  1. Personally, I love both. I see them as distinct. Like Deep Purple MkII v MKVII. I was sad to see the original band fall apart, and equally sad that NuGuns did not live up to the huge opportunity and that we didn’t hear more Bucket + Axl. Certainly I think what we have now (legacy tours, worse musicianship, no new music) is worse than both those eras (although not as bad as the Ashba years). Obviously quantity wise “original” Guns win. Quality wise some of Guns best songs are on CD. But songs like Paradise City and Nightrain will always remain more iconic. It is what it is, almost unheard of for any band to totally reinvent itself and match early career levels (particularly when that early career was so successful). Probably an impossible job. There is no true comparable precedent that I can think of.
  2. Looks like the score album has now been announced, different to the soundtrack album. Do we know if Slash also plays on the score? I cannot find credits for that album anywhere.
  3. I had pre-warned my mates to lower their expectations earlier today. I’d explained what “mickey” was. And that Frank was shit. Etc. This is totally fantastic, my mates don’t understand what I was on about. Sound is fantastic, Slash on fire. Only negative comment is “Axl doesn’t quite have the king capacity he once did” but that’s a sign of age and the vocal performance itself is being praised.
  4. That is poor, but if you’re based in UK and willing to sell I’d be interested in buying the second copy off you as I missed out on that 7” first time around.
  5. That’s terrible if true! But I don’t have the vinyl so if this does turn out to be true and anyone doesn’t want two copies - hit me up as I’d buy the vinyl from you.
  6. Agree. I think the problem is though that, as much as I live him, Slash doesn’t have the ability, variety or creativity of Buckethead, and is now c. 20 years older than Bucket was when he was in Guns so age could play a part as we all become less creative with time. It’s a real shame the way this all played out - Slash had many of his best years outside of Guns releasing solo stuff, while Bucket had many of his best years inside of Guns recording bucketloads (pun intended) of stuff that will likely never see the light of day. In another universe they would find a way to blend both together.
  7. Drive Home by Guthrie Govan / Steven Wilson gives it a run for its money… but voted TWAT. Some weird choices on there. Extreme - Rise I reckon could get a few votes as it is fresh in the memory.
  8. Yep, Picard series 3 was ace.
  9. If he is broke (and I hope he is not) it is entirely because of his terrible business model. Fabulous musician, excellent music, but the business-side lets him down. Get a decent website, promote properly, release limited edition coloured / splat vinyls (“gory headstump orange”!!! - via Sheet Happens or equivalent), tour outside USA, play guest spots, join a band… there’s a lot he could do. Releasing endless Pikes / Live Pikes which even I, as one of his most hardcore fans who has a huge box of $1000’s of dollars worth of his physical releases over the years in my attic, stopped buying even in the $2 sales… just won’t work I don’t think. I wish him well. Hopefully Axl reaches out and offers him a few guest spots to play TWAT live for $.
  10. 50% covers as well… This won’t entice me to join the fan club unfortunately. I like exclusive products normally - limited edition releases, demos, alt mixes or something more interesting - but more live tracks after a huge live boxset has been released. Nope.
