We're not sure if what Matt said about Duff is real or if it was just something he said to not affect Matt's ego.

But you're right about the style. Brain is a super talented musician, capable of playing some really technical stuff, including jazz and fusion. Frank was also capable, from what I can tell, and he's more of a rocker, but he obviously wasn't in the same league as Brain and Josh. To me, Josh's style was the perfect one for the new GNR, and he would be amazing with the NITL line-up too.

Besides, there's absolutely no GNR song released that is that hard to play for a professional drummer AFAIK.

I believe he did regret. But I think he admitted that he wasn't a good fit for the band.

The (super lengthy) interview I was talking about is this one. It's actually funny how he started the interview saying he was in Japan playing Brazilian samba, which is very random.

There's some time codes on the comments section, the GNR part starts at 01:20:54 .

Yeah...well there are still people who think Covid doesn't exist and the Earth is flat...they too heard it from many different sources just like we did about long lost love between Duff and Slash vs Frank.

What good is it for a GNR fan if someone is good jazz or fusion drummer!?

We need him to have proper timing in You could be mine, not Miles fuckin Davies or Nina Simone.

That doesn't say anything about Miles or Nina, just says that we need proper drummer in a right place.

I am completely ok with that if someone says Steve, Matt, Tico Torres or whoever is a shitty jazz or fusion drummer.  There is a reason someone is in GNR or Miles Davies band.

You mean the first Vegas concert in 2016?

Brain did say Frank was in a much bigger stuff with the stadium tour. But at the same time, he really missed the time he actually enjoyed being in that band with Buckethead. I don't think he would even consider the NITL to be as successful as it got, so I think he would just decline the invite and then, after, regret the decision lol.

What he said about Frank being a perfect fit was comparing to himself. Frank enjoyed being in GNR in 2006, he did not.

on the list of revolving GNR drummers, on the very bottom of it is Frank than NOBODY for miles followed by Brain!

    Enough said.

Wanna hear why?  Listen to YCBM or Mr. Brownstone from RamR 2006, that is NOT how those songs should be played.

  3. Nothing! Absolutely NOTHING!!

Have they managed to come up with one single song of GNR leve in 20 years?

No.   They were talentless hired musicians who played parts of others that played or came up before them.  A rock band doesn't become big through PR but quality.  You can have best PR in the world and you will still be unknown bend in the ocean of other unknown bands.

Those bands had 0 creativity or charisma and it has proven that Ax without iz/Slash/Duff ain't worth shit.

I always welcome questions. Sometimes I even rely heavily on them. So I don't overhype, it'll probably be a 20-25 minute interview and I will need to discuss the new Cherie Currie album that he produced. I actually have an interview with her too beforehand. So it's a time/see-how-it-goes approach in my head. Though I am looking at questions submitted regardless.

    Hey Brando,

    I'd have a few more.

ask him what his favorite 2 songs were from UYI I, UYI II, VR, also what his fav live tracks were during UYI tour

hey Brando, I'd have a few...

    - any chance of Neurotic Outsiders reissue?  was an reunion and a follow up ever an issue or could be an issue?

    - VR - were there any completed songs that hadn't made the albums?

    - does he talk with Slash or Duff? when was the last time he did?

    - if Fernando reached out to him, why does in his opinion Ax insist on 'his drummer'?

    - when was the last time he spoke to Ax?

    - was there ever TSI tour planned?

    - when was the last time he spoke to Iz? is Iz still in speaking terms with Slash?

    that's about it ;)

btw, I really like that Circus Diablo record he produced

    This is true.

But... go read the Bon Jovi statement too, he cancelled the entire tour. Not postponed, cancelled... so if the bands want to they can, and they can have agreements with the promoters etc. To prevent being sued. End of the day, we all know None of the summer dates are happening and I think dates in the winter won't happen either!

There is NO way anyone will tour for next several months.

Big tour get negotiated good couple of years ahead.  Club size tours 6-9 months ahead.

With Bon Jovi it is different case compared to most.

Bon Jovi as a bend are run by Bon Jovi and his family.  He calls the shots when he wants, though, in his case any break is - MORE then welcome.  His voice went down the hill tremendously last 3-5 years.  Although, Jon Bongiovi LOVES the money more than ANY other artist.  ...even if it costs him his health, which it did for them tme being.

But yeah... It took Corona to stop NITL tour! That is probably the first positive side effect of the world standing still.

Don't forget three solo albums and four EPs from Noel Gallagher, two Beady Eye albums, and two Liam Gallagher solo albums (four if you count the Acoustic Sessions release and the upcoming MTV Unplugged) since Chinese Democracy released.

Sadly, nothing nothing post Do you know what I mean was at least listenable.  Total waste of resoureces it was recorded on.  IMO. No diss on the fans intended.

...granted, any of them was probably way better than CD...

Oh shit, got ya! It was so obvious I couldn’t see it. Were guys named Jerry and Sean involved in this 2006 show? Nevermind, you added and I figured it out.

hey sorry for running a bit late...no, one is chad, the other played with many bands under his nick, would have to google out his real name,  But neither of the above,

Well there's photos of them hanging with Axl, and that time that Meegan was doing a live stream and Axl walked in to talk to Slash, so it's not true that they hardly talk. Not sure what the contract would say though.

what I was going to say, how I read what this person said, they don't talk more than they need to. there is no brotherhood/friendship. sure they chit chat, talk backstage, but they don't hang together in each others rooms, talk things in great lengths...see how surprised Meg was once Ax walked in?

I agree. I seriously don’t think anyone was truly wanting a Black Crowe’s reunion.

Black Crowes?  Hands down, one of the BEST bands ever!  They did not have one bad album.  Rich solo stuff?  One album better than the next.

If you are a blues rock/rock fan - it doesn'z get better than Crowes.  Just that Crowes reunion should have been one with Gorman and 1st line up, or the one with Marc Ford - this reunion is pulling Guns N Roses trick.

When you listen to BC, they were much more of a band than GNR.  GNR was always driven by Slasha and drums feat rest.

In Crowes, sure Robinsons were more exposed, but Chris vox was nothing more important to BC sound than Ed's or Gorman's.

Someone, I believe RS, one defined them 'nothing in the world defines rock n roll term than BC.

I'm not saying it would have sold more tickets.

I'm saying for the band legacy, for the quality of the recordings and shows for future posterity and releases, for capitalizing on what is critically and historically acknowledged as a far superior musical outfit which has barely any material available to view from their heyday, which made that album  that you say is the only one people care about -- 2016 seems like it was the last time to do it.

It would have been worth the cost to Axl Slash and Duff to eat that higher costs for one leg of a tour. The idea that it was risky and could have fallen apart at any minute with Izzy and Steven... firstly, I don't buy it... second, WHO THE FUCK CARES -- when did Guns N' Roses become an insurance company? You think Frank and Richard would haven't been willing to sit by the phone? F that.

Instead of being GNR, Slash views it as "just a gig," and despite the fact he's carrying the thing on his shoulders every night, it shows.

Nah.  That is the fan approach. Heart and business don't interact in business world.

Axl's view of GNR being a band stopped by mid 90's.

He is calling the shots based on what LN tells him to do.

Don't forget the average $ of a ticket x 70k or so per stadium.

As I mentioned earlier, did he say 'Not in this lifetime' only few years prior to NITL tour?  Who is playing guitar and bass now?

If you use a trick once, it runs runs out. Kaboom! Goes up in the air.

Reunion tour? Sure! 2020 everyone has seen it, what now?

Ax/Slash/Duff tour 2016, runs as long as it goes, when it wears out what is next?

Exactlly!  Original line up reunion tour!  Same stadiums, same places.  People will buy that. It secures them another 4-5 years of globe trottering, filling in their accounts.

If you have 2 cards up you slleve, don't use them at once.  why earn 400-500 mil $ if you can double that?  You can bet Iz gets for the reunion tour whatever he pleases.  Don't forget that last 4 years Ax share was biggest.  If he had to share 4 years with everyone else, the stake would not have been as fat and juicy.

I’m almost certain Izzy sold his stake in the partnership. Izzy must be a super chill guy with zero tolerance for drama to leave behind his stake in GNR.

Yes! Izzy is not part of the partnership for all we know, but he does own seeral other things within Guns N Roses company as sole owner.  ie. Slash = logo/merch.  And yes he does get paid for that, therefore, his role is still big in GNR.

Not as the 3, but a lot bigger than hired hands.

Izzy is, if you will, a member of the board. The other 3 Chairman in GNR company.  Therefore, Iz rightfully thought equal share or nothing in 2016.

@shotsfired cro I like your posts, scenarios.  Someone mentioned they believe there was than the low pay off Izzy said and why Matt declined a few guest slots. Axl owns GnR name, etc and is  Duff n Slash are owners. Izzy,,my thinking, being hired staff, would have had to sign a NDA, no meetings about setlists, nothing like that. He would be treated like staff .Matt too. I have to get this book to read .

Thnaks.   Guns N Roses is one of the most complicated bands in the world - if not the most complicated.

Apart from the partnership that is now owned by the 3, there are a million of sub contracts.

Izzy can not be viewed as a hired hand, because a side from his crative input on GNR catalogue, there are still contracts that he holds after all these years.

According to my knowlegde, Ax, Duff, Slash and Izzy are all legit owners in the company called Guns N Roses.

Of what? That I am not sure of.

Eg, how many people here are aware that in all the years he was out, Slash held rights to merch and logo?  As a sole owner!

I remember an insider once said what Izzy still owns, what Duff still owns.  I believe Iz had rights with something connected to musical aspect.  Can that have influence on eversame setlist, aside from Ax's inability to sing a lot of catalogue in 2020?  Maybe. Who knows.

From what I remember, Duff has more insight of the financial side than Axl, although Ax owns the name.  Therefore, Duff always rightfully slubbers on Izzy topic, probably also reason why Matt found 'just ticket + expensis' slot insultive.

It is such an insane spiderweb I doubt they themselvs know it by heart.

Before I bought my new vehicle a few years ago, I didnt trust my old clunker on a six/seven hour drive and back so I rented a car. My well intended friend brought a booklet of CDs to listen to on the drive. We quickly realized there was no CD player to be found. 😂

As if you are describing my drive Phx - San Diego 2017. Word for word.  Except we drove for 4hrd through desert with no internet signal

While CD didn't do as well as many thought or hoped, wasn't it still a commercial success? It went platinum at least once. It also generally received positive reviews by critics. Even The Killers were assholes about it topping their album of the same year.  It blew away even Kanye's album in the torrents, but not sales. Haha

I mean regardless of the material quality, it has GN'R's name on it so it's going to do pretty good regardless. Like a Disney Star Wars film. They always make money no matter how bad they are.

No. More like Epic failure in the ranks of Zwan.

Nah, i think he feels the illusion lineup is probably the most remembered. He may have thought him, slash and duff were a gang of 3 during that phase and thought in the fans eyes that he played on the illusion albums he would be well known as axl, slash, duff in the eyes of fans.

Yeah, I can see many reasons why Matt felt buthurt.

    - YCBM is one of the all time GNR outstanding songs.  YCBM would not have been the way it was if it weren't for Matt's drumming.

UYI I and II have Matt's sig all over.  Coma, Back off, Don't damn me, Locomotive, Double talking, Get in the ring, Breakdown, Dead Horse...

    - all your buddies that you played many years with in several bands go back to the band that friendship started and leave you out without telling you in the first place.

    - you see that band having Frank and him playing your parts, what else would you think than expecting a call in less than 5 minutes!? Especially if your 2 buddies for years leave an impression it is all coming together again.

    - Afd was a breakthrough, but UYI's were the peak of GNR career, Matt was there that whole era.

So yeah, I can see him being dissapointed in many ways.  Honestly, I think once they heard Slash and Duff are negotiating, deep down inside Izzy, Adler and probably Gilby thought 'sure they will not leave me hanging'.

I mean, if I was any of those guys, I would probably think of the 3 'what a retarded cheap bunch of hypocrete assholes'.

Remember, Duff was in the studio recording and releasing new Izzy songs during the time this whole negotiating process took place!  Basically, having a lot more contact with Iz than anyone else, only to reach 'fuck Iz' and not wish him a Happy Birthday (as if Iz was Frank, Fortus, Mel or any of those guys he doesn't wish HB to.  ...and we all know HB wishes have hidden meaning in GNR world... ;)   Yet, he still doesn't have problem and earning millions from the songs Iz contributed, night after night after night for the past 5 years.

Honestly, it took fuckin Corona to finally stop NITL tour.

  17. off the record...

One of the first transcripts from the book was about Matt being dick to Steve at HOF.

Honestly, I always thought that line was a shit on the band and what a bunch of hypocretes they are ie. everyone takes drugs but Adler gets a foot up his bum.

And yes, I heard many times in the past 'imagine Adler got kicked out of Guns for - drugs!? How crazy is that?'.

Another side note, I read ppl asked if Slash and Matt still talk...

    According to Slash - yes.

There was an interview few years back where they asked Slash specifically about past members and current members.

When they mentioned Frank, he replied in one sentence 'he's been there for a long time'.  I mean THAT speaks volumes.

They asked him also about Matt and Iz.

For Matt 'Yeah, we see each other. He is not involved with this tour so we don't talk much about that subject'.

Don't take me word for word but smw along those lines.  It was one of the first interviews he gave, summer 2017 I believe.
