  1. If it was Officially over I probably wouldn't come here anymore.

I only open the forum once in a while to check out the latest, and if by some miracle they haven't decided to finally put out an album that will end this saga with some semi-dignity

Ok, once in a blue moon (like super blue xd) I check out discussions from the past, canter banter etc. (so rarely because I've read it all before)

But yeah, if it were Officially over that'd be it for me with this forum

  2. Normally I would say I have, but then by "shuffle accident" or not I listen to Nightrain, Paradise City or any of the greatest hits once and I love them again (briefly), honestly It's sad to see how the band operates nowadays, but the music, the history... In its heyday best band in the world, the best case scenario is to somehow release a last album to finish this great journey with semi-dignity

Where are those guys who said there was no album, nothing was going on and all those signs (Slash's recording at Axl's, Hardschool in the setlist, Duff's interviews...) didn't mean anything?

I mean, of course they were/are working on something, like Susan said. And we all know too well to still try to not get our hopes up because the release was always the problem. But I don't think it's a coincidence that she and Fernando said kinda the same thing at the same time.

Still here, after so many years of these "C O N F I R M A T I O N S" I'm now firmly in the camp of only believing a new album is coming if these happen:

    1. There is an actual release date (like a specific day) announced directly by GNR

    2. I'm holding the CD in my hand

  4. I know what is happening on a general level, but I never had it in me to go through that 100+ page thread (which now seems to be gone), so I'm not crystal clear on one thing -

Can someone tell me without any innuendos or oblique hints what is the "consensus opinion" on who is responsible for issuing these takedowns? Trolls? Someone affiliated with GNR in some way?

  5. Yeah, I would like an explanation as well. Somehow, after reading many books/articles about histories of bands etc. I've never been able to deduce from context what "master tapes" exactly are.

So a band walks to a studio, and records some songs (let's say G'n'R with the lies album, for simplicity, because they purportedly recorded the songs in 1 session). I assume the "master tapes" are created then? If yes, what is the specific, physical difference between master tapes and, well, any other tapes made during that time? I mean, surely they would make more than 1 copy of this music, right?

I understand that record companies own the master tapes, but if the significance of owning master tapes would be purely legal (like rights to use etc.), then this fire wouldn't be >that< much of a deal, since it would be just a problem of some legaleese. If we factor in the historical component (that these were the ACTUAL TAPES made during the ACTUAL RECORDING SESSION OF Lies) it becomes more serious, but not that it would be called  “the biggest disaster in the history of the music business.”

Because of that, I assume that master tapes are also significant because of what they physically contain. If so, what is the specific distinction between a "master tape" and a "xyz tape"? I remember hearing once that master tapes have all the separate tracks on them (like just Slash's guitar from Patience, for example). If this is true, and no other xyz tapes have them, and this is the reason why they are so important, can't they just get Slash and Mike Clink back to a studio and re-record it in 99~% the same way? The challenge with recording is not knowing what the final version will actually be, but when the songs are finished, surely Slash could "play it exactly the way it's recorded on the album" with 98-99~% accuracy.

Don't get me wrong, I obviously know that I just don't understand all the particulars and this is a devastating loss for music history, but if someone could clear it up for me it would be much appreciated.

  6. Yep, after yesterday's show i was on the verge of making a defeatist comment - there were a lot of "pure mickey" moments, on the forum a lot of people were kinda wishfully praising axl's voice "he sounds great, and hater can fuck off!!! Right guise?" and so on and so forth... But after the second night i'm really glad i didn't - because holy shit, how is it even possible to improve so much OVERNIGHT? His voice was truly on fucking point, even the extremely rare mickey moment during high notes was different from the previous night because there was this strength behind it... Holy motherfucker i really hope they will come to Poland, will pay anything to see them.

And, of course, GOD BLESS FEDE

  7. K, so i've seen Slash in Krakó yesterday. I promised you guys photos and vids, but i didn't make any - was too busy crowdsurfing, pogo-dancing, n'shit :P And i see you've found some already. So - the show was incredible. I was very close to the stage, so i'm not sure how packed was the arena - i only turned back once, and all i've seen was a sea of heads, so my guess is preetty packed ;P So first thing first - the Support. Monster Truck is the perfect support for Slash - because they kick ass enough for the crowd to get warmed up, but not enough to "endanger" Slash's position as the headliner. Both Monster and Slash sounded great. The mix was perfect, nobody was too loud or too quiet, you could hear everything just fine, even Frank's guitar. Myles was on the absolute top of his game - His singing was technically perfect (but he screwed up the lyrics to some songs :F) What shocked me the most though, was the fact that Myles was actually trying to do something other than the "Myles Hand Gesture" move on the stage. He moved around, leaned to the crowd, talked to us, etc. One time, there was something happening just in front of the stage - sth like the second and third row of people were pushing the first to the barriers, hurting them. Then, wen the song finished, Myles said something like "Ok, so heres the deal - you guys are having fun, and we have fun, but back off of the stage- there are people getting hurt in the front, and we just wanna have fun, not to end up in an ambulance, right"? And i swear to god, the way he said it, was so "Axl-like" the beginning "Heres the deal" and the part about "yours and ours fun" that i actually half-expected him to jump off the stage during rocket queen  I might have been not thinking straight though, due to excessive amounts of fun and R'N'F'R. The atmosphere was great too, most of the people acutally knew the lyrics, so you could hear somebody other than me screaming their heads off \.../---___---\.../
