Wow, that's rough. Butchering the song. He sounded pretty great doing this in 2016.

He sounds like he has sounded the whole year tbh.

It's honestly just using the right exercises. I've heard a few coaches discuss this on their YouTube channels and the consensus is the voice is currently gone, but can be repaired.
Who knows what he has done though. I just think it sounds like he realises he's having difficulty in his upper range and is settling into his lower voice as it's a more dependable range and easier. The lower voice is always going to be easier to manoeuvre around in, considering it's closer to the natural speaking range. I would never claim to be a singer, but I "sing" and when I don't practice my upper range can be dogshit especially falsetto, it's usually poor breathing technique... But I nearly always sing in my chest voice without much or any warm up and pretty much sound consistent. Now... That's me, it's not a scientific analysis, just my 2c
Vocal exercises are great but they are not a miracle. There is absolutely no way Axl would be performing at the level he is performing right now without continuous vocal work. We may not like the mickey voice, but the fact that he has that range is impressive on itself. He is back to reaching the highest notes he ever recorded on stuff like TWAT. He is also in top physical shape for someone his age (without steroids at least). Other aspects of his voice would be suffering, not only the falsetto, if he did not take care of it.
I'm pretty sure Axl is at the upper limits of his current capabilities when it comes to singing and performance. The main issue is that his ceiling is getting lower and lower.

There is no working on his medium range, taking a break, hiring vocal coach or whatever anymore. His classic voice is simply not coming back. The fact that Axl's baritone voice is still this powerful and he has such control over it just shows that he takes care of his instrument, it is in as good a shape as it can be at this point. Axl's upper range is dying due to age and use, it is what it is. There is no way in the world he would be able to hit the kind of notes he does on stuff like TWAT without a lot of work.
Baritone sounds like an actual world famous professional singer, not someone at a bad karaoke. He should use it on most songs, and still bring out a couple of screens in falsetto here and there.

Axl is now using falsetto even in the first verses of Madagascar. Bummer.

Aside from his political career, berlusconi was known for hosting orgies and sex parties with bdsm involved. That's all there is to it. A joke.

Even Kiss have cut back on pyro recently. I went to see them in Newcastle recently and about half of the pyro was replaced with 'bang' sound effects being played through the speakers instead.
I know Kiss gets accused of backing tracks, but jeez...Backing tracks is the least of the issues with Kiss. For all the shit Axl gets, Paul Stanley got around his failing voice by lip syncing his way through shows since 2019. It's evident and shameful.

Had the same thought in my mind. But it may be due to the mix and proshot of this one
This is crazy. Houston 2016 has hints of 2006 all over it. Full blown crazy rasp in jungle, rasp on verses of RQ. Tonight was fun and went great considering the past year, but apples and oranges here

A bit confused by the reactions. Great show but Axl to me sounded pretty much on par with this tour so far? There is absolutely no way this is comparable to Houston 2016 lol.
With that said, he is doing great. In fantastic shape, clearly worked into getting his range back, even if the rasp isn't there. His best vocals since late 2017 or early 2017.

AC/DC has absolutely everything to do with it. The most destructive thing you can do to your voice is constantly push it to sing at the very upper limits of your natural range. The second most destructive thing is using a lot of rasp/drive. Proper vocal technique (something that Axl knows and applies, I got into detail on that a while back) will go a long way in protecting your voice, but not to the extent some people here think it will. Doing what Axl has done throughout his career will hurt any voice.
AC/DC with Brian Johnson material is absolutely insane. Brian was an insane vocalist, to those not familiar with his full body of work, I'd recommend listening to some of his material with Geordie. Once he joined AC/DC and started to sing those songs, his prime was gone in about 3 years. By 83 he was deteriorating. He certainly did a better job than Axl findind ways to keep sounding fine and performing, but his voice has been shot to bits for years.
If you look at Axl, he had his ups and downs from 2012 to 2016 but more or less preserved some of his ability. While his mid range was already shot, he pretty much had, throughout the period, that very powerful, full of overdrive voice at his very upper range. It is on display multiple times in that period, from the US shows in 2012, to TWAT in 2014 in Vegas, and in a lot of the 2016 reunion shows.
AC/DC came, and Axl started to use the voice constantly through whole sets. At the very upper limits of his range, with chainsaw rasp. I reckon that, at that point, it felt relatively comfortable and safe for him to do it. Still, at the second half of the AC/DC tour there were clear signs that he was overdoing it. That voice started to fail for the first time in his career, with cracks and stuff.
It was downhill from there. By 2017, while still somewhat decent, he was a totally different animal already. From 2018 to today, it's a whole new level of deterioration, with a lot of issues that never happened before in his career. Look closely and you will notice that a lot of those involve the upper zones of his range - being phisically unable to sing This I Love, the outro to YCBM etc. Pushing his limits had absolutely everything to with it.
On a positive note, considering the past few years, natural progression would mean him coming out this tour simply unable to sing. The fact that his is reaching the notes again, attempting stuff like TIL and sounding remotely decent indicates that he put in lots of work in the offseason to salvage whatever he has left. We do need to come to terms with the fact that this is what is left in his tank. What he is doing now is much safer, so he might be able to sustain this for a few years.

Listening to this show. Seems to be quite a (relative) comeback from Axls voice. High notes, rasp. Good for hin.

He sounds like he has consistently sounded since after 2017. If you think that's good, then it is good. If you think it's bad, then it is bad.
Imo he is very close to being done. Not as I singer in general, but the high pitched wailing is already on borrowed time. It sounds awful imo.

Not coming back, no way. The high pitched voice is done. I reckon soon we won't be able to reach the notes even as mickey. Baritone/regular voice is the way forward. It's immensely powerful still.

The fact that Axl can sound like he did at London and yet chooses to sound like this is appalling. Still hope he realizes this eventually.

How Axl sounded on Hard Skool ?
I thought it was amazingly bad, absolutely terrible.

Axl sounds just like he has sounded from 2018 onwards. Absolutely nothing different. Baritone Axl or the Dublin Axl with the weird rasp both sounded better than this.
-
I think those bits of rasp are not intentional. They are just the beggining of his issues and his upper register starting to fail.

I'm pretty convinced at this point that the whole narrative that Axl is lazy with his voice is BS. I've worked with a vocal coach in the past and posted a while ago about how Axl's body displays a full array of proper singing technique while he performs. The tongue sticking to his lower teeth, the hand clutching his chest at many points to avoid slipping into head voice, the fry technique properly employed for rasp. Then there is the range - regardless of wether we think it sounds pleasant or not, mickey is loud and high. At this point I'd say that Axl's regular voice is probably lower than Johnny Cash's. It is a feat on itself that he reaches those high notes, mickey or not. Freak of nature or not, you don't keep that sort of range into your 60's by getting out of bed and singing.
Then there is the baritone. Axl still displays immense power and control with his regular lower voice, as shown in london by singing songs such as Nightrain, SCOM and reaching the notes. The note he holds at the end of Patience is awesome. Most people don't realize that a lazy approach would ruin his baritone too, he would lose power and control. The amount of both on display indicates that he is maintaning it.
It's clear to me that he is doing whatever he can to keep performing. It is all we can ask for imo.

With covid it would also make sense for him too keep quiet and just recover in order do avoid hysteria and talks of canceling the whole tour.

It is also surprising to me how he is able to hit most notes in those songs with his baritone voice. Baritone Axl is the way forward. If he gets some of the high range back and throws in a couple of screams here and there things will be just fine. Rock on.

Maybe with all the drama Axl only had a flu, sore throat or something like that

Well to be honest I hope Axl is allright. Mental health issues can be tough to deal with it. With that said, he sounds pretty great singing the songs with hos regular voice. That's actually what most regular singers do. Hope he realizes this is a good way forward. He did those songs justice, they sound good this way. This opens up a whole new realms for him as a singer. He can be a great singer still with this approach.

There is a pattern with men who use their power and position to be abusive and sexually harass women. Fernando's behaviour is textbook, which makes me pretty sure the allegations are likely true. Also the lawsuit mentions messages and documents, I reckon those were attached to it too. He needs to be fired.
