  1. is it true that she was axl's real psychiatrist from the time? or is that some bizarre rumor. anyone know the truth?

She is not a psychiatrist. A psychiatrist has an M.D. This woman is some form of psychologist, or therapist.

  2. Was this the height of GNR for you? The biggest band in the world; the biggest action star in the world; and the biggest movie of the summer. It doesn't get any better than that.

I can certainly say that I was never more excited for the release of an album than when that video premiered. Coming off of Appetite and Lies, and with a hint of what was to come with Civil War, and then this kick ass song and video appears...

    What a great song.

  3. Like how Dont Cry have Dont Cry 2.

I mean if they refuse to make new music, they can atleast just tinker with the current ones. Crazy fans will still buy it, and names of new members can finally be acknowledged.

Or at worst, add "wu oh wu oh wu oh" after the chorus of SCoM. The way Axl sings it live.

Guns N Roses should release the London shows from 1987 on CD. We only got one song from those shows on the Live album and that one track was awesome.

That would be the best thing for GnR to do at this moment.

  4. I just don't understand Axl. He made life hard on his old bandmates and drove them away for... for creating the kind of music we're hearing now? Going Down is not even on par with the worst songs on UYI so what the hell? But I think Axl doesn't even know to this day what kind of music he wants to make. According to different sources Axl wanted to grow and evolve after the UYI albums yet he told in 99 that he wanted to make another AFD but wasn't allowed to do it because of Slash (wtf?).

He was lying, he was just trying to find a way to attack and blame Slash.

Honestly, I don't think he's as talented as people make out. If he was half the songwriter people believe him to be, he would have put out a solo album. Instead he hides behind the GNR name, clings to the old hits, and blames everyone around him for his failings. The truth is staring people in the face, they just don't want to see it. He is not, never has been, and never will be, a songwriter in the mould of Cobain, Yorke, Gallagher, White etc.. He is heavily reliant upon being part of a group, and musically, he was carried by GNR, more than people want to realise.

All the leaks are mediocre at best.

I think Rose is very talented, but you are right in that he was part of a magical group of musicians that augmented his talents.

Without that group, we see what Rose is capable of, and that must be a massive blow to his ego.

  5. I have been thinking for a while that a podcast might alleviate the sense of boredom beginning to creep into the community. It would give new life to GNR conversation. Consider some of the strong personalities we have on here - Randy, Magisme, Ali, ER etc. - a podcast could easily give rise to some intriguing discussion. Somebody could present the podcast (I'd like to, maybe with a co-presenter) and have a panel of opinion on the latest GNR topic.

I think it could get GNR to take us more seriously too. Vocalized opinion is pretty hard to ignore. It would put a face to our frustrations. Somebody like Bumblefoot might even join in.

    Awesome idea

  6. A lot of people consider it their worst song, which I thought so at first too. But after listening to it more and more, it kind of grows on you and becomes catchy. I actually kind of like it now, and it definitely isn't their worst song. I think people don't like it because it is weird and not like all other GnR material. But if you look past that, it's not THAT bad.

Anyone else feel the same? Or am I deranged?

"It kind of grows on you..."

    Yeah, like a fungus.

  7. I wouldn't look for him to get any soundtrack work. Movie producers tend to want things done by a certain time, and Rose's reputation isn't conducive to that.

Rose might try to use a movie as a vehicle to release a song, or in an effort to get a movie studio to pay for a video, but if you are suggesting that he would be hired to score a film, or to even produce a song related to a film, I don't see that happening.

What would he play on a piano only tour? I've seen Elton John in such a setting and he was amazing. Rose would have November Rain and Estranged and I guess some of the Chinese Democracy stuff. Don't Cry, maybe? It's Alright for sure.

Not much of a set list for Rose and a piano.

  8. I see a theme in the threads which centers around blaming Beta Labeis and her family for the current state of affairs in what is commonly referred to as "Guns N Roses".

But shouldn't it be commonly accepted that Rose himself is the reason for the current state of affairs? A manager gets paid when the entity it manages is productive. So no manager gets paid unless the artist is doing something productive. I see no reason for the Labeis family to prohibit Rose from doing anything, nor do I think they are capable of prohibiting Rose from doing anything. If he wanted to release new music, he would do so and I suspect the Labeis family would help him in those efforts. If he wanted to tour more, he would do so, as he has been doing for years now. If he wanted to release a DVD from a series of shows recorded, what, nine months ago, he would do so, and they would help him do so.

Now, they may be sheltering him from outside influences, or manipulating him to do as they want, but at the end of the day, it still comes down to Rose having the final say. Rose wanted this position. He is in charge. He was in charge when Goldstein was the manager. He was in charge when Mercatus was the manager. He was in charge when Azoff was the manager. He was in charge when McGee was the manager. He hired and fired managers at his will.

All of that is to say, put the blame for where things stand where it belongs. With Rose, not with Beta Labeis. She may be the worst manager in the history of management. But the decisions that are made are made by Rose, and have been for some time. It is what he wanted. It is what he got.

  9. He was kind of acid and sarcastic, we have plenty of that here. What really bugged people is knowing that perhaps Axl was just on the next room eating a bowl of healthy cereal bacon.

This made me laugh. Thanks and thanks for the effort.

  10. Beatle -
I think you need to (re-)read my post. I accused sigh of making an unfounded and untrue accusation. I accused sigh of making a false statement.
For your educational pleasure: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/libel -- in the event there is confusion, remember that you do not get to choose which definition of a word I was using.
But I appreciate your attempt to change the subject. My position remains: Sigh made a false statement.
    Sigh -
    Your statement was false.
I don't have any relationship with anybody associated with Guns N' Roses. That is another false statement.
You can attempt to play internet lawyer all you want, but since this began with you making a false statement, you're going to have a tough time.
This has nothing to do with defending Axl Rose and everything to do with outing you for the cupcake that you are.
You're caught in a lie. Do whatever you want to change the subject. Do whatever you want to distract from the fact that you're caught in a lie.
    Good luck.

Well that is an interesting response. Here I thought you were the one who was claiming to be in possession of all of these documents from Rose and management. I guess the tooth fairy put that memory stick under your pillow. Or maybe you can use this opportunity to clear these issues up for me. Are you the guy in possession of all of these documents, as has been reported? If so, how did you get them?

As to my "lie", which apparently has now been cleansed of its defamatory nature, you'll have to produce all of the contracts of all of the employees of Rose/Guns N Roses, dating back quite some time, in order to be able to support your assertion that I have lied. Otherwise, you lied about what is and is not in all of these contracts. Of course, there are lots of reports about such clauses in the employment contracts, which stands to reason given the public quotes and interviews of the current employees, but you claim to have knowledge otherwise. So get to sharing. Or do you want to be caught in a lie?

Good luck? Why would I need luck against you?

  11. It's always interesting to me to see the current employees speak publicly while constrained by the clauses in their employment contracts which prohibit them from speaking ill of Rose.

    no such clauses exist.

    I love irony.

You've made a categorically untrue statement about the band. This is not about irony. This is about libel. You've made the accusation that band members are contractually obligated to not speak ill of Axl. Your accusation is unfounded and untrue. You can try to joke your way out of it if you want. I'm not here for a fight. Just pointing out that you made a false statement. Carry on.

Truth is an absolute defense to any action for defamation. And any such claim brought against anyone who asserted that employees of Guns N Roses have such clauses in their employment contracts would therefore be a frivolous claim, making the filer of such a claim liable for damages for abusing the civil process and for filing a frivolous action.

And that's just the first part of any such defamation action. The next step would be that the alleged defamatory comments somehow damaged the reputation of Rose, which I don't think is true of the comment I made. But, again, it never gets to that point, because of the truth of my statements about the clauses.

The irony was lost on you, but related to the fact that you, who have some sort of relationship with someone associated with Guns N Roses, felt the need to come defend Rose from the prospect that his employees are contractually prohibited from speaking ill of him in public. Which is why their quotes and interviews always make for such interesting reading. Which is what I said in the first place.

If you like, I can tell you about the discovery process and how effective a tool it can be in litigation.

  12. It's always interesting to me to see the current employees speak publicly while constrained by the clauses in their employment contracts which prohibit them from speaking ill of Rose.

    no such clauses exist.

  14. This is a very interesting premise. Could the current employees of Guns N Roses back Rose into a corner and force him to record and release an album?

I don't think they could, because Rose's reaction would be to fire them rather than give in to someone else's ultimatum. Rose has to be in charge. He may not accept that reality, but history tells us that he must be the one in control.

Which leads to the next interesting premise. What would happen if the current employees did try such a power play and got fired? Rose would never be able to blame them for quitting. And I don't think Rose could reasonably replace the employees at this point and still maintain, even in his mind, the charade that Guns N Roses is still a band.

I suspect that if the current employees tried to back him into the record and release corner, it would spell the end of Rose using the Guns N Roses name. He may still record and release music, and tour, but I don't think he would use the name anymore, even though it is the brand which allows him to play the size of the venues he currently is able to book.

Reed, of course, would never participate in such a power play and so he could play with Rose going forward.
