  1. People were streaming out past us  at  about 2/3 of  set.  Typical irish thing  to get  out and  beat  the  traffic ?i didn't  care  about  being  stuck in the  car park for  2 hours afterwards once  I got to headbang along to  paradise city ?

  2. Been  to  countless gigs over  the  years  but  GnR's performance at  Slane completely  blew me away.  As  a few  have  already  said  it  was  a surreal emotional  experience  seeing and  hearing the  guys tear it  up after  years  of  thinking  it would  never  happen.  The  crowd was  bananas. You could  really  see and  feel the  band  feeding  off the  crowd. Axl really  brought it  but  it really  is "the  slash show". The  guy  is an absolute guitar monster. He's  playing  is  better than ever and  the  place went ape shit whenever  he  stared soloing. As  far  as  the  songs went estranged in  particular was  amazing. Gotta say  the  seeker  really  is a great  addition to the  set  and  fits in  nicely  in the  encore. All  in  all it was  the  perfect setting for  one  of rocks  all time  greats.

  3. Let's get real guys. I'd love nothing more than Brian to go back to ACDC. He's one of the greatest rock singers of all time. But the man'd hearing is shot to bits. No way he could stand up to any kind of sustained touring. Seriously I never heard anything as loud as them when I saw them last year. Plus let's be honest the guy is in his late 60's and there's no question he was starting to struggle with the material live. Let's jsut hope he can keep making music and perform at small gigs like this.

Yup that is their second to last show for 23 years... It is a killer bootleg if you can get it.  There are a few sound issues the first couple songs, they even stop in the middle of Jungle but once they got it sorted out they tear it the fuck up.

I recall listening to Nightrain and Brownstone from this gig and the solo's are just completely improvised and off the cuff. Mega stuff!

Here is a great version and great intro jam for "all you kiddies out there in cocaine land"

They incorporate a little "Oh Well" and "Train Kept a Rollin" into it... And a tiny bit of "Roadhouse Blues" at the end..

4 minute improv jam at the beginning!:headbang:They really were all on fire as a band at that stage of the tour.

  6. The main point i was trying to get at with my origianl post was that for a guy thats been in the band since 89/90 as an "official" memeber and played on every record since the illusions could simply be a contract worker in the band during this tour and also in the last 10-15 years. Would he have any extra influence on band decisions etc.

  7. So we all know the big 3 are milking it with this "reunion" with stories speculating millions per show with the rest of the band I guess on some sort of generic contracts. I'm curious as to the  status of Dizzy .The guy's been  a silent loyal follower to Axl for 25 years or so. Surely he must be higher up the pecking order than say Melissa or Frank? :shrugs:

It's really sad and must be excruciatingly difficult for him after doing everything right and keeping  quiet for over a year. Being a good soldier only to be undercutted last minute. After practicing for over a year. Think about that for a minute. So dirty!

Its particualrly dirty form Slash and Duff. With Axl you kind of expect it. Relationship there is non existant more or less given how he said they intereacted with each other when he played with them.
Okay with Stevens track record I can understand the guys relucatance to give him the sole no.1 drum spot for a world tour but he definitely deserved more than he was getting.

Here you can hear him better on a Slash show from 2012. Don't know if it's him, he sound a bit different for me, anyway, he wasn't there during the World on Fire tour.

Don't think thats him. Doesn't particularly sound like him and why would he be working with SMKC? He was Duff's tech in GNR and then Bumble's tech with nu-GNR. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe the people in SA are just simply more normal and don't feel the constant need to look for even the slightest errors and bash the whole band and Axl mercilessly because in one minute of three songs during a live peformance on a huge stage with dancing and running his voice wasn't perfect. Maybe contrary to the people in NA they just can and do enjoy the experience of a great quality live concert and can write about it instead of just trying their best to bring everyone down.

In the UYI era Guns were bad because they were unprofessional, Axl was late, they didn't have a setlist, the shows were chaotic, Axl was ranting too much, blah, blah, blah. Now they're professional, have a setlist, come on time, there's no talking and no ranting on stage, there are no breaks in the performance at all and it's wrong again cause it is stale and boring. Well...

The best comment I've read in one of the gig threads in a long time.

Yes, Axl has very serious mental health and control issues.  That's the real reason he'll only let two of the originals in "his" band and won't let Izzy (his childhood friend) or Steven back in.  He needs to keep the hired hands, those he thinks are "loyal" to him, his yes men, those that he can easily control.  A real reunion would threaten his control.

 So you're a Psychologist thats treated Axl . Have to laugh at these kinds of comments.
