  1. Just thought i would go back and quote this. This was a video of Evader's interpretation that has since been removed (seemingly voluntarily, though not discounting the possibility that this video got flagged before that removal). It seems that The General videos have been consistently voluntarily removed and/or forcefully taken down from Soundcloud, YouTube, etc. We did see similar movement prior to Perhaps being released.
  2. Are you sure you didn't just listen to the leaked 2 min phone recording that has been going around for years? That one is hard to make much out of, except for the orchestral arrangement, some screaming and a guitar solo.
  3. The phone recording leak is 2 mins, and the orchestra arrangement played before the shows back in the day was much longer. 3 and a half mins is hard to believe.
  4. Yes, but after the Perhaps situation, they likely won't update these links until the song is ready or out of the gate, lol. In fact, with Perhaps, their Linkfire link only went live hours before they published the song (not counting the initial URL redirect with the Perhaps countdown).
  5. These guys were the ones who thought they fooled everybody with their 'The General' hoax a few months ago, even though no one fell for it... It's best not to believe anything associated with that channel at face value, even comments made on their videos, lol.
  6. I think Axl generally tends to sound better on night 2 than 1 when performing back to back dates.
  7. With the Universal Store email, they are likely only able to confirm or deny products that are actually listed. Since the vinyl is the only product listed with The General on it, of course their answer will be 'vinyl exclusive right now'. They won't be making any announcements before the band does on other releases (be they CD, cassette, digital, etc) because those products don't exist publicly yet and they are not authorised to make those sorts of statements. Even then, customer service would know much less than the actual distribution and promotions team.
  8. Not to mention Slash literally said he and Duff fixed up a few songs and that the upcoming ones were more epic/complex than HS/Absurd. I don't know how anyone can seriously consider The General to be an instrumental or otherwise untouched by Slash and Duff.
  9. I just think the Universal team assigned to GNR doesn't have their shit together on messaging. They pushed Perhaps out there with a press release and product description that they had to change after the fact. It wouldn't be surprising if they forgot to get all their international branches in line on the same messaging.
  10. For the following reasons, I still think a digital release is likely: - The General is one of the most requested CD-era cuts and the band knows this. - It will end up online anyway. - Due to the above two points, it would make sense to give it a proper release ala Perhaps and earn a bit of promotion/revenue. - Promotion of the Perhaps vinyl is almost universally consistent with no mention of The General being exclusive. The only site out of step is Universal Italy. - Even when English sites used the same copy as the Italian site (e.g. first joint composition in decades....) they did not include the same part re The General's exclusivity. - GNR has a recent history of indicating when songs are physically exclusive. Again, on most sites, this is not mentioned for The General. - Fernando also has a recent history of confirming when songs are physically exclusive. He told people on Reddit that the live tracks on the HS EP were exclusive, but he wasn't so forthcoming with The General. - The General orchestral arrangements are being removed from YouTube and SoundCloud, much like what happened with Perhaps prior to its digital release. - The General is on the setlist, meaning the band may play it live. This would really only make sense if they were planning a wide-scale release. At the end of the day, who can really blame fans for being pissed when it comes to The General potentially being vinyl-exclusive? This is a song many have waited on for close to 20 years and not everybody has a record player.
  11. If The General were truly exclusive to physical media, then it would have been stated clearly on the product description of the 7" vinyl across every Universal website + GNR's website and other media retailers. This was the case for the live tracks on the Hard Skool vinyl. That the Italian site is the only one to include the claim of The General's exclusivity means it is out of step with everywhere else.
  12. Just thinking back to Mayhue's comments that GN'R has recorded a bunch of stuff and that a lot of it sounds like AFD, I actually think it would be really cool if they touched up some of the old Arkeen collaborations for proper releases. I want Bring it Back Home goddamnit.
