I wonder if we are going to get that Izzy interview that Art Tavana talked about on the podcast? He said it would be out in about a month and that was about a month ago...

I don't really have many young Duff pics but here are some of my favorite young Izzy pics:

Anyone have good quality, big size of young Duff N' Izzy pics?
There aren't many of them. Only in group situations or when they were passing each other onstage. Interestingly most Duff and Izzy pics are from 1995 on. My theory is that Duff and Izzy, as addicts, were very different. Duff, even drunk, seemed like kind of a good-time boy (booze and blowjobs!) who stayed generally responsible and craved a normal life. I think Izzy did some dark shit. He was a drug dealer, which is miles away from being a drug user, and openly admitted to pimping girls. They sobered into similar individuals and became friends. I think that part of Izzy's reluctance to engage is that he doesn't want to be confronted by the past. People like Kevin Lawrence still seem to have negative feelings about Izzy in particular and Marc Canter said that he lost Izzy's interview when he told him that Dezi was involved. I don't balme him, really. Anyway:

I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution
I really enjoyed it. Lots of gossip on all the bands and musical artists of the era. There was a chapter on the worst video that ever aired on MTV- Billy Squier's Rock me Tonight that stands out as being sad and hilarious.
And I gotta stick up for the man here- I think Izzy aged the most graciously out of the AFD five. He didn't botox out and he is very thin which has a tendency to make your face look older. Even if he was onstage he wouldn't be attempting to rock a tank top that showed his man boobs or a tshirt with a woman in a trash can. His "prosperous mobster" look from 2012 was a great one- the button down, vest and hat all still called back to his younger stage image, but in an adult way. Honestly I think they all look pretty good, considering. But here's a palate cleanser:

I don't know, maybe I have my stories mixed up (most def) but I think Izzy's face was fucked up before Vince punched him because his dad's dog bit him.
So many november rain babies, I need a calendar.
Edit to add: Angela dumped Izzy for Andy McCoy so she can kiss my ass.
I think the break up was probably mutual. Angela was a druggie and Izzy was desperately trying to stay sober at the time- the arrest on the plane had already happened. She's a piece of work though. And apparenty wasted no time- 0:50

Ha! I have that book- it's actually a very good book on the era. It also talks about the Patience video and how Izzy was so messed up on coke that it was dripping out of his nose but he couldn't feel it because his face was numb. And the dog was the director's dog- Angela was there.

Cool song! It's Izzy, true to form. Walk, run, roll, move, ride, drive and above all else always look forward never ever back. His philosophy- just underscored by the fact that looking back didn't go so well for him this year.

All of this is why I never got the "Izzy doesn't have very good stage presence" thing. If you look at videos of him from 2006 and 2012 he is doing the same thing Slash and Duff are doing now. Stand and play. Walk from point A to point B. Stand and play. Smile at crowd. Stand and play.
I loved the show I went to but I can also acknowledge that I was seeing a giant corporate rock show. Nothing more nothing less. I expected it to be a little cold and impersonal so I wasn't dissapointed.

Jokes aside, I wonder why he doesn't just do another q&a with Will like he used to. At least it would be drama free and pretty painless.
I don't know that it's Izzy's goal to remain drama free anymore. His choice of song covers, his tweets about the GNR cover band and John Oliver's video about how people that participate in April Fools day shit being dicks (on the day of the secret Troubadour show), his song about money with Matt Sorum. Even his post Axl/Duff interview tweet (Bullshit!). They were deliberate shots- fired publicly. Unfortunately the GNR thing is such a huge machine now that it will take more than some deleted Tweets to make an impact. The dogs bark but the caravan marches on, so to speak.
Of course it's Izzy it wouldn't surprise me if he backed out of an interview at the last minute or made sure that it was soley about his new material.

It's interesting to read the comments on all the sites talking about the divorce. I'm not a Perla fan, but what did anyone expect? Perla doesn't strike me as somebody who has ever pretended to be someone she's not. And she was a groupie for chrissake. Slash married her (twice!), had two chidren with her, even got her involved in his business. And no pre-nup? Jesus. So many terrible decisions- on Slash's part. Perla's decisions have worked out very well for her.
To a certain extent, these rockstars just ask for this shit. Well educated women with their own careers (and money) are out there, but they don't have the allure of a b level lingerie model/dancer/stripper/video vixen. And that's fine. But lingerie model/dancer/stripper/video vixens have early expiration dates. They gotta make money somehow after age 30. These guys need to be self aware enough to know that they are taking part in a transaction. That ballet dancer that Mick Jagger just knocked up? Just completed her transaction. Did Mick really think that she was hungry for some 70 year old?
All of this is unsavory and unromantic and even a little gross for sure but it blows my mind that anyone would be surprised by it.

She was so beautiful in the cover of all that magazines that she and her daughters post by time to time. Mae looks a lot like her.
I'm not a big fan of all the botox she has and let alone the super big boobs, I think it make her look fake and she's a natural beauty, she didn't need any of that. But her body, her rules and I really, really like her. She seems very down to earth and she's nice with fans and of course a big support to Duff. I think they really love each other, it's cute.I find it interesting that Susan chose to go with this particular aesthetic. She's ten years younger than Duff and really more of a 90's girl then an 80's girl. But she chose to go with that bleached hair, big fake boobed 80's video vixen thing- even though it essentially put her high fashion days behind her. It's a Playboy look, not a Vogue look. It also, unfortunately, is not an aesthetic that ages very well. But Duff seems to enjoy it so...

I enjoyed the Izzy article but that manicurist is so weird. I can't believe she was in the article. He seemed "distant" and "wasn't himself?" What did she expect? She's just some lady he slept with once 30 years ago on a tour bus. He was probably at the Hard Rock with his family and this chick walks up to him and wanted him to... what exactly? Throw his arms around her? Invite her to his room for another romp?
Has no one in her life pointed out that she is a stranger to him now and was a faceless one of many back then? "Wasn't himself?" Are you kidding?

It's pretty clear that something went down between Izzy and Jimmy Ashurst. Izzy broke that band up very abruptly and Jimmy said this about Izzy in an interview:
"I just don't know if the issues that Izzy and I have with each other will ever be resolved. In order to make up with someone you have to first be able to speak to them, and to do that you need to first know where the hell they are. Guys like that can be hard to deal with. They just don't need you. He can go on and do whatever it is he's doing just fine without me, and he doesn't seem to realize that sometimes a certain group of individuals, when working together, can create something that's irreplaceable...that can't be done on your own. He's got the money, and obviously doesn't see what so many people who love him do, and there's nobody in his life who will risk their friendship with him by telling him the truth. He's always been surrounded by "yes" people, and whenever someone pops up with a dissenting opinion, he can just disappear and replace that person with someone who's more agreeable."
Kind of ironic considering what's happening with the reunion. It's a shame though, the Ju Ju Hounds were awesome.

I thought the most interesting part of the podcast was learning that we are going to get an interview from Izzy next month. So we might learn a little more about the financial negotiations. Maybe. Any guessses as to who the lucky publication is? Rolling Stone seems the obvious choice (Andy Greene?) but it's Izzy so it might just as well be some random journalist from Norway or something.

Izzys Twelete account.
Ha! Oh, Izzy.
So I have been reading Pamela Des Barres' book and it made me wonder- where are all the groupies of the 80's? I remember back in the early 2000's when Groupie Central was a thing and even then it was dominated by the 70's girls- Des Barres and the GTO's and crazy Bebe Buell. A few voices came out to talk about the bands of the 80s- but it was rare. It was Zep and Aerosmith and the like and then it skipped ahead to the terrible bands of the late 90's. I just think it's strange. The 70's groupies seemed to consider themselves muses for the musicians and the 90's groupies were just in it for the, um, Rock and Roll Dick really. Which is fine, whatever. But the 80's seem to be the lost generation in some ways. I remember a few voices rising above the din on those message boards (which were a blast), but most of the groupies from the 80s have been lost or gone silent.

What did I just watch?! It's weird to see Izzy without sunglasses and ....WTH, Perla?

They have definately proven that they don't need Izzy to sell out stadiums or put on fantastic shows. That being said, it is a miracle that those five guys, having put their bodies through absolute hell, are still alive and able to perform. They are all in their 50's now and that is also when shit starts to take you down- cancer, heart attacks, arthritis, hearing problems etc. It would be such a damn shame if something were to happen to one of them and they hadn't all been on stage together when they had the chance. Especially if the problem was money. And that seems to be the case.
I do wish we knew exactly what was keeping Izzy away. But my guess is that there is such a weird combination of money/business and personal/friendship issues that it would be near impossible to put out a fair, simple statement. I feel both ways about the money issue- my gut says it's Izzy give him whatever he wants but... Izzy sold his share of the business in 97 or so, right? It must have seemed like a good decision at the time- they weren't making much money and Izzy apparently never enjoyed the lawyers and lawsuits and shit that went with the business side of things. So does he get to come in 20 years later and take a victory lap with the rest of the partnership? Izzy is my favorite member and his contribution in the "classic" years is so vast. But he has been paid very well for that contribution. He was essentially able to retire at age 32 and live off that contribution (I love his solo stuff, but since The JuJu Hounds they are hobby albums that he is good enough to share with us- I doubt he makes any money off them).
Anyway, i'm still betting he shows up at some point and the Izzy saga has been one of the most interesting things about this reunion.

I believe it's from the LAYN Rocks benefit concert in 2009. Duff and Adler were there too.
