  1. Yeah the ending was a bit off. I feel like it was almost intentionally horrible. Like they tried to make it bad to confuse the fuck out of everyone. The scene with Marty in the hospital bed with his family was just so fucking weird. The music, everything. And the villain is just some asshole who mows lawns?

And then the end where Rust becomes religious. Faaaaaaaaaaail.

The other 7 episodes were fucking solid though.

  2. For me, it was specifically Head Like a Hole and Something I Can Never Have that first turned me onto them...with Wish and Downward Spiral afterwards.

Do you remember the first NIN song that really got your attention and made you a fan?

I cringe soooo hard at Something I Can Never Have lyrics.

I think it might have been Piggy? I still dig that track. I started with the basics. Downward Spiral, Pretty Hate Machine etc. Don't really care for most of that era now in the same way I don't care for GNR's early stuff either anymore.

I'd like to declare my love for Ariana Grande here.

  3. Brobro....

I was thinking about Nails the other day and I'm curious what you think about the lyrics.

I know you're drawn to the music and instrumentality first and foremost...but do the lyrics and vocals matter to you?

For me, I first got into them around summer of 92 and I was listening to Pretty Hate Machine a lot. Even then, the synth stuff sounded really dated. Wasn't a huge fan of the "sound" compared to other music at the time, cause it already sounded kinda 80s to me. But I LOVED the lyrics and vocals.

And then when Downward Spiral came out, I was a 16 year old that just got dumped, and that mopey shit was like heroin shot right into my dick. And the sound was so much heavier...it was just better all around than PHM.

But when I kinda got over the teen angst I couldn't really relate to everything from The Fragile on. The emo angst sadsack shit was the biggest draw for me.

What do you think of NIN's lyrics? Just ignore it and focus on the music? Or do you enjoy them on some level?

    ET my hooray for tolerance!,

Let me put it this way, the more "personal" or "angsty" lyrics I do not care for and feel similarly as you do. Same goes for the vocals really. I think his voice was a bit annoying and nasally up until With Teeth. The introspective lyrics just don't gel with me and I could take or leave them.

For me it's more about when he goes for the kind of shit he did on a lot of Year Zero. Those are some of my favorite lyrics ever. The whole concept of that album is genius in my opinion. Songs like In This Twilight, The Warning and Me I'm Not for example are the kind of lyrics I love from him. Mr. Self Destruct? Nah, I'll pass.

Though I'd say probably more than half the stuff I listen to by Reznor is instrumental anyways. Whether it be his OST's with Atticus, the Ghosts album, HTDA or various album tracks.

I don't really care that much for PHM, Broken or TDS. The Fragile, Year Zero, The Slip and Ghosts are where it's at as far as I'm concerned.

  4. Funny parody but please read the OP. You are in direct violation of our guidelines here, and judging by your music taste you are probably better off just staying clear of this thread in general imo.

Feel free to create a "Guitar Rock Sanctuary" thread if you wish. :)

  5. I remember the teacher huddling us all up in a circle but I don't remember what she said. It was obvious that shit went down but I don't think that any of us really knew what was going on back then.

  6. Hang up what? I'm talking about the actual topic at hand. You're just spamming your own jokes (which no one else finds funny) and acting like a senile old man.

There's this button in the upper right hand corner labeled "Sign Out". You might want to give it a click.

  7. Is your default to just say "try harder" or "lol trent" whenever you can't make a point?

Deep Purple is just bad music. Like seriously, does anyone here in this thread actually listen to Deep Purple for fun? Like do you ever go "gee willikers I think I'll listen to some good old Deep Purple today." No, of course not. They're just a legacy band. No one fucking listens to them.

When I was in Florida the other week I ate at the Hard Rock and Deep Purple were playing there that night. Some dude offered tickets for like $10 and no one was going for it. I briefly considered buying them for like two seconds and then realized that I'd rather go back to my hotel and read A Game Of Thrones then watch Deep Purple. So I didn't. I'd be surprised if anyone showed up.

Besides a few 12 year olds learning the Smoke on the Water riff when they first get a guitar no one gives a shit.

I mean it's fucking Deep Purple. No one cares. No one.

  8. I didn't actually drop out technically. I was supposed to transfer to a night school because I just fucking hated waking up early, but then I just...didn't.

I don't know how to say this without sounding pretentious so I'll just say it. I was probably smarter than at least 80% of the kids in my school. I just didn't fucking care, hardly showed up and never did homework.

It's really a bunch of bullshit when you think about it.

History - fucking use Wikipedia and you've got a comprehensive article on every major event in the history of the world.

English - I like to read and write but unless you want to be a fucking writer who cares? Beyond middle school it should just be like a free period to read a book of your choice or watch TV.

Math - I fucking suck at high level math and I don't care. I know the shit you need in life and should the rare occasion ever come where I don't I'll grab a fucking calculator or the nearest Asian. Multiplication/division, fractions, variables, basic geometry - do you really need to know anything else?

Chemistry - I don't know if this shit is hard or if it's just because I only showed up to half the classes but I'm not going to be a fucking chemist and the same can be said for like...idk everyone? So fuck this shit. Withdrew. Just watched Breaking Bad instead.

I can't even remember other classes.

If it were up to me highschool would be less dumb shit you don't need to know and mostly college prep or trade-specific classes. And I'd put more emphasis on Health class and sex education so that you don't have deadbeat dads with two year old sons when they're fucking 19. The school system is pretty outdated in the age where you can look anything up on your iPhone. I get that a lot of it is teaching kids how to learn rather than the actual substance of what they're learning but at least make it interesting or relevant in today's context. It's such a waste of time really.

  9. Deep Purple is just bad music.

    lol trent

There's a guy named Trent in Deep Purple?

    Trent likes Deep Purple lol

Does he? And who the fuck cares?

I liked Deep Purple when I was 10. Hush, Highway Star, etc etc. They're just guitar/keyboard shred bullshit. They couldn't write a legit good tune if they tried.

Lynyrd Skynyrd aren't bloody fucking awful like Deep Purple so they win by default. And they've got some solid tunes. They're not innovators or exceptionally good musicians or anything of the sort. But sometimes it's just a good time to play some Skynyrd or Allman Bros on a roadtrip and that's more than you can see for fartrock like Deep Purple.

DP are the pinnacle of old cuntrock.

I will go to theaters for Jurassic World. Because it's JP and I can't let them down. I can't let them down. I can't let them down. They're counting on me.

  11. I haven't read up on this shit in a while, but like I wouldn't be surprised if it was an inside job.

I mean like, didn't some fireman basically admit that they pulled that one tower in a controlled demolition and then backtrack later? Not one of the twin towers. The little one. I forget. But it basically just fell out of nowhere.
