So I’ve been on a SMKC kick tonight for the first time in years and it got me wondering..with GNR currently touring and releasing a few new songs and SMKC releasing music soon and likely touring…who do you honestly think is a better band musically in recent years? Not history or even necessarily songs in and of themselves..but say since 2016 to now who is a more impressive band live?

Martin, are you practicing material for open Mike night?

I don’t know if this has been talked about, but…

Listening to shows from 1986-87, demos from ’86 and of course Appetite, you can tell that Axl’s voice was young and “tender”, without much scraping and so on. Even on the Marquee show (June ’87) and Whiskey (August ’87, WTTJ video recording), his voice remains the same as on the album, demos, or LA club shows; But then at the Ritz show (October ’87) his voice is rougher, scrapedier, and less high-pitched (but still very good). Then in ’88 he kept singing that new way, and all the shows are incredible in terms of his voice (except Ritz ’88, which doesn’t sound very good even if it’s epic.)

Does anyone know why his voice changed in such a short time? It seems to me something very curious, because except for the acoustic show in October ’88, his voice never sounded like it did in 1983-87.

I assume he was still exploring his range and expression as an artist.

Looks like Josh is a touring member for Pearl Jam now. I believe he also plays on Eddie Vedder's new solo record. Kinda cool of them to embrace him like that after the Peppers canned him.

Wow. That’s unexpected but awesome, I love Josh and PJ.

Yes other bands would kill to have such monster albums in their discography. Only in GNR land is something like that ignored. I guess GNR is so huge they don't have to do anything, but it still seems awful to do absolutely nothing. As far as I'm concerned, GNRs legacy is AFD and the UYIs, the rest is for the dedicated.

Lies, too. Patience is a huge song.

Do what you want, just please don't associate my website with you. This isn't a case of you using a vague phrase or generic word like "screwdriver" or "Franklin" as your username - If you do a google search for Lithorati, there's less then two pages of results and they all have something to do with my website.

If you sell something using that username, it's not unreasonable for people to think it's me - which is unfair on me since I have nothing to do with it.

You knew it was me. You could have reached out to me. Your response was over the top. And after the warpig thing I still went out of my way to get you a Dallas litho. At the very least you could have heard me out. PM me and I’ll give you my info and you can change it. I don’t know how to.

Thats shady AF. Who ever did that should change it immediately.

Upon further reflection, and Riki’s insatiable desire to lord over the GNR lithos as if it’s his own personal fiefdom I’ve decided to change it. WarpigLithor@ti. Has a nice ring to it. It’s my sincere hope that this change in eBay handle will prevent any confusion for the consumer.

It's the podcast Marc Canter has launched:

Yes, it'd be good if Marc Canter and Jason Porath did a Q&A about it here. I've noticed that @recklessroadhas visited the forum recently.

The production quality is very good and Marc will need support to cover the cost of it, but I wonder if the goal of subscribers is realistic. It seems that there may be a bit of GnR history fatigue in the hardcore fanbase right now (or at least not the level of interest that would prompt a good number of fans to pay a monthly subscription), as most fans' interest is in new music.

Marc over played his hand awhile back during the release of Reckless road. He should have either released it in 1990 or during the locked and loaded set.

The tempo improvements this tour can't be overstated.. Too bad we didn't have Axl's 2016 voice with these tempos!!

Can you explain to a lay person What a Drop in tempo does for the songs? I noticed Jungle was  slower. I’ve never seen Axl so smile much as I did last night.

Regarding the Raiders photo that Axl just tweeted:

    1) Was Axl a Kenny “The Snake” Stabler fan growing up? He wore #12 during the 1970’s so that would make sense.

    2) Anyone else notice that the locker states Duff’s # is also 12 yet his jersey is #1

I have to assume this was a huge mistake by whomever coordinated the jerseys. Duff is 12 because of Seattle’s 12th man thing. 12 was even on a Bass he was gifted recently. Somebody fucked up with the information they were given.

In reference that that insane quality coffee table book (more like museum quality reference piece) that reproduces every single litho of the NITL, as well as info about the art, the artists, the inspirations; I feel it's an injustice to call it a "fanmade" item.

To me that implies someone googling low-rez pics and slapping them together in a cheap DIY fashion.

At the same time, despite the level and care that went into this one of a kind product, it can't legally be called an "official" product either.  Neither the band nor the management has ever publicly endorsed this.

But it seems like a real disservice to just call this thing "fan-made."  I think it skirts the lines between fan made and "unofficial."  These are not just images grabbed off youtube.  Every single lithograph from the tour has been painstakingly physically scanned at high rez for the best possible fidelity in this book, as well as hundreds of items of history and trivia along the way.

The best part of this book is that exists at all, and it's gorgeous and HUGE and imposing, and has one hell of a presence when you see it.

The sad thing is, unless someone has a change of heart as far as management or the people in charge of merch, we're never gonna have a chance to own one.  (And trust me, to own it properly, the way it's meant to be seen, it's not just a cheap paperback you could order off amazon!)

It's an absolutely stunning labor of love from our "amaninJapan" and something we used to dream about several years ago.   Well, he went ahead and made that a reality, just to prove it could be done and done RIGHT!!   Maybe someday the rest of us might get a chance.....here's hoping!

The book is stunning. The art direction and materials utilized are peerless.

Well Beta said that Absurd will be on the cd/album so I think that answers that question right there. Also Axl/Slash/Duff are noticeably happier and excited on stage (which can be attributed to several things) but I think that could be because of imminent new music as well.

    When did she say this?
