    In short:

In 2012, fans found out about a registration on ASCAP for a song titled "SDHFKSDJHFKSF" (a placeholder title, obviously) which was credited to Axl and a Richard Sanderson:

    https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/883512127

I gather that people then thought it was this guy:

    http://www.richard-sanderson.com/

Someone emailed him, and he said he had nothing to do with Axl. So it was left at that (some thought it could be an alias for Buckethead, lol).

I came across it later (since I wasn't around on the forums in 2012) on ASCAP. It turns out there are more than one Richard Sanderson (one can tell from the different registration numbers). And the Richard Sanderson who is co-credited with Axl is this guy:

    https://richardsanderson.weebly.com/

Also people assumed that the song was registered on ASCAP around that itme (2012). And maybe it appeared then

However, I recently got access to a copy of Axl's publishing deal with Sanctuary that was signed in 2004 and the song was included in there, so there were credits and copyrights before 2004.

Can you say which other titles were in his contract in 2004?

I separated all the tracks from both songs with AI. Drums and bass sounds exactly the same. Same snare tone, same bass tone and transient, same kick. Except the programming drums parts of course

I exctracted the 2 drums kick out of both songs, putting one over the other, revert the phase, 90% was gone.

So, for people saying Slash is not playing on one song but he's on the other one, it can't be true. Either is playing on both, or he's not.

What about the vocals? How do they sound separated?

From the band that brought you Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusions, the masters of blues based hard rock 😬 This sounds very…different, unique. If that’s what they were going for, great. Personally I think it’s a waste of what they’re best at. The bits I like are the hints at the old sound, end of Monsters in particular. In parts Axl sounds out of tune in his own song because the key/melody is just so weird. Weird!

Axl is so out of key and rythm ....

I don't think there's even a question of authenticity. It's very clearly GNR. I will agree that Axl has never sang like the way he sings on The General on a released track, however there's plenty of examples of new vocal approaches we hadn't heard from Axl on CD.

I think even on the Village mixes, cd, even Oh My God has distinct thinks in axl voice even as he aproached new things. Even Scraped has that distinct sound to his upper range.

I see where you could be coming from, but this is also a guy who's a insane perfectionist and had years to toy around with the sound and vocal's.

who would never release a vocal thats off pitch and drums that are out of place. Even CD vocals we're tuned oposed to the original village demos and Absurd, Hardskool and Perhaps both are autotuned/melodyne'd compared to the demos

So this bit was in the Billboard article about the song:

For a band with a reputation of keeping their fans waiting, GN’R is in a groove. “Hard Skool” is their second release in as many months, following the release of "Absurd," also a revamp of an unreleased song from the Chinese Democracy era.

On the latest record, Rose is listed as co-producer alongside Chinese Democracy co-producer Caram Costanzo. Seven co-writers worked on the release, just the second since the return of original members Slash and Duff McKagan in 2016 for the group's long-running Not in This Lifetime trek.

Not sure where they’re getting the 7 co-writers info unless they’re just counting all the current band members?

Does in any place has been posted the credits?
