Tobias co-wrote multiple songs released under the GN'R name, two in the classic era and several on CD. He co-wrote one of my favorite GN'R songs, OMG, as well.

He also didn't "record over" Slash on Sympathy for the Devil. Slash's solo is still there. All Paul did was add a call and response bit to the solo, and did some lead overdubs. None of Slash's work was wiped.

Key word here, overdubs. All without Slash's consent. It wouldn't go down well for me if I was the best lead guitarist in the world & my supposed brother (Axl) added parts without my knowledge. Kind of like letting Matt LeBlanc drive Hamilton's Mercedes F1 in a race.

  2. Steve Adler Calls On Axlâs Manager To Get Original Lineup Back Together

Guns N’ Roses original drummer Steven Adler joined Triple M Melbourne’s The Hot Breakfast ahead of his ‘Adlers Appetite Australian Tour’
    When asked if he will join the band again, Adler said it’s up to Axl Rose’s manager Fernando Lebeis, stating;

“That’s the one guy that can make this happen”.

“I know you’re going to do the right thing”.

Cheekily, Adler asked fans to contact Lebeis online, encouraging him to have him back in the band.
    Wanna make this happen?

Yes, they were.... not sure if for SFTD but Slash spoke of him in a disgusted way. He was like "ew, that guy, he sucks....". There's a video of it,, lol.

lol, never knew there was a video. He never got Slash the pepperoni & miller he wanted.

LOL, I don't know if I expressed myself well, but I meant that knowing the way Axl was (is) towards friends, especially people who he brought from Indiana to be around him, I wouldn't be surprised if Axl decided to give royalties to Tobias, even if all Tobias did while in the rehearsing room, was cutting the pizza and opening the beer cans

It is also a mystery to me how on earth Slash agreed to have this Tobias thing released for the box set. Maybe it was for the same reasons he accepted to record SFTD before: to have the band going, doing something, moving forward....... It kinda contradicts his feelings for Tobias from 1995. Who knows...

Looking at the recordings for the box set, I guess Shadow is the only real single option that is not an alternate version of a song from AFD. Other option I guess was Back off (also Tobias lol) but not sure how well that would go down on radio. Re: SFTD, Tobias parts were added later which makes me wonder if he & Slash were ever in the same room. Gilby was gone & like you said, Tobias was cutting Pizza's so was maybe on hand at the time. It will remain as the worst decision to this day in the GNR camp to re-record over the best lead guitarist in the world.

With the way Axl is, who really knows how much he "wrote" for that song.

Agree, 'wrote' is the question. Izzy was clearly the prominent lyricist in, well basically all GNR outside of CD so Tobias, maybe he & izzy had a riff idea during Hollywood Rose, who knows. All I know is Slash would never have worked with him especially on guitar riffs so I am surprised it has resurfaced this year as an official single.

Paul Tobias, Rob Gardner, Chris Weber, Tracii Guns, Ole Beich: all irrelevant guys some people insist on attaching to Guns N' Roses name, fame & success, for the weirdest reasons.

Don't care for him either but no so irrelevant when Shadow has just been released & he is credited. Hard to ignore him but he seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Sympathy solo will forever piss me off.

So, if he is saying what is reality, then he's talking shit?   Now, I'm not saying that is the case, but you are accusing him of talking shit, when he may not be.   He may be 100% on point.  Pretty sure he is closer to the situation than you are.

I think this morning Steven just again did confirm the hurdle & it is TB. Then again I commend TB for even managing what is happening at the moment, I feel there are great things to come & with the re-release of AFD next month it can only be positive for the original 5.

Not that we have not imagined these things before but it is a confirmation of what many fans think about TB. They really handle Axl's life, for good and for bad :shrugs:

Seems that way but a good note I suppose is that it looks like that TB gets along well with Slash/Duff & in this case Adler. It is possibly the best management GNR has had since Goldstein.

Crash Diet is missing... great great song so BIG disappoinment for me that the song isn't on the box set.

There is a few which also were AFD sessions however may have also been recorded during UYI sessions with Bring it Back Home, Sentimental Movie, Too Much Too Soon, Just Another Sunday. Honestly don't think any of these worth the cut??

Cornshucker was surely recorded as a joke but can't see that appealing to too many female fans hence the exclusion.

I think in the future there will be a definite remaster of the Illusion albums where we will see Ain't Goin' Down w/lyrics as well as maybe Just Another Sunday.

I feel so sorry for people who are trashing the box cause it doesnt have new songs or because Izzy and Adler arent in the band.

Just dont buy it dammit. If you dont like it, just dont buy it. We all knew it would be an AFD boxset, theres zero sense in putting anything else on it.

As for Izzy and Steven, Slash did the skull drawings, didnt he? And it became an iconic artwork, the skulls are part of the album artwork and they can do whatever they want with it.

Slash could come in public and say the Izzy skull is actually Fortus and Adler is Frank before getting bald and he has all the right in the world to do so.

lol, would love to have seen Frank with golden flowing locks in the 80's

Yep I'm the same as you, havent been on in a day. This thread was at 22 pages then I log in and it's 108 pages! I can't be arsed trolling through them all so if someone could give us a basic recap of:

Whats in the box (rough explanation is fine)

    whats the price?

    When is it available?

Whats the deal with the truck?

I logged on to the GNR.fm site to listen to SOYL and got nothing!!! No sound!

Everything is in the box relating to AFD including 49 unreleased tracks (not necessarily unheard music, just unreleased). Google: Locked & Loaded Unpacked.

Prices rumoured at $650USD for the whole lot or $180USD for a stripped version

    June 29th

    Don't know
