  1. I don't get the hoopla about Travis barker. Yes, some of the Blink songs have cool drum parts, but overall he's always trying to be the star rather than sitting back, and outside of Blink his drumming is almost always too heavy handed, like he's trying to smash his drums. I like heavy hitters, but time and place!!
  2. Oh if gnr release an album, it's game over for all the other pretenders to the throne. Mark my words when the general gets released Drake, Dua Lipa etc are done.
  3. I agree with most all of this😄 As for artists being pushed by labels. It's less about radio and more about securing artists slots on to the key playlist which then generates more plays etc. On top of this they are literally everywhere you look if you use social media... Even if you aren't a fan you are somehow aware of these people. They've just switched mediums. Of course they still pay (in one way or another) radio stations too to play this music. No surprise about Drake. How could he manage doing all that womanising AND write songs at the same time😄
  4. For becoming a huge solo artist talked about in equal measures to his insanely huge former band??? Yes, I'm sure he would be very upset with himself. Politically, young and dumb Grohl might have been at odds with current Dave, who is now old dumb and rich. Very meh, but they kinda sound like everything they put out. Besides the last album where they attempted to play more funky and failed miserably.
  5. Nobody loves the foo fighters, not even you. Like / Put up with / don't hate. All acceptable. Love.... No can do😄
  6. Yeah, I guess a lot of rock fans are listening to their music with cd/vinyl because the numbers don't really match up with the touring numbers. All those top acts are all young and being pushed to the moon by labels. Astounding numbers but 20/40 years later will they have 26million listeners? I find it it incredibly difficult to see that happening. 120million + plays a month... I think I've heard 3 Weeknd songs?? ha! I'm so!!! happily out of the loop.
  7. I think it's that he said several years later he had an album of material as well as the highly anticipated Chinese democracy remix album
  8. On average according to bands both big and small it's 6 months to get physical copies, so unless you don't release physical copies you have to wait the length to get your album ready. So if GNR handed their new album over today, it would be a christmas release... and then there's also things to take into account like how many other major artists are releasing that month... which could mean the album sits ready for another few months waiting for an unimpeded release. Blink 182 work at warp speed in comparison to GNR. Blink got back together, and began the process. They don't need 10 years to come up with ideas, they either have their individual vaults of ideas or they make fresh stuff there and then, the process is almost certainly no longer than a year. I just don't think they are comparable. Slash and Blink is a comparison, as they both work quickly. GNR would still be in group texts trying to figure things out by the time Blink had an album + tour done as well as the follow up (will be interesting to see if this comes true😄)
  9. Were we expecting an album this year??🤣 I certainly was not. As far as not enough material... well, maybe that's a positive? Maybe they looked at the material and said "these 5 are Guns songs, these other songs don't feel right for gnr". I can only hope this realisation was after Absurd/HardSkool and that they realised both of those songs suck donkey dick.
  10. Well... to be fair over the past 20 years Axl has played a lot of concerts and those concerts all featured chinese democracy music, and in some cases there could be 4,5,6+ songs from the album. IF Axl was out there with the aim of just making money he'd drop the Chinese songs, and he'd get up and perform for an hour and change and piss off home. I obviously understand that he isn't as prolific as Billy Corgan, but I think he's just as credible an artist... even if he has spent 7 years milking a GNR reunion and has a tiny discography.
  11. I don't know how gladly Slash would be with GNR releasing an album he doesn't at least play on. If you mean the remainder of the tracks with Duff/Slash's re-recordings, then yes of course they'll happily go along with that. If Axl releases either of those versions that will be the last GNR record AND Slash/Duff will have written absolutely zero songs on it. The cost involved in a boxset is too much, and the interest level in chinese democracy era music isn't enough for any label to finance it. I also find it hard to believe Axl would be happy dumping these songs on some extras vinyl/cd for a boxset anniversary of Chinese Democracy. As for doing no harm putting it out... maybe, but what if HardSkool and Absurd are the better tracks from the collection he has? are we so desperate for music that we want to get 14 other dud songs like those? personally, I'm past the "just release anything, I'll buy it" stage. Whatever they put out needs to be legitimately good, none of this willing yourself to like it BS, those songs really killed my enthusiasm for new GNR😄
  12. Best show I witnessed was 2006 Dublin, closely followed by 2012.... but most memorable was 2010😄 Had fireworks not gone off that night then 2010 would be my number 1 show
  13. Those 2010 versions of it were probably superior! A rawer take could have been interesting for sure though! That could be said for the entire album though🤣
  14. The vocal? really? I actually think it's one of Axls best vocal performances. I know it's a bit phantom of the opera though, so that might turn some off it. For me, it's top tier stuff
  15. Yeah, I wouldn't have expected either of those songs to be in the top 20/30. Great songs though, so they should be high up. Also helped that This I love/Better have been played a lot in the concerts. The songs they don't play with the the exception of SIDHY are all much lower play counts. Yeah. I've only heard them play a snippet of it, once before SCOM on the 93 tour. Crazy that it still hasn't been played , I think these numbers say it would go over very well... more so than Attitude or whatever else they throw in.
  16. Janetty is absolutely insane! When he talked about killing someone... very unhinged
  17. I think IF anyone is looking it's Axl or someone from the Axl team. I would assume all the rest of them have no interest and think we're all losers😄 It would be kinda insane for a band not to at least monitor their largest fan forum, unofficial or not it is the largest gathering of GNR fans online, so! if they needed to gauge the temperature coming on here would answering any and all their fan related questions. I don't think they are all that concerned though. They are still doing relatively good business so pleasing this section of the fanbase is far below their priority levels.
  18. They 100% did join nugnr, Duff moreso considering he toured with them in 2014 and more than likely would have replaced Tommy full time if it came to it... But hard to say for sure consider Duff would almost certainly not make such a comment. As for 3 guitars as well as Izzy. I mean it wasn't a complete clusterfuck when they did it in 2012... But yeah, 4 guitars for gnr is just too many. I personally loved the 3 guitar thing, but it took a minute to get it right.
  19. Some of this is true. He was a nice guy and tried hard with the fans both online and in person. He also looked like a tool As for his playing ability. He started off ok, but by the time those final tours rolled around his playing had deteriorated. IF he was nailing it, I wouldn't care if he was on stage in a dress. He just wasn't putting the hours in and he slipped, and I don't really respect that when he's got a gig most players would die for... And he has Richard/Bumble nailing their parts. As for the reunion. I mean I know that's what he says. But I believe he saw the writing on the wall that he was surplus to requirements, he was not going to be lead guitar anymore, he wouldn't be writing songs for gnr and he would be far less positioned in the spotlight diminishing his ability to leverage for endorsements etc.... So he released a statement ahead of time so that he didn't appear to be fired. I believe Axl offered him the gig though.
  20. I actually prefer it over current day Slash. Bending it tune, tight technique and a nice feel in my opinion. Not 100% to the studio version, but kept it stylistically appropriate... At least to my recollection of it, it has been a minute since I watched him play it.
  21. I guess if it's between Ashba or Slash hacking CD songs like, I guess have to take the lesser or two evils and fo with some hacking. Robin would be the guy though. For me Richard doesn't quite nail the CD solos (for me), he plays the notes but I don't get the same feeling from his playing of them. I think his shining live solo was in November rain, that really suited his style, but it would be insane for him to play that lead with Slash 10ft away😄
  22. The drums are as integral a part as any other instrument. If there was a really clean and precise drummer on AFD, it would not have had a lot of its charm. It would have changed the whole sound of the band and made everybody play differently. Simple is not bad either. But if you can't hear it, then you can't hear it.
