I just checked on my 1991 German pressing as well and the "Rollin'" is gone from my copy as well! I must've listened to that record 50 times without ever noticing it, really cool! Thanks for pointing it out :)

Yes, I never noticed it before either. But I was in GNR mood yesterday, had a few beers and sang along loud. After Perfect Crime I flipped the record and suddenly was like „wait a minute“. 😄

  2. Hi there

I am just listening to my original 1991 German pressing of UYI I and noticed for the first time that Izzy‘s (?) „rollin?“ question before YATF is missing.

YATF is the first song on side B and its directly starting with the „1, 2, 3, 4“-count-in.

Can anyone confirm that this the case with all original pressings (US or EU) or do I own a misprint?

    Thanks in advance!

You don't own a copy of UYI I?  The "bitches" have been thanked in the liner notes since the album was released.

It's not.  Most likely it's a copy from Argentina 1993, either night.  Both were broadcast in soundboard and have been circulating for almost 20 years.  First time I heard GNR's Dead Flowers was from the July 16th show, played on local radio in the US back in the mid 90s.

You are getting old (as me):

    Its almost 30 years not 20 ;-)

Are you sure? I just checked the GnR merch site again and the new November Rain is listed for all the versions.

Guess the difference is only in Germany and maybe a few other places? If so it must be a logistics thing. Otherwise it’s probably just an international website error.

Yes, in case of doubt it’s just an error.

But in the German store the new NR version is definitely highlighted regarding the 2CD version, the colored vinyl version and the deluxe CD bundle only.

They release Sail Away Sweet Sister live in Paris without SCOM?!?!

    I didn’t even notice this yet 😆WTF.

This is making the patched bonus discs of the standalones even more useless. If they decide on patched bonus live CDs they just should be rare tracks (Coma, The Garden, Locomotive etc) and/or ones frim other shows than Ritz and Vegas.

I sadly share the general feeling here that the box set is mostly a missed opportunity.

    - I like the inclusion of recently remixed full shows. Tokyo is very average and the mix is horrendous, and don't get me started on Live Era so it's nice to finally get some other shows.
    - Ritz 1991 on Blu Ray is very promising - image quality should be stellar, and, provided the mastering is not too compressed, it should sound amazing.

But there are so many puzzling (to say the least) decisions and choices which appear to have been made here...
    - The Scrap(p)ed multichannel mix of the main albums : that's what I wanted, first and foremost, from these releases. I'm extremely disappointed.
    - Apparently the albums were remastered in high res, but the only way to get the higher quality is with the digital only releases. Too bad the super deluxe edition will not contain a physical format capable of storing and playing high definition content..."okay, nevermind", as Axl once said.
    - They include a Blu-Ray, but not the official music videos and their respective making of documentaries? Maybe the band members cringe a bit at the mere thought of the levitating dolphins, but excluding the videos is not in line with the idea of celebrating the album. They were included with the AFD box so it's even weirder...The Estranged video, as overblown as it might be, features some of the best looking shots of this band, at its commercial peak (Munich 1993).
    - No bonus studio material, despite the demos, rough mixes, alternate takes and obscure songs which have been in trading circles for decades. Where are the stripped down mixes Slash has been raving about for years?
    - It might sound good, but the 2022 remixed November Rain should have been included as a bonus track and not as a replacement of the original track. There's only one classic version, and it should have been here.
    - Buying the Super Deluxe Edition does not get you the whole content - you have to "double-dip" with the 2-CD versions !
    - The Super Deluxe Edition is so expensive it makes Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley look like philanthropists. I'm as big as a GNR fan as it goes, but I can't justify spending that much money for arguably so few additional content.
    - I know there has been a tradition of CD inserts/cover art misshaps in the GNR world (never forgetting you, Chinese Democracy alternate covers and "Prostitute" pixelated booklet page) but they even made a mistake with their -awful- retake on the cover art - it's tilted to the left !

    "Complaints, complaints, complaints"

I just read the exact same post at SHF ;-)

  7. In terms of Witchita I am not surprised that GNR pops up. Remember, GNR performed this song on a regular basis worldwide in front of millions of people for years. I guess this is why lots of people looked up for this this song on Spotify and the algorithm noticed it over time.

I know that the above does not explain why the Witchita/GNR thing doesn’t work in all countries but still.

The vinyl is being released a few months after the CD as I predicted.

No offense but thats not what you predicted. Your statement was:

The vinyl may be released a month or two after the digital release

Anyway, My question was not meant as an attack either but just being curious about your opinion why such a big band like GNR even needs half a year to release a single, even on CD format. I was relating to our previous correspondence above a few weeks ago by which you stated that this won’t be the case. Once again, just being curious.

If GN'R wants to press anything on vinyl, they won't have to wait in a long line. Whether it's a 7" or full album. The vinyl may be released a month or two after the digital release but it absolutely will not be years, no matter which format or content is on it.

Russ, coming back to your post above: What’s your guess on the Hard Skool CD/7“ being released no earlier than Feb/May 2022?

  10. I am just wondering if Hard Skool would have ever been released if it hadn’t leaked a few years ago as part of the locker CDs and caused the buzz afterwards.

Maybe Axl has to be thankful for the leak in some way. Because I don’t think it’s very naive to believe that because of the leak and all the hype on Hard Skool he was reminded of this song at all. At least, as result of the hype, he could be sure that a release of this song would be a sure shot. And the best thing for him: He had done his vocal work already 20 years ago.
