Yes, and the same happened in other cases I have seen. From what I understand, this is common practice (and so the timing of the service is kind of in the discretion of the defendant). It seems like Kennedy's lawyers have gone about it "aggressively" by trying to serve Axl by affixing the documents at the door, etc. Unless they had no word about the attorneys Axl would be represented by or in general, and then saw in Axl's answer that failure of proper service may be used to get the suit dismissed.

I'm surprised they keep at it when it's become clear he's dodging it. I'm also surprised his lawyers haven't advised him to just receive them. Unless, as has been mentioned, maybe this is a strategy for dismissal?

The deadline to serve in NY is 120 days from the day the summons is filed, so it's getting close (and if the plaintiff fails to serve during that time, the lawsuit may be dismissed).

Is it possible that there could be a judgement against him if he is purposely dodging receiving the papers?

What a piece of shit. Who talks like that on an open forum. Gets all pissy because she didn't mention him by name. Kat referenced 'they' as in GNR - of which he's the manager. Surely that's good enough?!

Speaks volumes of (alleged) behaviour if he's this petty...in public.

I had a brief interaction with him in 2013 and even in that short period of time I can confirm: he's a true dickhead.

Can someone enlighten me, why would the band leak something when they have the means to just release it officially? Is there another entity in charge of their music releases?

This is a good question because nowadays it's super easy to get a song onto streaming sites with relative ease. Makes you wonder why they wouldn't have uploaded it already since it's out there.

  5. "Monsters" leak, easily my favorite.

    Also:

"The General" finally seeing the light of day. I like the track and honestly think some of the backlash is because these songs have taken on mythic quality that they can't possibly live up to. And honestly, that's no fault of the band's. Axl recorded it, shelved it, but the title got out and we all got our panties twisted up over what the mysterious "General" could be.

"Perhaps" was great too - happy to see a GNR track get good traction in the press.

Didn't see any shows, so can't really comment there.

My ideal CD and CD2 would've looked something like this:

    CD1: New GNR (2006)

    Chinese Democracy
    Better
    The Blues
    If The World
    There Was A Time
    Rhiad
    Perhaps
    Madagascar
    Hardschool
    I.R.S.
    Prostitute

    CD2: Dark/Heavy GNR (2007)

    Sorry
    Shackler's Revenge
    Scraped (Lies They Tell)
    Catcher In The Rye
    State Of Grace
    Going Down
    This I Love
    Absurd
    The General
    Soul Monster

I could roll with this too.

Something else I think about is if this were billed as a solo project not only would we have more albums (most likely) but we might even have a band that still tours between GNR legs, playing these songs.

A lot of the music from this era still just fills me with a sense of "what might have been".

The defense will have it easy.

The defense has two different examples of this women saying her hooking up with Axl was consensual back in the day.  Once in a video and another in her book. Now she is changing her story.  She is going to have to explain why she claimed it was consensual back then and not now. it sounds like buyers remorse now, and its even shadier that she is filing right before the statute of limitations runs out. It looks like a money grab

I have to be honest, I have only skimmed the accusations because they were so troubling and I was inclined to believe something happened, given Axl's history. But if there are two records of her claiming it was consensual prior to this, one in a book she wrote herself, that throws a wrench in the whole thing.

  8. I think Axl gets an unfair amount of shit for how long it took. He thought it was virtually done in 2000 and we know the locker leaks that he was basically right. And if you've read Chinese Whispers there are multiple accounts of people coming in and just going, "add this, add this, here's a new producer, add this." And then what came out in 2008 was super similar to what was done in 2000 with just a lot more layers on it.

I wrote a whole essay about this, but I honestly think if he just labelled it a solo project, the public and critics would have been a lot more receptive. I also think the label would have been less apprehensive and pushy about making it sound a certain way. Yes, Axl is a crazy perfectionist in the studio with bizarre work habits, but again, it was virtually done in 2000. He's made it clear that he would never have labeled solo, so it is what it is and what's done is done.

My personal take? I like the album a lot still. My two beefs with it are that there are just enormous amounts of layers of each song that it gets a bit convoluted at times. ALSO, I wish it was heavier. Axl was very into industrial metal at the time and "Better," "Shackler's," even the title track show this and fucking rule. And listening to everything that's leaked you can see he had so much more in this direction. I don't know, I wish we had an Axl solo album of:

    Chinese Democracy

    Shackler's Revenge

    Better

    Silkworms

    Oh My God

    Dummy

    There Was A Time

    Devious Bastard

    Monsters

    The General

    Prostitute

It wouldn't be for everybody, but it would be for some people, and I would be one of them, and man, would I have loved it.

The top comment w/ over 6k likes on the "Axl Rose SA allegation" r/news thread was "I'd be surprised if he didn't have a sexual assault allegation!" The Reddit thread was filled with "And every 60 seconds a minute passes in Africa"-type comments.

This is why his past self is an elephant in the room and part of why I think Axl should/should have addressed his past publicly. Sure, us hardcore GnR fans know that Axl is in a better place mentally and is much kinder and whatnot. But your average Joe still has the "asshole Axl" from the 80s/90s in their head when they think of him.

Yeah, but unfortunately the legal and PR advice given around this stuff is always deny, lay low, and it will pass, and that usually ends up being right.

  10. 2 minutes ago, DoubleTalkinComa said:

Whether the allegation is real or not (people are saying there are holes in the woman's story), the fact of the matter is Axl has a past of having had intense anger problems, physical abuse including women, the works. I've heard my own story of Axl physically assaulting a woman (back in the 80s/90s) through a friend casually talking to new people she had met in LA.

An elephant is in the room that I think Axl should acknowledge and take accountability for- his past anger issues and how that was harming the people around him at the time.

Legally-speaking that may not be good for him right now. But morally, just in general, I couldn't sleep at night if I harmed someone but denied it despite the real possibility I just simply didn't remember. Or knowing I've harmed people in my past and didn't give them the acknowledgment and closure from me that they deserve. Or the public knowing of my past reputation and not taking ownership and expressing my genuine remorse.

Yeah, I largely agree with this take. Even if this instance isn't true there are many other stories like it out there. And honestly, I don't fully hold it against him in the sense that I don't view him as a Weinstein or a Cosby. He was very unwell, untreated, manic, and likely had horrible trauma he was dealing with as well. Tie in the drugs, booze, leeches/hangers on, and a revolving door of women just wanting sex for status, it becomes a disaster waiting to happen.

I do hold it against him in the sense that he was very wrong at the time and he owes those people acknowledgement, apologies, money, something. I don't even need it public, but right your wrongs.

It will be VERY important if his bandmates support him or not.

    They're gonna not discuss it.

The Dylan one got thrown out as he wasn't even in the country at the time it was alleged to have happened.

And he was being followed by camera crews for most of the year. And when the lawyer was confronted with all this he said he had evidence that Dylan was actually in NY ("blogs and things").

  12. My honest take: Axl was not well, a wreck, and very unbalanced at this time. Seems to jive with Erin Everly's experience around then. I can buy it, or something similar, happened.

The question now for me is, where do we go from here and what will happen to Axl's reputation with us and the general public? My honest guess is it will probably fade from the public's mind and maybe she reaches a settlement. [Shrug].

I believe in her 100%. From the very little experience I had with him, he acted with others in a disrespectful manner. I can totally see him being exactly how Kat described.

And of course I agree, Fernando has to go.

Same. I had two brief interactions with him outside of Brooklyn Bowl and he could not have been more rude. Everything here rings true for me.

I have always wondered if this board is what became of just GNRFORUM. There was one epic Finck thread on there in '03 that I sometimes think about posting a tribute to.

Wäh,wäh, I don't want Slash and Duff on a GUNS N' ROSES song!!!

    Fucking hell XD

They (normally) ain't as good as Robin & Bucket on this kind of material, brah.

That said, if this really is Slash on this, I am pleasantly surprised. I loved "Silkworms" but wasn't convinced his style meshed well with it. I'm vibing big on "Monsters" so if it is him, I am excited about the future.

Assuming it's Slash on Monsters, it seems like he really found a way to gel with the material vs playing over top of it and it just feeling like a Slash copy/paste lol, kinda like how Prince's While My Guitar Gently Weeps solo is canon despite coming 40 years late and him not being a band member.

100% - if it actually is him I am psyched.

  16. Just chiming in to say I love both, but especially "Monsters" - it's heavy, crazy, industrial, and exactly what I want to hear from those days of Axl recording.

This reminds me so much of the Village leaks. It's something the band had forever, Axl was probably insecure over, and we all just fucking eat it up because it rules.

I may be going against the grain but I do not want Slash & Duff on these or any similar material - just release them as is.

EDIT: Read back some pages. Has it been confirmed that Slash & Duff are on these or Finck?
