Btw is it true tht Slash will taking break from GN'R for while to working with SMKC?

Rumor is that Slash and Duff are signed to a two-year contract with GNR. I would expect a very lengthy break starting in 2018.  I wonder if Duff and Slash will be able to talk about the NITL tour once the contract expires? So weird to have such a prolonged silence from Slash in particular.

I wish Izzy tweeted something like this as he did with "speculation" back in the day. It would be awesome.

Sorry, because the pic is, indeed, huge.

I'll probably end up going, mainly because I plan to meet some people there I haven't seen in ages and some internet friends I haven't even met in person, but the truth is I know and I'm sure that I'm gonna feel such second hand embarrassment watching the pokemon jumping up and down, Fortus flashing his boobs and don't even get me started with that drummer who can't drum at all. And all this knowing that Steven and Izzy wanted to be there, is gonna hurt a lot. <_<

Hope is dead, making fun of Fortus's man-boobs is forever.

Does anybody think that this may be the end of the Slash/Duff reunion era? Last shows are in L.A....where it all began.

Weren't there rumors that Slash and Duff were signed to a 2 year contract with this band? If so, it would make sense.  They'll do as many shows as possible this year and get their creative rocks off doing solo stuff next year. Hopefully the gag order will be lifted, and Slash won't be forever mute.

  4. There were several "insiders" who warned us about this way back in early 2016. That this was simply a continuation of NUGNR with Slash and Duff dropped into open slots.  Everything would be the same except the size of the venues.  Clearly, Axl wants it this way and they've got a tamed beast right now.  No one's going to poke the bear and risk the money.

It's truly fucked up that Duff and Slash can't give an interview. That fan communication would go such a long way. I don't blame them for not getting involved with any forums- that way lies madness- but an interview? Are things so terrible on the inside that they can't have any transparency with the fans whatsoever? What are they afraid of?

  5. I think at first the whole big hair and makeup thing had a Hanoi Rocks, New York Dolls slightly punk-y image that probably appealed to them as young up-and-comers. Then MTV hit big. Hair/Glam Metal was uniquely suited to that visual genre- and it started to seem corporate and banal. Plus Poison vs GNR was a real thing on the Strip in those years. They would have wanted to differentiate themselves from that shit.

  6. Me and Mr. BaD are watching our nieces for the week and... I swear to God. What the hell is with Frozen? What kind of psychotic kiddie drug is this shit? What a terrible fucking movie! Why doesn't everyone just move south? What's up with the asshole parents? Don't even get me started on those fucking trolls. THAT SONG. We've watched this movie 6 times in 4 days.

    8:00 this morning:

3 year old: Can we watch Frozen again?
    Mr. BaD: NO!
    3 year old: WHY NOT!!!???
Mr. BaD: This is my safe place. This is my home.
3 year old: PLEASE!!! I miss my Mommy!!!
    Mr. BaD:

Yeah, I was thinking they will easily be 2k+ for anything remotely close to the floor. Floor will be even worse. Just look at U2's prices, I looked at their show in Santa Clara and for practically nosebleed seats it was $1100. AFD5 will be just as bad or worse.

There would probably be very few tickets to actually buy-at least good tickets. If they announced one or two shows in LA those shows would be chock full of celebrities and industry people and their various hangers-on.  Plus all the band's families and hangers-on. Plus the rented out models. If AFD5 happens we just have to pray that there is 1 person there who is close to the stage, who becomes possessed enough with the spirit of Izzy to keep their camera on him the whole night and then posts the video. Better then nothing.

If you think Nikki Sixx is nice, you clearly haven't heard much about him. Nothing about that creep is nice. He is a gross asshole of the highest order and makes the idiots in GNR look like sweet little choire boys by comparison.

All you have to do is read The Dirt to know what disgusting, degenerate assholes they were. The book literally opens with Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee raping some girl in a closet.

I don't know how anyone can not hate the members of Motley after reading that book. And yet the book itself is great.  Having the book take the form of alternating oral histories from the band members was genius. It kind of revels in the fact that all of these guys are unreliable narrators. Nikki's The Heroin Diaries is not saved by being a great book written by a horrible person, although Guns and Izzy are mentioned more in that book than in The Dirt. But it's a piece of shit.  Andy's book is okay, but only if you are super into Hanoi Rocks and artsy/gypsy/druggie mumbo jumbo. It's not especially well written.  There's very little about Izzy or Guns, the biggest thing is the Erin thing which is 2 or three pages.  Adler's book is...frustrating. It's hard not to be frustrated with him. Not well written. It is a very good look inside Adler's brain and all that entails, however. You will get some,uh, choice stories about Izzy.

I have trouble over the time line, if Steven at this point was still in the band and he was fired 1990 ,  Angela says she was living with Andy at this point so she must have dated Izzy much earlier than I supposed. SCOM was made in 1988 she was around then, she was on the plane when he got arrested 1989  but they must have gone their separate ways befor he got sober 1991?

Izzy and Angela started dating in late 1986 or early 1987. They broke up in October 1989. Angela hooked up with Andy almost immediately. Izzy got sober in December 1989. According to Mick Wall, Adler was fired in early 1990 but reinstated after signing a contract where he promised to stop taking drugs. The Farm Aid performance in April of 1990 was Izzy's first sober performance and Adler's last performance. Angela and Andy moved into the house next to Steven's in June of 1990.  Adler was officially fired from the band on July 11th 1990.  Probably not coincidentally.

This. Especially the bolded but all of this. Pretty upsetting how common and usual sexual assault and rape were, same seems to go for overdosing and suicide attempts.

Also Axl. He only threw Steven out of the band but was to shallow to get the police investigate on the rape possibility? What kind of boyfriend is he?

We gotta remember that Axl also had rape charges in his past. What kinds of things did Steven witness Axl doing in the Gardner Street unit? If there had been an investigation and things had ended up in court, none of those guys would have come out alive. They were all mired in shit.

According to Erin herself, she was sexually, verbally and physically assaulted by Axl.  And it was a fight with Axl that started the whole thing.  Much easier to kick Steven out for being unable to play then to open a can of worms.

I find that whole scene to be so fascinating, but thank god it died an inglorious death.

I think the AC/DC is more fun for him, he just goes on stage and sings the songs that he grew up on it, Guns envolves more business and stuff...

Yep- there are advantages to being a worker bee sometimes. With great power comes great responsibility and all that shit.

It's good to see him happy and branching out, and I think he finally feels... respected? Appreciated?  Which must be nice after all these years.

well... i guess you're right. i hope this guy burns in hell... and i hope izzy is not mad about that

Ha! I feel like the fake instagram account is more of a "wow, that's really annoying" offense than a "I hope you burn in hell" kind of offense.

Izzy didn't go to see Axl sing with Billy Joel? Too busy practicing for this summer? ;)

Apparently I can't figure out how to respond to multiple things at once and not double post. SOS!  Sorry.

Re: the Steven interview I def need to watch bc a Twitter pal also sent it to me and said "do you think he's on coke?" :o(I'm currently in my bed pretending to be asleep so my kiddo doesn't demand I get up and make breakfast  ... so can't watch now). There was also a FB post last night  of him was rehearsing and he looks just super tired and worn down. Eeeeeek. Hope he's ok.

Gah. Let's face it- whether that's cocaine or just Adler adlering that's 90% of the reason he isn't touring with them in even half capacity. His 'unreliable' is not Izzy's 'unreliable.' And Adler would do it for free.

    wow

I guess that's the way it was back then and unfortunately, in my country, girls who get drunk or go out at night and are alone, get treated the same, even in 2017 with all the awareness we have about gender violence, gender abuse and so on.

It's the same here. You can't turn the television on without hearing about a fraternity or sports team being suspended because they have been raping drunk girls in a basement or something gross like that.

This, both of you. Thanks for telling about the book, @beautifulanddamned. I didn't know that Desi was THAT young! Poor girl, really! 14 and 15 year old girls! ... This is quite sad and upsetting.

Rita Rae Roxx's Once Upon a Rock Star is another book that talks about the scene if anyone is interested. Again, not a good book, per se. But she also talks about the nightly Sunset Strip crowd in the 80's. She also talks about being aged out at 18 (she lost her virginity to Billy Squires on a tour bus a few weeks after her 15th birthday).  She talks about sexual assault very casually as well, talks about being raped a couple of times but gives it no more importance than what she was wearing that night. Rita Rae Roxx was a groupie so her book is actually more interesting when it talks about her local concert scene (before she moved to LA).  Groupies and bands actually created a really strange,  symbiotic, dysfunctional family environment back then.  Amy Asbury, who wrote The Sunset Strip Diaries, was not a groupie, she was from LA and the Roxy/Cat House/Troubadour thing was her local "club scene." The book Hard Lessons by Michael Leahy talks about the local LA club scene as well, through the eyes of local kids from a very privileged, preppy high school.
