  1. Tiny, Russ and Maynard - you all three make excellent points.

It is odd that Axl fought so hard to keep the name.......only to turn GnR into a hobby.

What happens next really depends on what Axl is planning for his career. What we know, according to his own words, is that there was a sequel to Chinese Democracy, ready or almost ready to be released in a near (uncertain) future. We have no news on whether this is still the plan or it has changed. Total silence. But that's what we know to this point.

On the other hand, the reunion pressure is heavier than ever, at least in the media.... With Duff talking all over the place about his reconciliation, with the shows he's played and his book telling how he got his buddy Axl back into his life, the reunionists and the media are having a juicy feast. We have all now jumped on the reunion bandwagon and the only thing that can stop it is Axl coming out clean about his plans for the future.

For the time being, reunion is mainly a fantasy. A wet dream some people are using to bait clicks into their websites. As fans, we should take this with a grain of salt.

When Slash says that he is open to a reunion for the right reasons, I don't think he's lying or saying things he doesnt mean. He was asked which are the "right reasons" and he kind of struggled to answer that but from what I could grasp, he meant the right reasons would be everybody agreeing on how every single thing will be done. Slash and Duff are not neophites in the business anymore, and after going through so much legal crap with Axl, I'm pretty sure if they accept a contract or whatever, they will fight for those "right reasons" to be included in the text of the contract.

The guys are in their 50's now. They will not take shit from Axl or anyone. They will reunite to have fun and probably to just make the fans happy, but they will not compromise the things they believe in now or will unwalk the road that made them mature people now. That's why the reunion negotiation may take many years from now.

Things are slow in GNR camp.. We are still in the chapter where Axl, Duff and Izzy are back in love. Good. It is some progress. Now, the most difficult part, having Axl and Slash falling in love again.... From what Slash said, a lot of the tension has dissipated, which is good, small progress but good in the end.

How long til they see each other face to face and talk?

Who knows... maybe they did already.... maybe it takes another decade.

In the meantime, Axl could release CDII (or Stay of Execution) and put the nuGNR line up to sleep.

    Then comes reunion.

    Then comes retirement.

If you are a GN'R fan, you should master PATIENCE.. Because patience is what we'll need to be able to go through this long wait.

We have entered a new hiatus period, full of uncertainties and darkness.

One thing I'm sure of is that reunion, if ever occurs, will take a couple more years of development.

  2. So the biggest thing appears to be who do you put the band back together?

Is Axl willing to bring everybody back as equal partners with an equal say on everything that happens?

Or will he want to retain control of the GnR name and brand, and Slash/Duff/Izzy and probably matt would have to accept their role as paid members.

Imo, that would be the biggest sticking point on a reunion every happening. Control of the band.

Axl will not give up on the name EVER (I think). He went through a lot of shit to keep it so if they want to use the name, it will have to be under Axl's conditions.

If reunion ever happens and it is all just for touring, I don't see too many problems because everybody now is a solo artist and they have their own managers/business. They would tour under the GN'R name but they would negotiate their money separately, as if they were guest artists, pretty much what bands like King of Chaos do... you know?

Now if it's for making new music together, I do see the problem..... There's a whole line-up (nuGN'R) waiting in line to record with Axl. He owes Ashba, Fortus, Ferrer, etc. an album... Not like he "owes" them, but you know what I mean, right?..... so in that case, I don't have idea how they would solve it and who would manage it (Im sure Slash will not want TB for this). It's way more complicated that way and still, Axl owns the GN'R name so anything under that name is something he's still in control of.

  3. Axl did like the music by Manson and he even wrote tshirts which had Manson on it, Maybe Axl could relate himself to him?

What is your take on Charles Manson? People say he dint do the murders, but he did brainwash his "Family Members" and the killings were pretty brutal, answer this from your point of view and not just cause you are an Axl fan (Wkuk and Gunner PT) so if Axl likes him then you also like him

I really don't know much about Manson or what he did... I don't have an opinion other than if he's been in jail for so long he must have done something really bad. In this case I respect the laws of the country that put him in jail.

Saying that being fan of Axl automatically associates you or connects you to everything he likes or dislikes is a bit extreme and inaccurate. In my case, I don't like Manson in any sense but I'm more like indifferent because I really don't know his story and havent followed him in the media. Regarding the song, I feel like 'meh'... Not amazed about it or anything close to that.

Axl wanted to make a statement with all that, wearing the t-shirt and recording that song but I guess it didn't translate well to the massive audience or the mass media. It's really hard to make a statement so complicated like that and have everybody understanding that he wasn't idolizing or glorifying a serial killer. Axl put himself in a difficult place as an artist and I guess that's what makes him different. He voluntarily picked being the target of people who are eager for scandals and pass judgement on others.

If it wasn't for that interview where he explains his motivations, I wouldn't understand what he meant either....

Even Laden himself din't do the thing, but he did brainwash people in the name of religion, so If a person promotes him or wear tshirts of him, you think that is cool?

I think it's not our place to question an artist and their choices. If you don't agree with what an artist has to say the wisest thing to do is to not 'buy' their art (as in not pay them attention) and focus on the things you enjoy. It's not about being cool or uncool, it's the way someone expresses their interest on things. You can adhere or not and that's all there is to it.

  4. This is another 20 something who has not yet found out life ends at 30 and soon he will be treated just like the treatment he's giving to Axl and GNR.

Just another idiot who knows nothing about being alive in a society sick and obsessed with youth, fame, beauty and all those things that last 5 minutes. It'd be much less hypocritical if he had written only this "I wish Axl would have blown his head off just like Kurt did". Because basically that's all he's saying and that's all he wants: everybody should stop existing right when they hit 30. I really hope he takes his own advice and quit in a few years, otherwise this piece of crap he has written will not make any sense at all.

  5. When Duff did the full tour he would have been paid and everything would have been covered, but when he met Axl in London, that was just a friendly appearance, Duff said that Tommy just handed the bass to him

As for Izzy for the London show, I guess they wouldn't have paid for Izzy's flights, hotels, etc etc just for one city to just play 2 or 3 songs, most prob Izzy would be in london that time? But I guess they do pay Izzy per song whenever Izzy shows up

Yeah, that one first time with Duff i guess it went like a friendly thing. But i dont think he kept playing for free after that.

    No one would.

I don't know about Izzy... If he was there coincidentally maybe he didn't get his stuff covered... But if he was invited and had to flight to London specifically for the show, I don't think he covered his own expenses in that case.

  6. Thing is after the Rome OD coma Courtney said it wasn't a suicide attempt. Now in this movie she's saying it was because he suspected she cheated on him. So a month later he kills himself. It's hard not to draw conclusions.

    Conclusions?

    like this?

  9. Sad that in a topic about DJ that the normal instigators have to continually bring Slash up in the conversation. SMH. Slash hasn't been in GnR for what, 17 years now? Let it go people, let it go. Stop the tr*lling, leave your agenda at the door, and just talk about the actual topic. We get it. You don't need to go into Axl Defense Mode in every topic. Especially when the number 1 tactic of Axl Defense Mode is "must say something negative about Slash." It just gets tiring and bogs the forum down.

"Music isn't a competitive sport" - Duff McKagan. Remember that.

Can I save this and paste it everytime someone shits on a post about anything GNR and they start bringing up videos of the OH SO MANY TIMES AXL FUCKED UP LYRICS AND SONGS as if it was something he does in every fucking show? Can I, Apollo?

    But most importantly...

Where is my Whiskas bag you promised in the other thread? :anger:

    blood be boiling!

  10. Courtney had a huge attraction to Axl.

    This.

I can't find the video where she talks about it but I swear I watchd her and I think Axl once said she wasn't his type of woman (or something like that)

Who has more fun, a GnR crowd of Glam poseurs with their make up and leather jackets showing out or a Nirvana crowd, all leaping and launching themselves and crowd surfing.

At the risk of being offensive GnR crowds are a bunch of wankers. Go to one of their gigs and its all these Towers or London lookalikes with the haircut and their lil paunchy guts poking out of their lil 'Live at the Whiskey' t shirts and their ugly girlfriends.

Are you talking about the crowd from the 80's, 90's or 00's?

Cuz I think there's a big difference among fans from each decade and also there may be a huge difference among crowds attending in different countries around the world. I really doubt you've been at every GNR show, specially outside your own bubble.

In the 80's when they started, they were probably as you describe, glam people and shit... But in the 90's, I think their crowd decreased in age from what it was in the 80's... I remember in the 90's, GN'R fans were very young, let's say from 12 years old to 16-18 at the max... (yes, pretty much like the Bieber fans now, LOL) and in the 00's we are all grown ups, most in their 30's probably so I really doubt the GNR crowd nowadays have glam looks and bullshit like that... At least, when I attended the show most people wore normal clothes.

I'm about to engage in an incredibly corny dick measuring contest here but here goes:

Comparison of The Pistols compared to GnR in terms of street cred' is a fucking joke. The fact is GnR were all soft little middle class to lower middle class boys that were acting out some kind of rock n roll street urchin family. Axl Rose weren't on no streets, he was came from a fuckin' lower middle class suburban Indiana set up, as did Izzy. They left because they WANTED to leave and their bullshit street stuff was just lame ass teenage vandalism crap, acting out cuz their Momsies and Dadsies didn't stroke their bollocks when they were growing up. And Slash? He was positively affluent, Christ Almighty his Mum used to make costumes for David Bowie for fuckssake, and you wanna compare them to The Pistols, growing up in London in the 70s? It's a joke of a comparison.

I think the common factor among GNR members was not the social class but their family instability. They left home because the marriage of their parents was going to hell. It is the time when family stopped being strong and they slowly desintegrated. This happened in Kurt's home too.

Living in the streets for them was more like an adventure than something they were forced to do. And they were poor basically because they didn't like to work. Axl for sure hated normal jobs. None of them ever had a serious job. Becoming famous musicians were their salvation, otherwise they all be dead now, dead of overdose.

  11. Axl on Nirvana:Q : Guns N' Roses are going on tour with Metallica this summer. I heard you've been trying to get Nirvana to join you and Kurt Cobain is saying no.AXL : It's back and forth. I just think that they're having a lot of problems with who they are and who they want to be and trying to hold onto it at the same time. At least Kurt is. I'd like to be as supportive as I can, but I don't know how much he will allow support. To write a song like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" making fun of your songwriting and then have it used as an anthem has got to be a complete mindfuck. The man definitely has a mountain to rise above. I think there is a part of him that has the strength and desire to do it. I just don't know if he's able to get in touch with it. I had an advance copy of that record and it became my favorite. I would put it on repeatedly. Nirvana has helped me do my job. I think that the world has gotten really bored, really fed up and really pent up with frustration, and that comes through in Nirvana. I think a lot of people were aware of that feeling and he happened to find the song that touched it and was able to let that feeling out in people. And I'd like to do anything I can to support it. That's why we want them to play with us."

What a dumbass Kurt was... Really...

    I love you, Axl

  12. Seagullview - I shall keep that in mind.

Thank you for the positive constructive criticism.

I will try and not sound like a broken record. It's just hard when we rarely have anything new to talk about.

Hopefully Axl will give us some new music items to discuss.

    Good boy, Apollo!

I have ran out of likes so I'm quoting to give you props :)

You could always send me presents too!

I'm a poor cat living in a cardbox. You should send me some Whiskas bags!
