  1. Speaking of Goin’ Down, I think it’d be cool if Tommy got the rights back and was able to release a solo version with Axl guesting on background vocals. That way we could get an officially released high quality version of the song and it wouldn’t be under the Guns name, in case that is too awkward. I’d enjoy that a lot.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxAytMrInFQ ...a little rough around the edges, but this is what I could come up with regarding Hard School with Josh drums. Unfortunately it's still brick-walled but so it goes.
  3. I like this "Longfeather" song... the odd time signature in the verse is cool, and it makes the chorus doubly effective when it goes into a more straight ahead feel. I can't help but imagining what Slash and Axl could've added to it, but I'm glad Duff is out there creating and releasing music into the world.
  4. If remember correctly, when Axl came online and did some of the forum chats, someone asked them that question and he said it doesn't have much to do with the book other than the line about having shoulders that are wide enough. I've actually never read the book myself. Edit: Found it! From Soul Monster's "a-4-d.com" website: And explaining the title: Song doesn't have all that much to do with the book other than trying to do what you believe in and a line about shoulders not being wide enough. mygnrforum.com, December 12, 2008
  5. I'm glad to get any GN'R songs we can get! But yeah, I've been surprised at some of the lackluster response to Atlas, as it's one of my favorite songs from the whole CD sessions. I think it was another example of something being able to handle the weight of the expectations placed upon its shoulders. I love the drums, and Axl's vocals (and lyrics). I love how the bass drops out in the first part of the chorus, and just some of the unique musicality as well (it feels like it modulates keys going from the verse to the pre-chorus and chorus). And that's one that I really hope Brian May's solo makes the final version, as it's not only cool (and instantly recognizable as Brian May to me), but it could also bring a whole other promotional angle to the song, which wouldn't hurt. I'd also be happy to get Soul Monster, State of Grace, Oklahoma (Berlin), Seven, Quick Song, Cuban Skies (if that's real), etc... anything really!
  6. Ok this video is pretty cool actually. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Good job GNR and management. I like that whoever did the editing actually took time to try to get parts to match musically and visually. Also, there's a part during the last chorus where Duff is singing the correct words, so I assume that was filmed at a soundcheck.
  7. Just saw the 29 second preview on iTunes of the "Perhaps" video and although it is only a compilation of live and behind-the-scene clips, it actually looked pretty cool (or perhaps I'm caught up in the excitement of a new release.
  8. Just curious, how much of the drop off in ticket prices if you purchase on the day of show? I've been thinking about going to the Nashville show coming up, but was thinking I might wait until closer to see if prices drop.
  9. Personally I loved Robin's solo, and at the same time appreciate Slash's solo (it struck me as jarring the first time I heard the soundcheck rehearsal). I imagine it's easy to get attached to a part (especially after listening to it over and over). But I think with time I'll come to love Slash's solo (it's already grown on me to be honest). I do find the leaving 2 notes of Robin's solo in there funny, although it doesn't bother me personally. I think that decision will end up alongside the "robot" in Better, the Mexican Vampire "But I don't want to do eet" in Sorry, the off-time line in Absurd, etc. as one of those moments that make a lot of fans stop and wonder 'why did Axl choose to do that?' (but it's also personally one of the reasons I'm a fan of the guy, in that he doesn't always take the most obvious route).
  10. My guess with that is maybe remixes? We know that OMG was somewhat reworked based off of the 2018(?) leak with Bumblefoot guitars, so that would be that. TIL has the Brain remix with the Axl superrasp vocals. Pro2 might be Blood in the Water (since that samples some of Prostitute, although I don't know where the "Blood in the Water" vocals come from, if they were recorded specifically for that or taken from elsewhere). Better2 has a couple options (probably the Brain "Better Gone" remix, although there's also the Bumblefoot acoustic version and DJ's version). Chi2 is the only one I don't have a guess on.
  11. Just drove to the local bar myself to give it a listen. Got a solid 3 plays in (interspersed between other songs to not wear out other people there) and what I could hear was really good to me. Sounds like a cross between UYI 2 and CD. Axl's vocals sounded great (sounded like the low "it was a long time"/Shackler's voice makes an appearance in the chorus), and the drums were really good (I'm curious to see who played them... maybe Brain?). It took a bit for Slash's solo to sink in after knowing Robin's so well, but after a few listens I think it'll be more natural. The ending of the solo is very Slash-esque. I can't wait to listen on good speakers when it's officially released. Overall, if the mix is better than the other two, I think this might be favorite of the NITL releases so far.
  12. This is an interesting screenshot, because of the folder behind the image that has VLC media files corresponding to some of the song titles, including ones that we haven't heard ("Se7en" "CSkies"), or at least that we know of anyways. Is this implying that someone have copies of those songs? (although I wonder since "Ab urd" is listed, and I don't think that was known to be Silkworms until right before it was released?, so might this be someone trying to pull a fast one?). What's also interesting is the name of the folder is "7," which was rumored to be a title for CD2 in some circles.
  13. Funny enough I am listening to "Curly Shuffle" as I stumbled upon this post. What a cool find! And what a cool track that is too. I hope it gets used one day.
