  1. After listening to the songs a good few times I’m really enjoying them. Just my thoughts on them.
The General- I’m not a CD era fan and straight away this song is that era put into 4 mins. But for me this song hits differently. I like it when artists add a darker and heavier side to the odd song and that’s what I love about The General. It seems to work really well Axl’s vocals , the orchestral parts plus Slash’s guitar I just can’t get the song out of ma head though I would say it was the grower of the 2 songs. On the lead side of things I would say that’s definitely all Slash.

Monsters - simply a monster of a song and loved it more out of the 2 songs. The second half of the songs is just killer with the outro solo. And on the lead debate on that I think it’s Slash then Fortus on the last bit. If GNR ever do make a new album from scratch then this is what I think it will be more like a more VR with Axl sound and Fortus picking up some leads here and there.
If this is the one song split into two parts then I think music wise The General is the sound of the CD era ending and Monsters is the transitioning into the sound of this line up.

  2. Fuck going by the crowd experiences I must’ve been in the jungle 😂

I was at the front slightly to the left of centre at the GA and I seen paramedics for someone to the left of me and also to a woman to right and I seen either 4 or 5 people getting taken away by security with the last person still singing at the top of his voice to whatever was playing 😂

Idk for me Axl really struggles with hardskool live so I am not a fan of it in the set.

    Nails absurd live though.

Yeah you can hear Axl struggling to sing it in bits but like Absurd I haven’t bothered with the studio version as much but I thought it’s better as a live song. I can’t believe I’m saying but I now prefer Absurd over Hardskool when it’s live.

I had kinda hoped yeah. Haha.

That being said, they played 8 tracks from the GN'R back catalogue that I had never saw them play live before: Bad Obsession, Pretty Tied Up, Hard Skool, Absurd, Down on the Farm, Reckless Life, Shadow of Your Love, Anything Goes.

Pretty Tied Up is one of my favourite UYI tracks so to see that livr was amazing. Also amazing to hear Hard Skool and Absurd too.

Plus they did Slither and the covers of AC/DC - Walk All Over You and Glenn Campbell - Wichita Lineman. None of which I'd seen before.

This was my first time seeing GNR so it was just amazing to hear them all getting played live. Love PTU as well. PTU , Bad Obsession Reckless life , SOYL and Anything Goes were the ones I was hoping they’d play. Locomotive was the only other song I’d have like to have seen. It was a good night.

Praying to the weather gods that the worst of it is over before doors open so it doesn’t completely churn the ground up. A bit annoying though as I’ve had to pack walking boots in case of a Download/Donington mud bath.

Apparently the rain is to ease off around the time GNR hit the stage 🙏. But this is Scotland after all so I’ll pack some swimming gear 😂

  6. I’ve seen this pile of shit review pop up in my feeds on Facebook this morning a few times by different media outlets and while I only read a handful of comments each time every one mentioned how good they thought GNR were and Axl still got a lot of praise for still bringing it at 61 years old. That was encouraging to read more than the click bait review. At the end of the day GNR have never been everyone’s cup of tea.

  7. Yesterday was just a great reminder how good the band can still be. I just loved spending the day watching Glastonbury and building up to GNR playing.

I didn’t get into GNR till around a few months or so after Paris 92 but to me this was like this this line ups version of that. This was the chance to show a huge watching audience with people watching in their homes the chance to show what they’re all about.
I’m glad they went out and showed everyone while it’s not 30 years ago they are still a great band and can still bring it to the stage. Can’t wait till Tuesday in Glasgow yesterday just set the mood for it:headbang:

  8. Been keeping an eye on the thread the past couple of days and it’s clear something seems to be coming even though I’m still on skeptial side. But for me the reason I think we could get an album/ EP is because of Slash’s lack of activity with SMKC in the near future. Slash always likes writing recording and playing new songs with SMKC and the only reason I’ve ever thought that would stop for a while would be if there’s a new GNR album to tour to.

Always bellehouston they could do it there I hope it will be soon but I’m guessing next year would have been nice if it was this year European tour finishes soon then there off to South American so would need to be when the European tour finishes which doesn’t give them much time.

I suppose bellahouston was where the first reschedule was so it could be a possibility. I don’t know what is happening with the RHCP show but maybe have them and GNR over the 2 nights ?

If Ibrox could then I’m all for it - as @Gold top 78 says timewise it might be a nightmare with the season starting.

Yup. Murrayfield was my option as size-wise it’s the biggest venue (Hampden is pish for concerts IMO) and it’s not far to travel although I’d go anywhere in Scotland to see them TBF. 🤣

Yep it’s getting that way anywhere will do. 🤣. If there is to be a reschedule this month then surely we’ll hear soon to give people time to make travel arrangements 🤞
