I'm sure he was aware of the risks. Without risks there are no rewards. I don't think he gave a shit because as he says "nice boys don't play rock n roll. I'm not a nice boy and I never was." He was living the dream. He gives it his all every single show. Rock, especially back then, was all about living in the moment and who cares what happens. Remember...He leads a reckless life ...hes reckless and feelin' no pain. You know he's got no need to control. Livin with the danger hes always on the edge now. With million dollar visions that he holds. Livin' like this never ever tore his throat apart.

What could spark the hunger again?
Nothing I think. The guy has nothing left to prove. He is cemented as one of the best front men in history. He is also 60. Guns N' Roses have broken records their entire career. Not in this lifetime tour is like number 3 on the highest grossing tours of all time or something like that. They accomplished this 30 years after their debut. They were selling out stadiums at a time when only beyonce and taylor swift were doing that. An 80s band selling more tickets than modern day superstars. Its insane.

Nirvana had such a brief run as an active band that it's hard to really place them that high. Kurt Cobain's death really elevated them to a legendary status.
By late 1993-early 94 mainstream interest was waning a bit with Nirvana. Part of it was by design with In Utero which didn't hit nearly as big as Nevermind. Pearl Jam was arguably more popular than Nirvana by that point.
That is so true. If Nirvana fans were more honest with themselves I think they would realize is that one of the only reasons nirvana became so huge for this long was because of the death. Imagine a new nirvana album that comes out in 1998. It would have been garbage. That band is a perfect example of right place right time. I'm gunna get flamed for this comment lmfao =]

Unfortunately I think while GNR could have been on that tier possibly and potentially, they cannot compete with any of those bands in terms of the same league of legendary. GNR are a huge band still, but compared to Sabbath, Queen, and Zeppelin they are akin to a small theatre band IMO
Especially Zeppelin, don't get me wrong I love GNR to death but Led Zeppelin is just on another level of legendary completely and I think Axl and Slash themselves would admit such
No artist is gunna say they are better then the bands they are influenced by and look up to. Without those bands there would be no GNR. They are a legendary rock band no question.

I mean at the time their peers were every other band on the strip. Now they have solidified themselves as legends. Now their peers are Queen, Aeromsith, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and so on.

This guy is for sure awesome. Alot of parts sound just like Axl. But he doesnt have the pure vocal power Axl has.

I've stated this before in other threads. My opinion is that Axl should have explored different genres as a solo artist and not under the GNR name. When you think about GNR, you associate them with a hard rock sound. Right from the get go, they were known as the next Rolling Stones/Aerosmith type of band. It's ok to make one or two songs from another genre. However, changing the sound of the band to try to fit with the times isn't good. You dilute your brand and you don't play to your strengths. GNR should have gone on hiatus while other members of the band did their own thing for awhile.
I'm completely agree with that sentiment. Although I don't think they would dilute their brand. They would have had fans from every single Era. Just like how I would go get a beer during scom someone else would go piss while oh my God played. I just really hate how much material is sitting in some vault somewhere lol

I was listening to Oh My God again and I couldn't help but think about the direction of the band Axl had in mind. I love all eras of GNR and I do really like oh my God. When I stop and think about the content we could have gotten from Axl in the late 90s still in his prime boggles my mind. I know the turn to more industrial rock sound isn't everyone's cup of tea but I am I fan of almost every genre of music. Not just hard rock. So the song is such an interesting look into where Axl was musically at the time. The dude never stopped evolving. Estranged sounds nothing like anything from appetite and I say thank God. Axl started to get into NIN and other electronic bands in the 90s and the band was changing with he times. I don't see this as a bad thing at all. I would love to look back and be like oh shit remember 80s GNR... Remember late 90s GNR when Axl was screaming on industrial tracks... Remember in 2006 when he caught his second wind and started blowing everyone's mind again? Bands having different eras is a good thing. I'm sad we might never hear what he was working on in all these different state of minds he was in. His creativity really is a blessing and curse.

Because Dexter is a member of the forums. Lol
He doesn't have to be present. We can all privately get the password individually. Also there is nothing illegal about listening with friends.

Why is there all this talk of being sued and copyright issues. All we need to do is have a private listening party. Private Discord for us members. We all log in and listen together.

I was there. It was truly amazing. Seeing Dead Horse live was something else. Even though not hearing axl screech along with it was strange. Dust N Bones is a fuckin banger live as well. Overall was an amazing show.
