  1. Great thread and a tough call. Like many TWAT outro is a contender, as is Prostitute and I.R.S for the long high note, BUT I Went Monsters, by a whisker. Because Axl's rasp section is on point and I like the guitar work at the end. The combo nudged it for me.
  2. They should have released these in Dolby Atmos and put out a fun Horror / Halloween video. Would have been a cool seasonal release. Quite like them. Some fantastic vocals. At this point anything from this era is experimental so i'm enjoying them for what they are. Definitely stronger offerings from the CD era.
  3. Would definitely be interested in an Andrew Watt produced album. With stipulations. Ozzy's Ordinary Man album was strong but maybe a bit light for an Ozzy record. I thought Patient Number 9 was fantastic. Was more that classic Ozzy solo sound and had some heavy moments. Andrew Watt had a lot to do with the strength of those two albums from what i've watched / read. He managed to make Ozzy sound great too so that's a valuable talent to have for GnR so long as it doesnt sound autotuned. I'm really liking the new Stones album too, how much that is thanks to Andrew Watt isnt all that clear, they only seem to be giving him credit for helping them crack through the recording process. I think the overal album has a pop influence in its production which must be something he brought to the table. It's just about right but i lacks a little stones down and dirty sound. Very polished in parts. I wouldnt want that for GnR. You can't deny he seems to have a bit of a magic touch for legacy artists right now. Getting him involved with GnR would be smart I think.
  4. Listening to this on headphones, car and decent speakers. Mix sounds muddy. Quite like the song in the context of Chinese Democracy. It's better than maybe 5 of the songs that made that record. I do wonder if they had taken the time to rework it fully so it sounds less like Chinese Democracy era and more like UYI era it might have been stronger. With slash's meh solo and the generic rocky sound they've injected into it, it's a bit Frankenstein'd. Should have gone the whole hog and committed to a more classic GnR sound - sweeping guitar solos and Axl using more rasp and less Chinese Democracy era mickey/wailing. Have pre ordered the vinyl as the combo of this and The General feels pretty cool for some reason. Nice thing to have in the collection. Ridiculous antics prior to the release aside, the release has some nice things about it - relatively decent song, surprise vinyl w/The General, a video to accompany it. Happy days.
  5. Some fantastic shots in this video. Shows how much they have in the can just sitting there doing nothing. Surely a streamer has approached them for a BTS doc /feature.
  6. There should be a dedicated section on this forum praising a man for being 61 and sounding like he does. What are we going to be doing at 61? Not screaming our lungs out during LALD like Axl Rose i'll tell you now. Say what you want but the man's approaching state pension in the UK and just headlined the premier festival in such a manor that he could be 20 years younger. For all the negativity there should be a dedicated thread that you can just throw in a load of appreciation for what he still brings gig after gig.
  7. Absolutely right. I was having a conversation with a mate who appreciates Guns, and when I said he was 61 he immediately said how does he sound this good. That gets lost in every write up and frankly on this board. There were moments tonight where he pulled out rasp that it makes no biological sense to come out of a 61 year old. That should be the headline really.
  8. Before tonight I was sure they were listening to mixes of Chinese Leaftovers. After Glasto i'm not so sure. The BBC def cocked up the mix, but there was a common thread through the whole show which was vocals. They were lower the whole way through for moments in songs where Axl goes Mickey. Lower register or rasp were higher. Here's my ignorance, Is it possible that you can pre approve a mix for a live performance? I still think they were listening to mixes of the next tracks to be released, but that Glasto broadcast made me think.
  9. Always going to be haters. In todays world Guns dont fit the agenda. No one makes meaningful decisions based on sites like this. Broad social sentiment is all that matters. Cant quite work out from what i'm seeing if they've landed on the right side of that but it's immediately obvious Arctic's got more of a battering on social than Guns. Theres no doubt they held a good account of themselves. Chips will fall where they'll fall.
  10. That's the bar for Axl now. How can you tell? Every time he usually goes full mickey, tnight he added a hint of rasp. That was him pulling out his best and it was great. I don't think this forum can argue anymore. I dont think there will be a better Axl performance from here. That was fantastic. Mix was shocking, they pulled it together from Heavens Door but they really struggled with Guns. Surprising cos BBC are usually bang on. Maybe shows how hard Guns are to get right live. I LOVED that performance. They showed the best of themselves right now. They could have changed their set to work better for a festival but as a fan, that was superb. Guns n' Fucking Roses!!
  11. Come on Axl. Every part of me wants him to treat this like his Axl/DC run but I know he'll perform exactly like he has on this leg of the tour. Fanboy nonsense aside, i'm just really happy to see the band I love where they deserve. Headlining Saturday night at Glasto. Whatever happens, i'm a proud fan and looking forward to it.
  12. Very excited for tonight. Best move they could make IMO is opening with Jungle. It would be epic, festival appropriate and set the mood immediately. They should look to Springsteen's headlining set as a cautionary tale. He played the exact set from his tour and parts of it just didnt land with an eclectic Glasto crowd. People wanted Born in the USA, not material from Working on a Dream. I remember thinking his set was a missed opportunity. Elton's got the right idea making a custom Glasto set.
  13. There's next to no chance Elton joins tomorrow. He's a headliner yet to play. Same as i'd have been surprised to see Slash and Duff join Foo's. They need to save their moment on stage for their main event. Just like Elton will. Paul McCartney was watching Foo's earlier so if he stays the whole weekend that's a possibility maybe and would be mega. Dua Lipa is a dead cert to appear if she's not touring. She's joined him on his tour before and that remix is huge. Paul McCartney joining Guns for Live and Let Die would be some Glastonbury Moment too!
  14. Theres no world where it's not one of their biggest gigs. In every way. The attendence numbers, the mainstream media coverage here, the worldwide music press, it's unquestionably one of the most respected festivals by musicians. It may not be as revered by fans or people in other countries, but in a music industry sense, there is no more important or prestigious festival than Glasto. Therefore it is one of their biggest gigs ever.
