Wow. That's a bland video. Just like the song, so they're comparative in that sense at least.

I tried to get into when it came out. It's an ok album. Some really good parts, like the verses in "catcher in the rye", but there's not a song on it that I think holds up from start to finish.

Thumbs up for "monsters". Like the "britpoppy" chorus and the "zeppelinesque" use of middle eastern scales in segways.

Is Slash playing on it, though? The outro solo doesn't sound like him, with the "runs" between the longer notes. With the other lead guitar-parts it's hard to tell.

It sounds like what it is; a CD outtake. Not feeling it. If others are; good for them/you.

The short break before the first part of the guitar solo in "my michelle", just after Axl sings "'till then you better". So effective.

Great fucking song! They should do a cover of that one rather than the snooze-fest "wichita lineman/linemen/linesmen" (can't be bothered to look up the proper title).

I've always been really impressed by this. Such an amazing display of Axl's voice range.

I can't see the point of the discussion. Everybody seems to have made up their minds and no argument, no matter how strong and based on facts it is, is going to change that. 

Just pointing it out. If you're enjoying the discussion anyways, by all means continue. 

A reminder of my (withstanding) recommendation to dontdamnme2015 though; media is almost always predicting the worst possible scenario (fear makes people consume more news, thus generating revenue for the media companies or any "content pusher"). I think it would benefit your state of mind to be cautious of the "end of the world"-narrative and try to find more nuanced news outlets or just to abstain from the fear mongerers wholly. 

(Obviously, I'm not trying to tell you what to do, just a friendly recommendation :))

Voted adler just to get some nuance in here.

Q1: I have a faint memory of seeing the logo and knowing that the dangerous (and scary) older kids were fans of gnr from when I was like 6-7 years old. Didn't know much about them though until...

Q2: I saw the video to PC at age 15. Bought AFD. Loved everything about them. Knew all their albums by heart 6 months later.

Q3: the aggressive and catchy tunes, the almost cartoony quality of their characters. Their nihilistic approach to life.

Hmmm... Looks like Estranged is heading for the gold. Love both songs but I consider WTTJ (and PC) to be GNR's theme song(s), why I disagree with the result. (Lock her up, fake news etc.)

I know that both slash and duff claim that they've written the verse (main) riff in wttj (with some solid evidence that duff wrote it since one of his pre-gnr band had the same riff in one of their songs). Other than that, as far as I know we don't know who wrote what (besides that Axl wrote the lyrics), except that slash also claim that he wrote the intro?
