Judging by the lack of conversation on these Slash sections, I stand firmly with what I said previously. That this album will sell terribly and be the least recognised Slash album to date. Which is surprising considering Gibson were in charge of this for the first time. Personally I really enjoy the album but I feel this could be the end for SMKC. Can't wait to see them live as they are absolutely killer. But Slash will see that the hype for this band is dying. There's talk of a fifth album which I really hope happens and hope Slash learns from the mistakes of this album. Better production and more time and thought into his solos. Would you be surprised if they called it quits after this tour?

Actions Speak Louder Than Words is awful because of Myles's pure cringe lyrics. It's the Mind Your Manners of the new album. Honestly Slash could have been picked a random crackhead off the street and they would have written better songs than Myles. Can't believe he's wasting so many quality instrumentals on him.
Your opinion makes me laugh. Thanks

I believe out of all the records that SMKC had made, this has been the one that does get better with each listen the most. However I do think Slash will have a problem with sales for 4, which is strange as he promoted it well imo. Does anyone else feel as if this won't sell well? I know it's early days but judging by the amount of reviews on Amazon UK, we only have 30 for the CD and 77 for the vinyl. Comparing this to LTD - 738 vinyl and WOF - 1262 vinyl.

I think it's something new they're working on (or a cover I'm not familiar with). Ye, the clip before and after Kimo's dance moves (lol).
Well spotted! Sounds great. Can't believe these guys are rehearsing for their 5th album literally on the beginning of their tour of 4. You simply can't deny their work rate.

I hate it!
Aw, well I didn't say everyone was positive about it just nice to see more positive reactions. But I respect your opinion On a sidenote, what's everyone's definite favourite song from the album now? You have to pick one. It's a real battle with C'est la vie and Whatever gets you by for me but I'll go with the latter. Scary to think they have number 5 pretty much wrote now too.

There's so much VARIETY in this album man! Glad to see much more positive feedback on here too. Really can't wait to see this stuff played in person

Where would people rank the album? For me it goes Apocalyptic love > World on Fire > 4 > LTD. Love all the album's to be honest. Comparing it to the modern rock scene, it's well above most of the rest.

From ultimateclassicrock review : "The group takes the epic path just once on 4, with the album-closing "Fall Back to the Earth." The six-and-a-half-minute piece comes off like a hard-rock James Bond theme, dramatic and careening through texture changes as well as one of Slash's trademark, biting solos - shades of the Use Your Illusion era. With Guns N' Roses active again, some might reasonably ask why Slash or even Kennedy, with Alter Bridge and his solo albums, feel a need to keep other company. 4 is a convincing answer, the work of a band that continues to advance and evolve an identity that stands credibly alongside its principals' other endeavors."
I am not sure what most of you are listening to but all reviews are positive and the album is great. And some only giving it one listen? What is the point in that. I remember first time hearing Contraband and Chinese Democracy and absolutely hating it but like a lot of the times you give it time and more listens and read lyrics and it starts to click with you. I wasn't a fan of fill my world honestly but I do now really enjoy it. Loosen up guys and just keep listening

Ok after a few listens of the album I already love it. My favourites so far are whatever gets you by, actions speak louder than words and spirit love. Fall back to earth is a great journey.

Ok I genuinely thought April fools was going to be my favourite but after listening to C'est la vie...holy shit man!

Oh yeah there was no doubt it was gonna be one of my favourite SMKC songs right from when I first heard it, just the version on the album doesn't appeal to me as much as what we've heard from the Studio 60s recording in the Making Of episode. Myles just sounds better on it and the mix isn't weird.
Holy fuck just heard it. You're absolutely correct. This song is so good even on the first listen!

Mix is killing it... but be ready for tomorrow and the live stream, there ARE bangers on this album.
What's your favourite song so far?
35 minutes ago, StrangerInThisTown said:I downloaded it and listened to 1 song because I couldn't wait, April Fool. And well fuck me, the mix from the livestream DOES sound better than the album version. It sounds more streamlined to me and I like Myles vocals/tone a whole lot better.
The album version was kind of a letdown after the clips from the live performance, I can't believe it, funny. Can't wait for the livestream, but I already know that will be the definite version of the song for me, and will be the one I'll always listen to.
Will be interesting to see how much of the rest of the album this will apply to for me, it is kind of great we essentially get 2 different versions of the album at the same time and can choose.
Is it still a good song?

Quite the coincidence that yesterday I indicate that "Always on the run" is my favourite slash guest song and they end up playing it last night in Portland My question on the AMA Reddit was will we ever get the hear the full version of rocketman and setlist.fm suggests that they played that too so Portland, I am jealous. I would also like to include that it seems they didn't play any new songs from the album apart from the three singles. Iirc slash has ALWAYS played a lot of new material coming up to an album release so just found it strange as it used to get me hyped. Anyways, can't wait until they are back in Ireland!

They both sound ok, still hoping for some more WOF style bangers. Kind of wishing this album was going to be a little longer, like around 13 songs. It would be nice if they showed more of the recording process in these videos like in the WOF one, they're not showing much it's mostly them talking.
I definitely agree on wishing it was longer because we have already heard :
1 River is rising
2 Fill my world
3 Call off the dogs
4 April fools preview (making of part 2)
5 Path less followed preview (mop 2)
6 C'est la vie (blue vinyl ad)
7 Intro riff on the red vinyl ad
8 Heavy grunge song (live performance ad)
9. Wee solo bit (live performance)
That leaves one song where we haven't heard anything from yet. But even with that list I'm hyped. More so for April fools, C'est la vie and the heavy one.

April fools sounds a great blues song but the path less followed will more than likely end up the song less listened to on the album

Really enjoyed One Day Remains, Blackbird and AB III. Wasn't a fan of anything after and these two new tracks is proving yet again, not for me. But, the more rock the better I guess
