'd taken for the song that I didn't quite hear it. Then he started singing it, and it was at the high end of my range, but it was doable. He taught it to Flea and Chad, and we rehearsed it a couple of times and recorded it. It was such a sensation of relief and gratification, to know that the song didn't end up in the same trash bin as "Quixotic Elixir" and a number of other songs that I had high hopes for."

  7. I love these live bootlegs, it's great for the fans to be able to purchase any concert you want. Hopefully they'll continue with this stuff on the next album tour and also release bootlegs from previous tours.

I would choose Wet Sand from Oakland instead of Duluth though.

  8. Dot Hacker - How's Your Process? (Work)

How is this album? I'm a big fan of Inhibition.

If you like Inhibition you'll enjoy this one too. I'm still not sure which one I like better, they're both great. Looking forward to the second part, if I'm not mistaken it will be out in october.

  9. It's a great album, not his best but I like it, my favorite tracks on the album are Fanfare and Crowded. I think it's nice for him to create this experimental stuff, he always said that he like this kind of music. I'm happy with him doing his solo stuff and Josh playing with the Peppers.

Also Josh's band Dot Hacker released a new album. If anyone want to hear it here's a complete stream from Billboard site:
